Fanatec GT3 RS V2 Issues?

Hey everyone,

I'm just wondering (as I've just bought a GT3 RS V2 for about 60% of RRP) does anybody know of any potential issues with the Fanatec GT3 RS and where possible, ways to avoid said problems.

As some of you know, I recently lost my G27 to calibration failure.

Thanks,

~FD

hi all, this is my very first racing sim, heard about it today, signed up tonight, got the demo installed and am looking at getting a g27 now as well. This looks like it will be an awesome experience and I can't wait to get into it more.

SR are pleased to announce some more new signings. We have recruited 2 ex-cargame racers in Ricardo Costa (Otone) and Litro. Both bring alot of speed and potential. Otone is from Portugal and Litro is from Latvia.

Otone's comments- My name is Ricardo Costa, been around here since 2011 when I got my S2 License. Played occasionally Demo since 2004.
I'm 24 years old. Born and raised in Cascais, Portugal. I'm doing an automotive mechatronics course.
My favourite music is Braindance and Techno, specially Jeff Mills, Richard David James, Mike Paradinas, Luke Vibert, Squarepusher, etc. I like Portuguese rap music like Allen Halloween.
My favourite TV-Series is HBO OZ. I don't play other games that much, only the big titles that comes out like GTA, id Games, Crysis, etc. I've always been a Doom fan.
I play LFS with G27 wheel and my favourite cars are XRG, FOX, MRT and LX4.
I play LFS mostly just for fun, never focused in league racing. Hope I will have fun around here!
---------------
Our next signing is Stijn Wauters from Belgium. Stijn had a long break from LFS but is now back and we are delighted he wanted to join us.

Stijn's comments - Hi, I'm Stijn Wauters, 30 years old, and I'm addicted to gaming, beer and other other alcoholic beaverages, Belgian fries from "het frituur", sexy hot women with big breasts, movies, TV series, and lfs. I live in Turnhout, Belgium.

Gaming history: started out on my dad's pc in my early ages on "stunts" and "4wd racing" and "x-wing vs tie fighter" with a joystick (much fun!!). Then discovered the "Need For Speed" game collection, nearly played all of them, but mostly enjoyed the "porshe unlimited".
Not a fps fan, but like flight and racing sims. Recently also played the 'assassin's creed' series, which was interesting.

I've been on lfs since the near beginning, fiddling around in S1 demo mode with a joystick :-). A bit later got myself licensed (January 2004), a microsoft ffb wheel and started enjoying the wonders of lfs.

I have league experience while driving the original lfs league, the flemish racing league, battle of the teams, Desire of Patience tour - 24h of as4r,... . During that time I got in touch with other drivers from Belgium and joined (the now no more) Elite Squad ls team.
---------------------
After Stijn, we signed Christian Brösicke, aka Broe, formerly of the now defunct conedodgers team. Broe is from Gremany and especially likes GTR endurance events.

Broe's comments - My real name is Christian Brösicke (my race nick and plate are together my stage name on track)
I came from Germany/Berlin and I am 40 Years old. (born at 1972)

I took part at the GTCC, it was a league from RM last 3 seasons I drive for FFR. The GTCC didn't exist any more so I must find a new one.
I make 5 16h races and I think 1 24h race most of this races I drive a FXR GT2 as that's my favourite car.

I started playing LFS in 2005 and my "fault" was that I start playing one track with one car (AS3/ FXR) and this over 40000 Laps.
I got alot of Public experience with this but didn't get skills in other cars and tracks. That's why I am slow in other cars but I know it and I will work on it hope I could get some good tips from you guys to get faster.

Thanks for give me a chance to be a part of this team and I hope we have much fun on track.
---------------------
Next up is Paul Mante, aka spanneman. Paul is a very experienced driver, who has previously been in many German Eteams. Paul brings alot of GTR league experience.

Paul's comments - I'm 22 years old and I'm from Hannover. I have been playing/driving Live for Speed since 2007.

I stepped back a bit from Live for Speed but I decided to come back and search for some new Challenges.

I'm looking forward to a long and good time in SR and hope for good successes for us

I wanted to thank you all again for the warm welcome ....
---------------------
Our latest signing is Tuomas Koriala, aka RandomnessInside. Tuomas is another young Finn who is currently in our trial team. We hope to see him progress to the full team soon.

