Logitech Gaming Software won't install in Windows 8.1

Hi,

I bought a new computer that comes with Windows 8.1 Pro. I have a Logitech G27, and when I tried to install Logitech Gaming Software, it skips the 3rd step (Installation).

I tried running as administrator, running in compatibility mode with Windows 7 and Vista, but nothing. I heard some people saying that it works with the one supplied in the CD But my new computer doesn't have DVD Drive.

Does anyone have a solution? Thanks!

Set your LFS and G27 rotation to be the same (minimum 720 degrees*), and in LFS set wheel turn compensation to 1.0.
If you've done it right, your G27 will match every car in LFS 1:1. The only downside is that you'll loose the FFB soft stops in several cars, so beyond full lock your wheel will keep turning and FFB will be a bit weird.

*Side note for people from the future: VWS is 900 degrees, so you'll need 900 instead of 720

Just ordered a g27 from pcworld (UK). Currently it is reduced to £169.99, so I figured a heads up was in order.

Fantastic experience this, everything working so well. Hugely impressive vr experience. No problems whatsoever.

With my G27 wheel its great. No judder. Great job.

I've played a lot of pc sims but the vr makes a massive difference. When the car drifts, you really feel it.

My only complaint about the game, and its not vr related, is the ai is waaaay too aggressive. But hugely fun all the same.

You could try somewhere like ebay to see if you can get a small steering wheel cover, although due to the small diameter of the G25/G27 wheel, might be difficult.

Better alternative might be to get some badminton/squash/tennis racquet anti slip/sweat tape and either wrap that straight onto the wheel or use it to hold foam sheeting in place.

The tape is about 25mm wide x at least a metre, and comes in various colours and textures.

You'll probably need to also buy some coloured electrical tape to match racquet tape colour, as this is needed to very hold end of racquet tape in place.

Probably lots of quides on youtube on how to re-tape a racquet but maybe struggling to find one on how to do a steering wheel

The alternative to racquet tape is bicycle handlebar tape - likely the same sort of stuff as used on racquets, but groovier styles. Have a look HERE on something I found on ebay.

Maybe you can be the guinea-pig on modding your wheel and let us know how you get on and give tips.

Customizing G27 wheel

For about half a year now I have the Logitech G27. I love it. H-shifter feels kinda cheap, but the pedals are okay and the wheel itself gives great feedback and I've even improved a bit. Before this I had a Logitech MOMO Racing. The thing about the G27 is that the steering wheel itself is so thin. It also has a pretty big diameter. If you look at a real racing wheel or a custom G27 wheel, you can see how thick the grip is (or what's the proper name for it?).

Instead of buying a custom wheel I'd really like to make the grip thicker, myself without making the wheel bigger. So a bit more grip on the inside/front. Maybe some kind of thick foam or something? How could I go about doing this?

I'm interested in seeing how real I can make this simulator. The first thing on the agenda for me is to get the G27 map 1:1 with the driver's steering. I can't for the life of me manage to get this to work even in the options. I am also using this with an Oculus Rift DK2. Any recommendations for making this as realistic as possible?

Thanks.

I've used G27 pedals and though they were great until I got CSR Elite pedals which features a really stiff load cell.

I think that if you can do that with a potentiometer it's a good idea.

Guys, another question, I have my G27 set to 900 degrees, and ingame set to 900 degrees too...

But depending on the car, the game automatically "reduce" the rotation to sync to the car, but it only sync the rotation, not the FFB limiter...

For example even NFS Shift 2, that is a bad game with horrible FFB, if you put 900 degrees on profiler and in game, the game automatically put a FFB limiter on 400 degrees if the car turns 400 degrees...

But on assetto corsa, if your car turns like 270 degrees, you can turn your wheel until you hit the physical limiter, while the ingame wheel is locked at 270 degrees, so you have 630 useless degrees that makes recovering from oversteer pretty hard...

Am I using any wrong settings, or the game is just like this?
New Driver with G27 and DK2

Hi I am new and a Oculus Rift DK2 owner, first post

I bought LFS as soon as I saw that they support the DK2, Its it very awesome I use to have a Genius F1 cheap wheel, but got a G27 recently (a bit of a difference).

I am not a very good driver at them moment but I am practicing, Ive got banned from one server for bad driving, I wasn't warned or anything or I couldn't see it because of the rift, but I am not protesting my ban, I did read the ban post, and will contact the server I got banned from, as soon as I can drive better.

here's my questions:
- Can you get actual car models? and where's the best place? I did find in Google one but they want me to share in FB before I can download, that I am not going to do.

- How do you get your SR 65%+ mines 61% because I made a few mistakes

and that's all for now, I really enjoy this Sim.

Hi everyone, I am new to Live for Speed, since receiving my Oculus DK2 last week I have been racing non stop with Live for Speed and loving every second of it. It is a fantastic sim combined with the rift it's even better. Here is something I would like to share with the community.

A fellow sim racer and I are developing something very unique for the G25 and G27 pedal set. We are hoping you may be able to help us by giving us your feedback and suggestions so that we can eventually come up with something that every G25 and G27 owner will love. Just to be clear these are not for sale and we will not try to advertise or sell them via this forum. If we can get enough interest we will announce something through the correct channels.

