G27 -- Three years later
Mountaindewzilla
S2 licensed
For the impatient: G27s do not last a drifter for three years.

It's quiet at first, but gets loud because of some gear tensioner mechanism that was poorly engineered. There is no simple fix.
The accelerator pedal starts malfunctioning too quickly. It can be cleaned or replaced (voiding your warranty).
The shifter starts to malfunction after a couple of years. I think it can be fixed, but haven't yet looked into it. My warranty has already expired.

Take a look at my LFSWorld stats, and you'll see that I really haven't used my wheel that much. I've played other sims, and spent time offline, but I can't imagine that adding up to more than 40-50 hours.

What's the condition of your G27, and how long have you owned it?

G27 here. I think it might be the car? It seems to have a lot of grip and is not very easy to get the tail out anyway. I think I'd need to try more car types to pass judgement on the the FFb/handling. At the moment, I think it it's very good (using LFS as a reference).

You can see pretty similar characteristics in this vid (damp track too). Lots of grip but when it goes, it looks a bit unpredictable.

ps, I am aware they are slightly different models, 111r/SC

Logitech G27 with LFS Problem
Adam the Clown

I made this post (this) and thought the problem was with the G27 itself. It works with the other games it's compatible with, so I figured I would ask here, under LFS issues, hoping to have more luck in solving the issue.
If anyone could help (because this is the only thing I have in my life right now that makes me happy) then it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advanced.

Nobody is fighting, just disscusin about wheels, we cant even know how the other wheels perform because they arent advertised enough, and you dont see them being disscused much, in apart from the G27 which is disscused on a regular base.

Quote from Bose321 :Your trolling is just a tad obvious.

I'd rather have a:
  1. Thrustmaster T500
  2. Any Fanatec wheel (CSW especially)
  3. Leo Bodnar wheel
  4. FREX

To be honest i have heard only about the T500, the other three, never heard of them from anyone, and another problem is that in your local shops you cant even get three of those wheels. In Croatia all you can get from shops are G27, DFGT, Thrustmaster F430, other lower quality thrustamster wheels, and strage japanese wheels for low cost. Fanatec, Leo Bodnar, FREX, all have to be bought over the internet i suppose?

Quote from Bose321 :Wat? You can run LFS on a basic PC, and I wouldn't call a G27 a 'kickass' wheel.

ok ok you're right! 1000$ is far more than you really need to run LFS

i like to have the high res texture pack and 32x FSAA etc etc and an SSD drive to not wait for things

BUT I must disagree that the G25 / G27 is a kickass wheel! Granted there are way better wheels!!! I have never tried them but I'm not saying G27 is "the best"

but kickass?? come on, dual motors so there is like 3% spinning resistance, very decent motor strength, 3 excellent pedals. (edit: 900 degrees rotation so no hitting locks)

that's a good start to being kickass but the real reason I say that is I have driven my wheel, pedals and shifter very hard for year after year and had no problems that a quick cleaning didn't fix (gears dropping out).

stainless steel, baby!

yes, the G27 is kickass

Most will agree with you that the G27/G25 are the best wheels available. There are a small group that like fanatek wheels, but that seems to have dwindled after fanatek stopped their "Here's a free wheel" promotion a few years back.

I know you can run it on a basic pc but I wanted to try pc gaming for the first time and I did. I know G27 isn't that great but its the best one for its price. I know you didn't responded to me to lol.

The response time should be very low. I haven't tested the ping time from my app to the computer, but I will imagine it to be around 10-20ms from my past experiences with UDP communication through wifi.

The only sort of delay will be the low pass filter I am using to smooth out the accelerometer data. However, I've tuned so that the control is both very responsive and smooth. Unless you are constantly going from full left to full right and vice versa 2-3 times per second (from experimental testing), you will not notice the delay of the low pass filter.

Compared to an actual wheel like a g27 or dfgt, there is a delay. But that delay is so small that it has no effect on control performance and response.

PC / Race room project
FPVaaron
S2 licensed
For many moons I have wanted to make a dedicated gaming room and in the past week it has started to become a reality.
One of my spare bedrooms which was initially used for drying clothes on a $13 clothes hanger is slowly being converted into a PC gaming room.

My girlfriend is moving in mid month and figured it was time to start the project

I started this last week, it's come to a pause on the racing part until I get my new living room TV and put the current 50" plasma into the gaming room for the race sims.
Here's some progress so far..
I've moved the clothes hanger to the backroom. a difficult task having it fold and buckle at nearly every foot step while constantly being told off for not first taking the clothes off the hanger and leaving behind a trail of socks and underwear, followed by a lecture about why I don't just use the line outside in the sun. Of course my excellent logic on the fact it's too far to walk was sufficient enough.

