turn of isolation core in defender .. ( work for my g27 and logitech profiler program )

Setting the rotation in profiler rather than leaving it up to the game seems to have been a key thing for consistency, I'm feeling pretty good with it on 360° as a balance between response and precision for now, I'll try 540° another day.

The game still decided to override it a couple of times for some reason, not sure if it was when I changed cars/loaded car setups or when I changed some of the wheel settings in game. Just had to exit game and open it again from profiler, hopefully it was just while adjusting settings and will behave now.

I've also wrapped a rubber band around the top centre of the wheel for a marker as I found I was losing track of centre at times with more rotation, it seems to be helping. Not a problem I have with real cars even with a few armfuls of opposite lock, but I guess the G27 is still only about half the size of a real wheel so maybe thats part of it.

Quote from nikopdr :It's good to start out with 540 degrees first, just set it in profiler and ingame, with wheel turn compensation also adjusted to 1.00. this setting makes the steering axle more linear, which might be a part of the problem too. in 900* mode if you have that set to 1.00, it goes 1:1 with every car(720 in road cars, 540 in GTR cars, 470 open wheels, etc)

A normal wheel (back in the old days) was 270º. When upgrading to a G25 I upped the range to 360º and shortly after to 450º (this is the maximum for always having both hands gripping the wheel).
After many months I stepped up to 540º (as previous post states, the correct degrees for race cars).

When I got the G27, I had to use H-shifter instead of sequential, so I also went all the way up to 900º. If I'm having the gearbox handicap let's also get use to the full steering range. A decision I don't regret, but it sure took a long time since those initial 360º.

My recommendation for you would be to spend a month or two at each step. Until you reach 540º, then it's up to you to see if you enjoy 720º or 900º.
G27 setup help

Hi everyone, new here. Played a fair bit of a LFS a few years back then stopped gaming for a while and just getting back into it again.

I'm having some issues with finding a usable setup for my new (second hand but new to me) G27 in LFS.

As default it only had 180° rotation available, I found how to switch that setting on and off in another helpful LFS forum thread here: https://www.lfs.net/forum/thread/74394-g27-only-turns-90-degrees

However with full rotation its basically undrivable, especially when I want to slide around - its more or less impossible to get enough lock on quickly enough to catch a slide. If you use the old let go of the wheel technique it sometimes winds around fast enough, but doesn't balance at the right lock and overcorrects.

Changing the wheel rotation in the car setup doesn't seem to do anything, so my only options seem to be 180° or 900° using that button combination from the other thread unless I try changing the rotation in logitech profiler - but obviously I would have to exit the game to use different rotation for different cars.

I found a few old threads with suggested settings (setting profiler to 101% FF and spring + damper effects to zero) but it doesn't seem to have helped.

I don't think its a lack of driving ability because I can drift until the tyres pop on the 180° setting (they overheat a bit fast really...) and I don't have the same problem playing dirt rally with the G27 (often set to 540 or 720° rotation there) or sliding real cars around.

LFS is playable and fun if I leave it on 180°, but it just doesn't seem like thats making good use of what the wheel should be able to do, and it makes it harder to adjust to more steering lock in dirt rally again afterwards.

So, any suggestions, settings I might have missed etc?

Hi guys, new here, have LFS for over a year if not more but had no time to play, getting back at it again. Have G25 at the moment, hoping to upgrade to G27 soon and finishing my new rig so hoping to be fully set up within a month or so, but still need to do some homework on LFS game play, rules and stuff.

It's the title, i play some seconds with G27 on and game crashes as soon as i leave pits in Multiplayer, if i don't, game stays on.... without it runs good.... i don't know what happens, this doesn't happen in any other simulation racing game, or any game at all, my wheel does have some problems of stop working from nothing but idk if it has anything to do with that.

Only in LFS, the cars feel completely different for me. At AC I have more similarities I think so. (G27)

Everyone feels differently.

Ok. In general, most of common technical problems solved by someone, can be found in youtube. Did you try put words G27 CENTERING in youtube search box? It gives at least four video promising fix for centering issue.

Hi

I bought an used G27, this issue stays, doesn't get worse, and doesn't go away, no matter if I use the wheel on PS3 or on PC.

While driving you can feel the FF motors "catching" the centre in a wrong place. If not for that, it could be ignored by just slightly adjusting the grip - one hand a little lower, the other a little higher and it would be easy to forget about the issue. Unfortunately as I wrote, FF is off-centre as well and it's annoying.

I've googled a lot but there are hundreds of videos/threads about centering issue, but those are about the optical encoder problem, where it doesn't calibrate till the end at all or goes increasingly worse over time, so I think my issue is unrelated.

