Dont listen to all those ungreatfull idiots Scawen & co. ... You have made a car sim that IMO are far better in physics and feel, than most of the big game producers ever could do. One thing I would like to see in LFS, was a big city for us cruisers. A sort of pre-made cruise track.

The feel of driving with a wheel in lfs, and specially G27 is damn awsome.

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

I cant see why you guys are complaining so much, it isn't S3, it isn't iRacing 2.0. Its supposed to be a game for F1 fans that just want the thrill to be side by side with another car. The physics is just an addon for me.

My attitude for F1 2011 was negative... untill I tried it, it was fun and still is. Sure there are some things not 100% right, mainly the steering lagg, but theres an option that will fix that and you wont have any lagg at all, you just need to settle down and not rush things by instantly nitpicking on everything you see.

Now about F1 2012, the physics is extemely different, FF feels great to be an arcade game. Only thing is that I feel its hard to navigate compared to F1 2011, but I can learn this.

My advice is, download the game and try it without looking at the comments here on this forum.

My settings:
G27, 300 Deg.
Go to wheel settings, change to "custom", go down to "override device plugin" or something at the bottom, change it to steeringwheel, now configure all your axis and buttons and try again. Remember to turn FF on.

need help with steering

Hi i downloaded a skin to my game and with it came a file that also changed the steering wheel °'s so that my G27 now got like 90° for full lock instead of the 900° it should have. so i need help with getting the file back to normal and i wouldn't mind any file that make the xrt a 900° lock instead of 720°

with regards Alcatrazz

Currys were selling the G27 for £149.99 brand new, you will find it cheaper locally than paying for it to be shipped.
[G27] Car with 6th gear, only semi-automatic

Hi, I have the G27 and like to drift in LFS, but when I use cars with a 6th gear, LFS won't let me shift manually, even though I have a 6th gear assigned.

For that wide array of 6 gear cars, the program only lets me use the flappy pedals, which I don't like. Is this problem caused by my G27, by the game, or by my inability to choose correct settings?

Thanks in advance

Xwang, yes, you have it right. For what it's worth, I highly recommend the G27 as I prefer leather and steel over plastic and foam rubber.

Quote from rowdog :I have both the DFGT and the G27 and run Arch on both computers. Both wheels work great and have force feedback support. I love my G27 but the DFGT works great for half the money (here in the USA).

If you have driven with a wheel and know that you love it, get the G27. If you're not sure, or don't have the money to spend, get the DFGT; it's good enough and not that expensive. Well, at least for the people where I live.

PS: I use the script I posted above to set the range I want, though I use 270 rather than 180 now.

Thank you for reporting your experience.
I've read on the net that the biggest difference between the two steering wheel is the feeling of pedals. More in detail the G27 are perfect while DFGT are too soft. Moreover G27 has the clutch pedal and the H gear shifter.
Since I've already used a low price wheel (no feedback and only combined brake and accelerator pedals), I'm wondering if it is the case to buy directly the G27 considering that Grand Prix Legend simulates the 1967 F1 season in which the use of manual H shift gear with cluth should give more realism.
Is it right?

Quote from MadCatX :I don't have any first hand experience with DFGT, but all the bits are there in the driver, so at least the native mode and FFB should work out of the box. I'm not sure about the separated pedals. I'd have to take a look at DFGT's HID descriptor, but even if it doesn't work right away, it should be fairly possible to fix it with a simple kernel patch.
Unfortunately I can't comment on GPL, but we've had no problems with WINE or games picking the tested wheels up.

Ok thank you for your help.
I'm still thinking if it is better for me to buy the DFGT or if I should buy the G27 (which has the clutch and the H shift which I don't know if is recognized in GPL under wine).
Maybe I can search for a used G27.

Quote from MadCatX :As an Arch Linux user you have the latest kernel 3.5 available (unless you're using some -lts version). Kernel 3.2 and above have support for Logitech gaming wheels (DFP, DFGT, G2x), kernel 3.5 even supports the LEDs on G27. If you're running such a kernel, you should not need LTWC anymore. If you run into any trouble, feel free to post it here...

Wow perfect!
Today I've seen in a shop a Logitech Driving force GT sold at 139.98€
Since the G27 costs in the same shop the double, I think I will choose the DFGT.
So you can confirm me that it is perfectly recognised on linux and wine (separated pedals, 900° and force feedback).
Can someone, who has the DGFT and linux, test if Grand Prix Legends recognises it correctly?
Thank you,
Xwang

PS is DFGT a good choice or it is better to invest more money and buy the G27?

Hi to all,
I'm an arch linux user (64 bit) and I'm restarting gaming with Grand Prix Legend and Live for speed with wine.
I would like to buy a better steering wheel compared with my trust GM3200 one (which has combined pedals and no Force Feddback).
What is the best and fully functional one I can find?
It seem to me that G25/G27 work well with LTWheelConf. Is it correct? Is there any cheaper wheel which I can consider?Thank you,
Xwang

Anyone using G25/G27 with a Logitech Attack 3 joystick for handbrake? I'm wondering how much space it would take up with the H-Shifter. Also, gear knobs... how do you fit an aftermarket one? Is it as easy as a few screws?

Quote from the_angry_angel :Like the naturalpoint TrackIR? Or the fact that there's a whole, documented, supported API for manipulating the game that people use to build dashboards, their own head tracking using Wii motes and so on?

Certainly better supported than other games...

Don't get me wrong here, InSim in a great gift to the community.
Your post seems a little misleading though. TrackIR is not bespoke. I wouldn't be surprised if adding support for it is easier than driving the G27's LEDs
Third-party hobby projects are not equivalent to first-party hardware support.

I'd love it if Scawen came out and made a fool of me by supporting HMDs in the next few years.

Quote from MadCatX :The phrasing of his question was a little ambiguous. I thought he asked about the possibility of making the LEDs flash just once when the engine reaches the redline. The flashing is totally out of programmer's control which would make this request somewhat difficult to fulfill.

This is exactly what he asked!
G27 is doing that by itself with the simple IF I said before, so using this .cfg lines will make the leds flash when you reach redline.

First of all, without Logitech gaming software (aka Profiler) you won't enjoy much your wheel because you won't be able to set it to 900º.

ETS 2 wheel work perfect with a G27, as it have complete support for clutch, gears (even hi/low range), it lets you adjust deadzone, linearity, etcetera.

In fact, it (will) works as agood as any game released after 2007.

Bose, the relasease date is somewhere between "September and when it's done", they are trying to achieve that goal, I just hope it to be 2012 and I'd be happy
Euro Truck Simulator 2 + G27 = possible?

This is the only place i trust to ask this question to...

So, is there anyone here who plays Euro Truck Simulator or Euro Truck Simulator 2 with G27? I would like to know, before i buy the game, that is it suitable for the wheel.
In some games, there's need to downgrade Logitech Profiler, so do i have to do it in this one?

And also, is it suitable for Windows 7?

Thanks :P
