So what things should I do first, I.e setup wise (GFX, Wheel, Settings in Game) etc etc as I know there is some hardcore AC drivers out there, so any tips to get me on the road, in quick smart time, would be greatfully appreciated.

Oh I have a G27 btw

Thanks very much

About $130, after scouring the net to find the cheapest deals. It really doesn't make sense to go this route since I added it all up. I'd be better off saving up for a G27 down the road.
More than 1 OutGauge?

Sorry if this has been asked before but i couldn't find an up to date one.

Is there any software available for the latest version of LFS that allows more than one OutGauge port to be used?

As I use the LFS Dashboard on Android, G27 LEDS and Rev Bouncer, but currently can only use them 1 at a time (sigh) so can anyone help?

A question about Bodnar cables
Mr. Kninja
S3 licensed
My new DFGT is on the way, and I have just enough money left over to afford the pedals and shifter from a G27. But Bodnar cables are so expensive, they're just about as expensive as the pedals and shifter themselves.

So my question is, can I simply splice a serial and USB cable to create my own Bodnar-type device, or does his have any special circuitry to handle the devices?

Also, he lists a separate adapter to make your shifter standalone, but I've seen and heard of people using a standard Bodnar cable for that as well. I'm fairly confused about this.. Is there any real difference, or would another one of my Bodnar-a-like (assuming that is feasible) cables work for the shifter too?

Thanks in advance.

I just like forza and the 360 controller because i can modulate the throttle and brake, but from what i remember whenever i used a PS3 controller (like twice and that was playing CoD MW:2) that the L2 and R2 trigger things are pretty much buttons and offer next to no analog control like the 360, but i'll probably end up just using my G27.

I wish there was a compiled list of parts or rims for GT5 or 6 though so i can see just how far i can personalize my cars.

Just curious as i want to pick up a PS3 to play Gran Turismo again and old PS2 games like Auto Modellista and Tokyo Xtreme Racer Zero, how's the controller compared to the 360? Can you map the accel and brake to the triggers? Are there any good aftermarket controllers that cater to this or will i have to dust off my G27 out of storage to make do (If i do end up going this route, it'll be pointless because i'll just grab my pc right next to it and fly away to AS and pCars land!)

Holly mother of all nobel invetions. Gone back to super glue and lubrication. So here it is, special Bosnian recept for G27. Superglued the small circuit board with IC detectors to the case and you'll have the precision of an eagle. Meantime also lubricated the wheels inside the case and FFB lived thru an age of wine, got better then on a new G27.

Quote from Kyle-Caz :I am a newbie at h-shifters (I have only used a G27 one!) so I need to know what to get and what to do to make it.

Considering you can buy a standalone G27 shifter from Ebay at around £20 and slap a Leo Bodnar standalone USB adapter to it, it doesn't make much sense to start building one by scratch, especially if you're not willing to do the basic research for planning and material requirements to start with.

But good luck with the project.

Edit: Act-Labs shifters are also horribly outdated and overpriced now.

Hello peeps,

I would like to make my own h-shifter. I was going to buy a ACT LABS H-shifter but they are WAY out of my budget, so In decided to make my own. But, I am a newbie at h-shifters (I have only used a G27 one!) so I need to know what to get and what to do to make it. Referring to earlier, I could not buy the Ultimate bundle, buy the single one and buy the 6-speed + Reverse separately.

I've put some damping in it too. (13 in profiler, or else none would work in game and 8 in game) = G27. The wheel is going bizzerk without any when tank slapper and so I've put a few percents of filter too. Happens to help Prosting (driving more realistically) quite a little bit out there.

kerb effects.. 0 and still the wheel rattles like an old dog on rumble strips. I hope they fix this in one of the patches, it's quite annoying at times to others in living space. And it would be really a drag to open the wheel and modify it.

And yes 50-80% ffb is just the pleasurable range in AC. Something like a 18-25 in LFS. What matters is running a 100 in profiler.

Quote from Fordman :I got Rfactor free with my G27 wheel purchase and I have finally installed it, just to see what it is about.

I have downloaded the RealFeal plugin as recommended but I was wondering from anybody with experience, what is the mod's to have?

I did a little goggling, and I have got the V8 Aussie Mod ( very impressive ) and the FRR Clio Cup ( yet to test )

Mostly interested in closed wheel mods.

Cheers

Fordie

is all G27's come with free RF ? because i have since 4 month and when i receive it i never seen any free game in the bundle.

Must be hardware dependent, with the G27 it has literally been plug and play for me. Just went in one time to turn off the curb effects.

Want to buy G27 mainboard.

Hello,

My G27 mainboard is dead, USB device not recognized, tried with several PC's. Looked it with oscillosscope, and looks like the processor is broken. Not replying to USB commands it receives from the PC.

I'm looking to buy a G27 mainboard, so if you have broken wheel laying around, please contact me.

And if you happen to have G27 dc motors as well, from the same wheel for example, i'm interested in those as well. But not the motors alone, mainboard have to be in the same package.

New to the game. G27 wheel works fine. I have club sport elite pedals plugged in. When I go to drive all three do the same thing. It's like there's only one spot when pushed where it reads. I press the brake and nothing happens till I press pretty far and it locks the brakes up. Same with gas where I press it far before it goes. Clutch too. When I calibrate all three bars are all to the right on the screen.

Very nice review! thanks!

As my wheel is about to tell me to do the driving myself.. I am keeping my eyes open to get a new one. Just so far I am thinking of buying the Logitech G27 wheel with the TR500S shifter. The G27 shifter just doesnt feel close to good to me.

This even looks more solid indeed.

I thought I'd just stick my two pence in~

8.1 is great, very solid and now (took long enough) on all the numerous systems I own that are in regular use (some are broken lol).

Anyway, about LFS, DX9 is fine. Yes, it's a little older (okay a lot older) but it's programming so it doesn't affect things quite the same way as if it was a piece of hardware from the same year. I understand Scawen for wanting to use a version of DX on a system that gives him a debug. I could suggest a VM but I realise this just doesn't give accurate enough results being that it is emulated hardware more or less and really not a great idea when he wants to know how it runs on native hardware.

Realistically, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and many need to learn this. If Scawen (and anyone else) wishes to use XP/DX9 and understands the risks (and benefits yes in DX9's case) then that's totally fine!

All I wish for is for LFS to live on with more work done to it. I view LFS as an ongoing project, this isn't a standard crappy game, it's a simulator with a LOT of hard work and love poured into it with a metric ton of brain grease from Scawen (and the others when they were still around).

@Scawen: If you see this, please, please, please give people a reason to stick around. I'm not moaning or raging. I'm just very sad after looking at the server list today and seeing barely two dozen servers, half of which have one or two people on. If you do give us a decent patch at some point this year I for one am FULLY willing to actually pay you the cost of another upgrade ticket for it (or two if it's larger), purely because I appreciate your work (and because LFS is literally THE reason I bought a DFGT and then spent £220 on a G27 setup barely 6 months later).

Regardless, I shall return to racing & cruising in my LX6 *cough* Caterham SuperSeven *cough* end of May when I finish this year of university so I wish you all good racing in the time being.

Rambler out!