Tuomas's comments - I'm Tuomas Koriala, a 17-year old dude from Finland, and I'm an average simracer. I've not done any international events yet on LFS but will do next year. I mainly drove on LFS for the 5laps.com community which is now closed, but I improved a lot there. My PB's aren't that bad either, although I've only couple of combos where I'm good at. But as I'll visit SR's server I'll make sure to try out some PB's!
--------------------
We also welcomed back Kasper Kontio, aka RoamerF1. Kasper is another young Finn who was previously on trial.

Kasper's comments - My name is Kasper Kontio. I'm 14 years old boy from Mikkeli, a city in Finland. I have been playing lfs since 2010. I don't really have hobbies but I usually play football at summer with my friends on free time and ice hockey at winter. I drive lfs quite alot too, mostly public racing but I like to drive League races too. I am using G27 at the moment. My favourite cars are GT2, GT1 and open wheelers. Cya on track!

Mine still works good after 4 years of (nowadays) sporadic usage, just make sure to not use too high FFB values (101% in wingman software, 20-35% ingame).

And I relube the cogwheels with some sewing machine oil (for plastic cogs) like once every half a year.

you could take the G27 apart and keep its PCB and plugs in a small plastic box, no need to have a second steering wheel laying around, nor to buy an extra controller á la Leo Bordena

Quote from NitroNitrous :I know most of you will blame me but is just wrong to play using the cockpit camera anyway. My steering wheel is the one I'm phisically holding with my hands, and my dashboard is the table (or whatever you have between you and your screen). What I see in the screen is what I'm supposed to see through the windshield of the car. That said, I hope there are customi cameras just like in LFS.

This doesn't make any sense. Steering wheels and coffee tables (or whatever the wheel is connected to) typically don't display the information that the sim car's wheel/dashboard do. Sure, there are slight exceptions (such as the G27 displaying shift lights and gear), but having dials with rpm, gear indicator and other displays (including the rear-view camera that will appear on a number of cars in AC and is visible on the above 458 video) just makes sense. If the sim car's wheel has information your wheel can't display then you should use it. I appreciate this is personal choice, but denying yourself information that you should have access to (i.e. that you would have if you were actually driving the sim car) because you don't want to see 2 wheels or a dashboard is an indefensible position if you wish to have others accept it.

Quote from Born2BSlow :I think you can use G27 pedals but not shifter as there is no socket for it on the wheel

Which is not a problem as you can plug 2 devices in PC. Assuming that the G27 still functions enough to be able to use pedals and shifter.

I had a DFGT before my G27, still have but gave it my son. Wheel is fine but not as smooth as G27 and is a little noisier. I think you can use G27 pedals but not shifter as there is no socket for it on the wheel, there may be a USB conversion you can do if you read around. Nice wheel will do you proud, enjoy!

Well, I've had DFGT since Jan 09, and its still working albeit with a little more noise than before. Its had 20000km on it, mostly on slow GTi cars an ddrifting, so its been abused. Pedals are mediocre (as youve probably heard), and so you can really only use them barefotted. Spin speed is less than G27 but shouldnt be a problem unless you're doing lock to lock manuvers suh as CityDriving Sim or doooorrriiiifting. Good bang if you are able to deal with the pedals (or use.aftermarkets). No surprises, you get what you pay for.

Never minf, if you can get LeoBodnars (or whatwver heyre called) and use only the.DFGT wheel, then you'll be fine.

DFGTs?

Hey Guys (and very rarely, girls),

My G27 died recently, but I still have working pedals and shifter; so, I was thinking...

Would it be an idea to get a DFGT from eBay for say £40-50 area?

If so, could somebody just run through some issues, pros and cons and possibly find me some reviews? I've found a few, but they weren't very detailed, and mainly from people who were either complaining, or very happy people who have had it for all of a week; and not seen long term usage problems (2 years area) for a while.

Anyway, any help would be great.

Logitech G27 + TH8RS shifter NOT WORKING TOGETHER!
ilia911

I can play lfs with no problems if i unplug the TH8RS shifter from the usb port but if i keep it plugged in at the same time as the G27 Shifter , it detects them both and i can program the keys on both of them , but it won't let me program my gas pedal , clutch or brake.

Any solutions or ideas ?

thanks.