Next was to fit two desks into the room, one for Lisa's PC and one for mine, mine is still in the bedroom because I can't sleep without a movie on. it will stay here until I buy another internal hard drive for my old PC and set it up for movie watching sleep purposes.

The desks them selfs are called "blaze" which is a pretty cool name I thought and only took 7 long hours of complicated assembly manuals to complete.
The chairs, achieve executives were priced the same price each as the desks, but they're very comfy.

The TV unit which has been sitting in my other spare room for a while that I once used living back at my mums house has now been utilized. and my G27 on my old wheel stand pro I used in front of the couch was put in place for a good idea of space managment for my concept.

Lisa brought her computer over a few days later which I set up while she was at work and it was my day off. she's not happy with the speaker position I allocated despite it looking incredibly awesome.
(Please excuse the messy desk the room isn't finished yet.)
I superglued a 6 plug powerboard to the back my desk (the right one) I won't show you this as it's meant to be hidden.

After a bit of searching I found the perfect GTpro wheel stand and thank god I chose a mazda CX-7 for my company car or I would have never got it home. after much time spent abusing the wiring layout on the G27 I finally got it in and looking quite neat. A rug from my bedroom was used. I initially bought this rug to divide up my bedrooms black color scheme but I think it's put to better use having my cockpit not slide around.

I'd estimate I'm about 2 months away from completion at this stage pending my decision on what TV I want for the living room. however I will continue to update on other progressions.

Hi people,

I want to introduce my drift team and drift server.

A little history about my team:

I made my 1st team 2 years ago under the name "KBD Drifters". What means KBD ? Simple ! Keyboard Drifters. Especialy the players were only mouse and keyboard drifters like me. It was a nice growing team with genuine people mostly. I ran my server on my own PC than Laptop every day for long hours. After one year I decided that I buy a Logitech G27 so I was thinking about to change the team name. After a lot of talking about the new team we stacked at [MassiveDynamic]. A lot of people left the team then , just one player "sixkiler" remained with me. He bought his own wheel than we started to practice a lot of every day to be good drifters. After a while slowly the team has began to grow again. About one months ago I rented a server so now we are 0-24 hours open in all year with our RealTime Drift Insim.

About the team:

We are 8 in the team at the moment.

OK time to update the community with some SR news! Sorry for the long post but it has been a while

As most of you know, we have been very inactive (especially me) since before our 10th Birthday (October 2012), so first things first, we would like to thank everyone for all their support and friendship over the last 10 years! We have had many people in the team over the time we have been going and it has been great to see them do well in their new teams after leaving us. We hope everyone who left us, left on good terms and with good impressions of the team. We would like to say thanks for being with us Also I would personally like to thank everyone who has stayed with us, even with us being inactive lately.

With the demise of 500 servers, we lost our website and game servers, but we have managed to get the site back (thanks to Tongey and KayJay) and cargame.nl have kindly loaned us a server to practise on, thanks Dave!

With the site back, it has given me the motivation to try to get the team back to being an active team in the LFS community, so here's what has happened in March -

We lost some old SR racers whilst being offline, so first of all welcome back to our old friends listed here - it is great to see you back, you were all missed

[SR] DOC
[SR] Frank
[SR] G. Ribiero
[SR] Iceman

We have also been recruiting new drivers, so we would like to announce these new signings with some comments written by them when they joined -

Our first signing is [SR] Riddick

About Charlie “Riddick” Guerra.
Riddick is 36 years old and comes from (Chile/Germany), He moved to Sweden since he was 8 years old with his parents and sister. His free time he trains Taekwondo and has been one of the best districts in Sweden/Stockholm in TKD, but unfortunately, he had to put it on the side. He is married to his Swedish and beautiful wife, and is also a proud father of a daughter. He can not live without music like Raunchy, Disturbed, Papa Roach...etc. he likes almost everything. Last but not least, he has a limited understanding of English so be nice to him ^^
-------
Our next signing is [SR] A.Valta

Little bit about me, Antti "n gin" Valta. Im 15 years old guy from Pielavesi, Eastern Finland. At the moment i am running the ninth grade, but next year i will go to vocational school. I started LFS in 2010,when my best friend told about this racing game. I was demo driver about 1 year, but after that i bought wheel (DFGT) and s2 license. I started to drive endurance races last year, at first just for fun.
Im interested everything what you can drive especially cars and bikes. Some favorite bands are: Metallica,Iron Maiden,Megadeth,Rammstein etc... And i am really big F1 Fan. What i do when i have free time? - Well, i'm spending time with my friends, surfing the net, driving my car etc. or playing LFS (sometimes playing PS3)
------
Next up is [SR] Litmanen