Please feel free to comment here or mail us at [email protected]

thanks in advance for any comments or suggestions, cheers AussieStig

Set profiler to 900 degrees.
Set LFS to 900 degrees. (Actually I use 870, because although the G27 rotates 900 degrees, the position sensor only actually works up to 870 degrees)
Set Wheel Turn Compensation to 1.

Rejoice that the wheel matches the in-game wheel. Only the soft end-stops are missing, but most often they're too weak anyway when you're turning the wheel in anger.

Edit: if you do want to set the wheel rotation in profiler (or use the magic button presses):

Set profiler to X degrees.
Don't bother setting the rotation in LFS, it'll be ignored by below.
Set Wheel Turn Compensation to 0.

Rejoice that the wheel matches the in-game wheel, with soft end-stops. Get annoy that you have to switch out of LFS to change the wheel rotation for each car. Fortunately all the road cars are 720.

Edit2: for clarification, Wheel Turn Compensation is primarily used to make wheel action non-linear, for those with wheels limited to something like 180 or 270 degrees, as otherwise it can be a pain trying to go straight. When the wheel's rotation is greater than the car's rotation, it is effectively a binary toggle between using full-range (0) and adding dead zones to match the car's rotation (1)

non of lfs cars use 900° so why use incorect setting..
make lfs profile, specific game setting. and change rotation as you chanange car.
basic rule: when you turn your g25/27. or what ever full turn wheel you have,
wheel in your hands(g25/g27....) MUST turn identical as is does in lfs.
if it doesent you have bad settings.

just got myself a g27 recently, all i needed to do was to set wheel rotation too 900° in the logitech profiler (options -> global settings) then it did just fine in all games.
also check that u have wheel turn compensation set to 0!

There are different wheel categories.
- Entry level is logitech dfgt (if we ignore the most cheapest wheels).
- Then you have the mid level wheels. Fanatec 911 turbo s, gt3rs, gt2, g27, g25.
- After that you get to the upper mid level where you basically get the best you can buy with reasonable amount of money: fanatec csw and thrustmaster tr500. Then there is the oddball wheel which is the fanatec csr-e which is basically csw with xbox compatibility but also lacks some of the bits the csw has. The csr-e is not the same as the fanatec csr which is basically 911 turbo s with the csr-e wheel rim.

Basically all the fanatec wheels that have the same plastic base (except the early 911 and gt-something wheel are extremely similar) are the same wheel for pc sim racing and the only difference is the wheel rim style and material. The csr-e and csw have the new base which is basically one step above the mid level wheels.

After that it gets insanely more expensive. You get the eccis, frexes, with way over 1000€ price tags. And after that at about 2000+€ there is the accuforce and simsteering wheels with their servo motors. And those prices are without pedals.

If you want a better wheel but not spend the money you could look for used tr500 or csw.

Quote from nikopdr :Also I could assume Fanatec's GT3RS and GT2 wheels would be also quite a bit better, but I haven't really tested Fanatec's wheels myself, so I can't say anything.

Those are basically all the same wheel without the xbox compatibility and with different rim material/style.

If your budget allows some more expensive choices then the T500RS would be the way to go. Like CardsetCrazy mentioned above the G27 would just be a downgrade of your current wheel.

Also I could assume Fanatec's GT3RS and GT2 wheels would be also quite a bit better, but I haven't really tested Fanatec's wheels myself, so I can't say anything.

I think G27 would be big downgrade from your current wheel. At least that's what I've heard from guys who has moved from G27 to different Fanatec wheels.
Fanatec porsche 911 turbo s upgrade?
mrgreen72

Like the title hinted at, I currently have a Fanatec porsche 911 turbo s wheel with the Clubsport pedals that I bought a while ago because it worked on both PC and Xbox 360.

Now it doesn't work on Xbox One because Microsoft, it's discontinued and after playing with it (With my Oculus DK2) for a few nights straight I think it doesn't feel all that great.

I'd like to know what you guys think would be a worthy upgrade?

The G27 is probably the most supported wheel out there and it's relatively cheap but does it really feel that much better than what I currently have?

The new Fanatec wheels cost $500 for the base and a few hundreds more for the wheel, so I think it's a little expensive, especially considering I haven't been that thrilled with my Fanatec wheel.

Thanks for your time!

I just want to say thank you for adding DK2 support.

Just like the DK1 Support, it works just perfect. Im sooooooo glad that I´ve bought this game and Im convincing everyone i know with a DK2 to buy it. With my g27 and the positional Tracking the Immersion is almost perfect. Now we just need to somehow simulate G-Forces
G27 No FFB in game

I've been going through the forums before posting and still no luck.

My G27 had FFB before and now in just LFS it no longer has any. Only time the wheel has any force what so ever is when i enable centering spring in force feedback games. Witch for drifting and in general kind of defeats the purpose.

So here's what I've done so far. I've reinstalled everything multiple times, restarting my PC after everytime and after every program install. Deleted and reinstalled the G27 drivers. I've tried different ports (USB 2.0 and 3.0 also back and front panel).

I also have had my friend over teamviewer look at it and he try fixing it with no luck. So at this point I'll try any voodoo magic, witch craft to get my wheel to work again. My wheel works just fine in everything else (rFactor, iRacing, Assetto Corsa).

Thanks for your help.