I want to know either how to fix it or is it a low quality of factory manufacturing/design which Logitech sees as within the norm to call the unit "OK".
It's been my third Logitech wheel now. Every single one had some calibration issues eventually. I will fix or get rid of it and start saving up for T300RS, either way any info will be very useful. Thanx in advance

I can't seem to get my rim or anything to work with LFS>
i went from a G27 (worked well)
and since i have had the Accurforce- Fanatec Shifter and other usb pedals, i have trouble calibrating and can't actually use my rig at all.
what is the max USB's the game allows (rfasctor freaks out after 4 i think)

i have 5 at least into my PC.

LFS is recognized as a title in Simexperience software.

I found some more games and though I could share them with you all.

If you've been into arcade racing games such as Wipeout in the 90s, know there is a tribute to this game on Steam called BallisticNG and it now supports VR (by right clicking properties and choosing the Beta tab). It's just been released and I love it so far so I highly recommend it. Workshop is supported as well and there's some pretty neat tracks & vehicules to get there. If you're into this there's Redout as well but I honestly prefer BNG (less woobling in the gameplay).

I found Spa 1967 for Assetto Corsa so I'm pretty hocked with the Lotus 25 although the AI is pretty dumb for a change. Still it's an amazing experience in vr even with a g27.

My niece asked me for some good old survival Minecraft on a server so I gave it a chance in VR with the Vivecraft mod (compatible with the Touch!) and even Minecraft is great in vr.. once you get a hang of the controls with the touch controllers that is.

Keep talking and nobody explodes is pretty fun as well with friends. You need to print a manual (about 30 pages) for this one.

I pitch you this reddit page who names a few games: https://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/7ixfm0/list_of_vr_mods/

Among the games are Jedi Outcast & Academy, Alien Isolation, RBR, Gamecube's DolphinVR emulator & PS2 counterpart PCSX2 with SBS plugin (although not fully VR for this one, you need Bigscreen or equivalent).

The Jedi games made me dizzy a little so I'm not sure I'd recommend them for a long exposure.

Alright, that pretty much covers it for now. Hope some of you discover some new games here.

For myself the G29 was the better choice because I don't need a H-shifter and a new G29 was almost the same price as a old G27. The wheels are both good but the G29 has more buttons on the wheel.

So it depends on your own choice which one you want.

The G27 also comes with the H shifter which is a 'give us more $$money$$' option with the G29. Save yourself NZD $ 78.1768 to get at least as good a wheel.

Quote from Racon :I'm glad to see LFS has started applying forces to stationary cars in the 10 years since that post... that'd have been annoying Smile

There are still no FF forces for stationary cars. It's not a bug, it's a feature. We did get auto rotation to center on car spawn though.

In my experience with a g27, running 100% driver force and 80%+ in-game force leads to the common optical encoder misalignment problem, requiring a tear down of the wheel. I like 30-50% based on the car/setup for reasons above.

Be sure to use separate axes for throttle/brake.

Give it some time to get used to wheel and just set it up that your wheel in game steers the same as your g27.

In time when u used to it u will start beating your mouse pb's Smile

Ok so I currently have a ThrustMaster 458 Italia. I've been getting into drifting with this wheel, but I've thrown it around alot because of the 100 degrees lock and it's making a clicking noise. I'm taking this opportunity to get a new wheel. I've had my eyes on a G27 for £80, and a G29 with shifter for £120. Which one should I go for. Thanks for any response Smile

Quote from MicroSpecV :LOL sorry just caught back up to this thread. Well burnt, Rony. Rofl

@awesome Well, if you're not up to speed in terms of skill, no wheel will make you faster than your sidewinder. I listed the DFGT because its a pretty good industry standard - it can do whatever you ask it to do in today's modern sims, really. If you wish to splurge on a G29 or Fanatec, go ahead. But I'm telling you its not worth it right now.

In perspective, if you are just starting out in guitar, you won't jump straight into a 11k Gibson Custom shop Les Paul would you?
With your sidewinder, its kind of like you using your old granddad's guitar from the 90s that's worth 10p - something to get the feels on. Then you make a small, but noticable leap up to something better, like a Epiphone (or DFGT in this case).

If he was 100% certain that he was going to commit to sim racing and obviously had some money to spare then it makes a big difference with a better wheel it just comes down to patience.

Id gone from using a ps3 pad for 5+ years then to a thrustmaster(cheaper 458 italia) and sucked back then onto my g27 and then started to improve but not right away. He would pick a second hand g27 up fairly cheap and a g29 is only cosmetically different as they are practically the same hardware apart from extra buttons on the g29

I was the same when learning to play a guitar, id hear the end result played by someone and wanted to play like that too quickly which then would knock my confidence and make me want to give up
