was just a guess, havent tried the cobra myself yet.

all i know is, that it's much harder for me to catch slides since i got a g27 using 900° (momo racing before with 240° or something). and i think i remember kristaps saying some time ago, that he doesnt use 900° and perhaps hyperactive uses 900°.

i know there are people who can catch easily even with using 900°, it just makes it much easier using less rotation.

I've just menaged to buy a DK1 for 750PLN (~$250), should arrive before the weekend
That's half of a DK2 price (350+ 50 shiping + 98tax =$498) and if I would buy one now it would arrive god knows when, could be even October. I was actually going to wait for CV1, but I wasn't expecting I will find some reasonably priced DevKit here in Poland.

I've also bought a G27 a week ago so I'm ready for some LFS testing

with G27 I thought it was just ok, but on my fanatec it feels great. I think LFS feels dead on my fanatec (bump wise), but on G27 liked LFS' feel better

Hello, I've just registered, and although I'm not using LFS, this thread pops up in google search for "force feedback g27 linux".

So, I'm running Euro Truck Simulator 2 (ETS2) and the force feedback is not present, and MadCatX explained why. fftest indeed does show "constant force" working, but none others. I am running Arch Linux.

The point of my post is to basically confirm that Force Feedback is not working on Logitech G27 steering wheel controller, at least not in Euro Truck Simulator 2.

Now I'll look into patching the kernel, as per previous posts.

PS: After LFS starting to show some signs of life, I'm not sure whether to start nitor velox up again, or start something completely new, however joining a team willing to learn a thing or two would be ideal, joining an immediate top team is less interesting.

Has anyone else got the bug where they leave their car idling, swap over to another program and then go back into LFS, all the pedals are pressed halfway and start to rev the car.

Hasnt happened before I updated. I have recalibrated my G27 aswell.

Nice work though LFS Team!

What kind of team are you looking for? Race
Age: 22
Country: Russian Federation
Preferred Car/Track: Formulas! FO8, BF1, FOX, FBM (in order of preference)
Average Laptime on Your Preferred Car/Track: Luckily I have a couple of AIWR best laps (see http://stats.airio.eu/PCS.aspx?U=vitaly_m ), donnow what to say more... In events sometimes I get slow still, but things slightly change after I bought new PC
How Active Are You? Can spend up to 3 4-hour evenings in a week, but I have 2-by-2 work days schedule...
What Kind of Control do you use? G27 in service currently, so I use mouse (which doesn't make me much slower, just a bit more unstable)
Time Zone: UTC+4

I am looking for a team which targeted on single-seaters races (if there is not such events now, we might try to organise some?). Want to practice and race together with people like me. I prefer people to act respectfully to each other and trying to be clean on track (for me is better to keep slow than crash someone in a desperate overtake attempt).

If you just plan to organize a team with such things in mind - write me as well.

Hope I didn't run out of letters here :maggiesim

It's different for everyone. I used to drive with the virtual steering on, but without the driver for some time. I got used to it. Then, I put the driver on and had to get used to the driver's hand animation when I turned, because the default cockpit view on cars like FBM don't look quite right. The driver appears to be sitting too far back and almost stretching to reach the steering wheel.

I zoomed in a bit and it was better, but still not ideal, because the mirrors go beyond the screen if you zoom in to the point where you think you're sitting in the right place. I also raced without the virtual wheel and driver, and got used to that too. It all depends on what reference one uses. The early hiccups with, without the driver and virtual wheel, I think, have to do with counter intuitiveness about where you're sitting, driver animation, virtual wheel movements, etc. Ultimately, we all use the road and our relative position with the road as reference.

One big disadvantage with keyboard input for throttle, brakes is that you've got to mimic lifting and braking by intermittent dabs on the throttle and brakes, which will unsettle cars sometimes. It slows you down also. Light and steady input on pedals would, in theory, make cars more stable and fast. Keyboard input also has an advantage in that you don't get any penalty for depressing the pedals too quickly, too much. No such thing.

Mouse steering is better than keyboard, and again there are advantages and disadvantages to this compared to wheels. It's very tough to recover from a spin on faster cars, because you're using one hand and shaking it sideways on a table. On the bright side, mouse steering doesn't tire you physically. A good, wheel, however, makes life fun. I have a wheel, which has input lag from the 50s, 180 degrees total rotation, and the brake and throttle pedals are just big depressible buttons. Once you touch it, it's either full throttle or full brakes. Waste of springs lol. The only car I've been able to drive and enjoy life as a result is the mini cooper from GT Legends.

Peace be upon those who don't have the G27!

But, at the end, if anyone can get past the difficulties with any given input device, life is going to be fun, no doubt!

Quote from Boris Lozac :Why is 2-11 such a bitch on the Ring.. understeers like crazy.

Boris don't drive like this guy

Lotus road cars require different driving style, especially 2-11, once you understand it you will love it
And check your pedals Boris, see in my attachment I got like 1-2% throttle, when my feet are off the gas completely, I already upped my gas pedal deadzone from 6% to 10% and now it's time to disassemble my g27 pedals and clean out the dust. With beemers and some other FR cars this is not so noticeable, but with MR cars this is critical, especially with Lotus road cars.

Sorry about this bump ...

Anyway, apparently this game is on sale over at Humble Bundle so I grabbed a copy and played it for about 5 minutes before I *really* messed up the FFB somehow.

Whenever I change gears my G25 rattles so much that I'm afraid to bother my neighbors.

I believe my windows settings are still LFSified (screenshot attached) but this does not appear to be working well in game even after hitting the reset defaults button.

Would someone please share their G25/G27 setttings? Windows as well in game, if you don't mind ...

What settings are you guys using for g27? I use these settings, but they feel very strange, not like any car I've driven before:

http://www.racedepartment.com/ ... h-g25-g27-settings.77244/

Very "sharp" vibrations, lots of noise from the wheel, when turning slightly it's almost like it's grinding its gears..

Finally a decent sim where I can practice on the 'ring before going down there for the sixth time the end of this month

Whenever I go into LFS the steering is always off center a little bit to the right, it fixes it self sometimes, but then when I change the settings for different games, it doesn't work anymore. I keep trying to use the same settings over and over, but it still never works. By the way, it's not a problem in other games, so it's not my G27.

I can't even remember what I did to that G25 under the table, probably broke it at some point too.

My current G27 looks like this, it showed the same signs my first one had shortly before spectacularly breaking so I've taken drastic measures.

Some background: Before I bought my G27 I had 1:12.42 hotlap PB at Blackwood FBM. After switching to wheel I was barely doing 1:13.40 but with time I started to get 1:12.80 and could get more but I get bored from this combo very soon.

Another combo I had some decent experience is SO4 BF1. My new PB is done with wheel and I can't do any close to it with mouse.

I had lots of experience with mouse and then switched to wheel because I was 100% sure it will make me a better racer. And it did. Because you can't drive in a single file on mouse as easy and stable as on wheel. You will either burn your tires or lose the field and give up positions a lot on most of the combos - because you can't brake and accelerate smoothly.

Ofcourse you can try and even succeed but then looking replays and seeing how easy it was for wheel racers, you will frustrate and start saving money for the wheel

I am talking about powerful formula cars like BF1 and FOX (FO8 is mostly undrivable with mouse already). Wheel is better here in races IMO. The only advantage is that you can recover from spins better due to ease of lock-to-lock steering moves, but hell, you got hot tyres anyway...

Hotlapping is a bit different from that and mouse can get very fast because you can recoup early braking with a bit earlier and drifty accelerating while moving your mouse left and right like crazy and hoping tyres will last for the final turn