Hi, name's Ray Krieger Salorzano, i love racing games, and i had been playing them from the tender age of 3, i began playing simulators with Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec, ever since, i grew up and liked the racing stuff that people is talking nowadays, i usually use wheels as they allow me to get a more realistic control over the car, so i bought a Logitech G27.-

I had been racing for a while on the game, starting with the XFG in 2012, left the game after some time, some months later, i came back, at the same day to start driving the XRG, i got the hand of it that i even made a pb of 1:33.7x (Wich was dumb luck) as it happens, but i still need to train as i only get to very low 1:34's.-

I like to give way to drivers when they need to pass me, in fact, several people raced me from time to time (I'm talking about forum regulars) to avoid accidents, i usually join AA or other racing servers (Sometimes cruise when i'm really bored).-

I can't buy S2 license (Wich is what i want to) because of country economy (Guatemala) being at it's worsest at times, plus doing money transfering here being controlled by muggers and all of that, sure, i could use money order or some international thing, but it's still expensive, and it's not the right time to do that.-

K, that's all...
G27 wheel buttons not working.

Hello, so... My buttons on the g27 ain't working anymore. I don't know what has happened to them :I I was just playing LFS, until i pressed one of the buttons and nothing happened. Then i went to the options and see if it was working... Nope. All of the 6 red buttons were not working, and the left shift paddle wasn't working either. The only thing that is working on the wheel is the right shift paddle, steering and LED's I was wondering, if anybody could help me

I really need to get them buttons to work D:

Edit: I have already taken the wheel apart, and looked at the wires that connect the buttons to the wheel. Nothing isn't wrong on them, and they aren't still working

You should use the latest driver and, as already described by Jussi-Pekka the settings (usb device) set / check accordingly. Do you don't see any reaction in the LFS control configuration screen if you push the clunch pedal?

G27 works fine with LFS. I'm using the wheel since months.

I also got my G27 a couple of days ago. Did you download Logitech Game Software? Also make sure you have selected in Options - Controls throttle/brake axis to separate and clutch to axis. If the previous didn't help you can try to change axis under Axes/FF -tab. I hope this will help.

Quote from L@gger :But in fact the fastest sets are oversteer. For new players its hard to control them.

Someone who can drive 33s on bl gp can drive oversteer setup.

It says wheel but I think you are driving mouse, right?

You are driving pretty good but maybe you should use more kerbs especially in the first schikane and drive smoother. You need to practice and get a consistent setup.

Well, i'm driving with Logitech G27 (Complete with clutch pedal being used and H-pattern shifter*, i don't know why you think i'm using mouse yet.

And well, thanks everyone for the replies, i still want to hear some more tough, because i really set up the view options to my own, but i think there are other ones that i can try (Specially the Cockpit one) i also improved my driving a bit more with Setupgrid and all of the tips given, so thanks guys.

Keep 'em coming!

Then there is also the T500RS with the Thrustmaster shifter.... Available now, and inbetween the Fanatex and G27 in price.... Seems like a pretty good choice if I want to go a little up on the G25 but don't wanna spend all my savings?

I have a Thrustmaster Warthog setup, and if the build quality is anything NEAR that the T500 must be amazing!

I have the GT3RS with the Elite pedals and had the G27. I'm quite a bit slower trying to adapt, but the wheel feels great just need to adjust to the feeling of the rear end losing grip.

Also I have an odd issue with the brake pedal clunking due to somethings binding up it seems. Moved it up a rung and problem fixed, but there's no way in hell I can push a pedal that stiff on a regular basis.

What I like about the GT3RS vs G27
Adjustable settings on the fly including wheel lock, FFB setting, and vibration shock etc.
Smoother force feedback
throttle is much more accurate and the brake feels much more natural, but is a learning curve.
the wheel is very easy to resynch
shifter is all metal and seems durable
the clamp is much more adjustable for thinner surfaces and there is an easy to use drill template
fanaleds helps out a lot
What I liked about the G27 vs the GT3RS:
Wires were much more neatly organized
Paddle shifters felt more sturdy and made a nice click
Way more buttons
medal wheel made me a bit more sure of the wheel and feeling.
Shifter is a bit more function able and easy to setup
fanaleds is just meh for the g27, just indicators and such

Equals:
The leather on both wheels are great and unique.
both wheels have solid build quality (though the fanatec is all plastic)
both are about the same price (in the US, and I'm talking about the fanatec XL bundle)

I will write a formal review when I get the time