Hello guys!
It's nice to meet you all and I'm really happy to join this team.
Something about me, I'm 21 years old electrician/automation installer and I live in Lapinlahti, Finland. I've been racing a lot of my spare time now but of course spending time with my friends too. I've played LFS since 2009 but I had about 2 years "break" when I didn't play at all because all kind of college courses and had to be the whole year of 2012 in the army. Now I'm back with a new computer and wheel. (Made a lot of change with times )
Good to be here and hope to see you online soon!
--------
Next to join was our old friends from the AMT team, first [SR] Sermilan

Hi guys, my real name is Milan Radonjic and I've been LFSing for 6 years now. I live in Niš, Serbia. I love racing and racing sims. I tried quite a few racing games/sims, but when stumbled upon LFS, got hooked to the day . Not only that I've found it realistic, but all the things surrounding it (teams, leagues, people...) also fascinated me. In the first couple of years, I tried to be as competitive as I could, but then too much work, then the loss of it and evermore demanding son just got the better of me. Nowadays, I race mostly for fun.
-----
Next was [SR] Vule, also from AMT

Hi friends, my name is Mladen Vukicevic, friends call me Vule. I live in Paracin in the heart of Serbia.

The SR team have come because of good cooperation and good racing. A large reason for joining SR is the similarity with the inscription in my former race car - "Sljivovica Racing - TM" :P
-----
Next was [SR] Ice

AKA Elliot Shaw, another old friend and known to the communty as Ice! Quick in the FOX and anything else we put him in
-----
Last but not least is [SR] J. Rantala

Hello, my name is Joona "CardsetCrazy" Rantala. I started lfs in summer 2009 and played two weeks demo and then i quit and started again with new user in summer 2010. I'm 15 years old for Kouvola, Finland and im in 9th grade and I'll go to the High School next year. I like to drive with my 50cc moped with friends, watch some motorsports and football. I support Manchester United. My favourite artists are E-dubble and Hoodie Allen and favourite TV-series is Blue Mountain State at the moment. When I dont want to play LFS, I usually play Call of Duties or watch some Netflix in PS3. My favourite cars in LFS are FZ2, XR2 and XRG, I hate driving FWD :P I'm driving with Logitech G27.

We hope with these recent signings and with the whole team being motivated we can start to compete again in leagues and of course have great races with you in public servers!

You rest your case at the fact it's ugly, big (seriously, what's with those paddle shifters) and cheap?

There's not a single thing that's better on the Thrustmaster. The pedals are crap, maybe even worse than the G25/27 pedals.

But hey, who am I to judge. I'm obviously biased to good products. If you're looking for a cheap plastic toy, you're better of with a T500. I'd rather get myself a modded G27 over a T500 any day, and that means a lot coming from me.

edit: and a quick search doesn't show €250 for a new wheel?

Sweet man welcome to LFS! If you're on a budget for a wheel you can find a Logitech g27 for around $200 and its perfect for lfs, if you don't have a budget and you want to get even more bang for your buck get a club sport wheel there fairly new. Or a t500rs that has 1080`of rotation just like most street cars.

Have fun playing LFS!

Stop by the RoyalD` servers this weekend!

I've been looking at wheels for about a month now and decided that my G25 should be replaced by a Forza CSR wheel with the G25 pedal adapter (I'll get CSR pedals at a later date).

My G25's FFB 'deadzone' has reached about 40 degrees which is becoming un-drivable, and the shifter is completely knackered. Not bad considering I got it in the very first batch of G25s all those years ago and it's had constant use/abuse ever since!

I didn't want a G27 because it's too similar to my G25, I'd rather something completely different for the money I'm spending.

I didn't want the T500 because I've had Thrustmaster wheels in the past and they were to put it bluntly, shite! One broke within 3 weeks of getting it, the warranty replacement lasted little over 2 months - and this was their fairly expensive at the time Ferrari wheel.

I've looked at pretty much every review there is online for wheels and the CSR seems to be the best one out there in the £200 price range, the biggest plus points for me is the belt drive and the buttons on the wheel, plus the fact I don't get pedals with it when I have a perfect condition set of G25 pedals to use.

I have seen worrying messages about their customer service, but have read elsewhere if you document problems well (with video and pics) and supply as much information as possible then they're pretty good.

Now I just have to wait until it arrives!
