have you ever drifted your real car? And done so at speeds of 100kph (60mph) PLUS!? I doubt it. So I don't think you can suggest that standard tyres on our cars heat up slower compared to lfs.
100kph feels quite slow in lfs, but in real life is about the fastest you'll ever do on the road. standard road tyres heat up alot quicker than you'd think when pushed to the limit or past. go flog your car around a circuit somewhere and see for yourself
EDIT: I am using this thread to also add other racing layouts i create. So be sure to check the whole thing!
OK here is an interesting idea I had!
It's named Precision Raceway, due to all of the corners being mapped out as accurately as possible.
It's quite a short and simple layout, however extremely tricky to perfect!
Here is an overview of the track. T1 is a massive 450Degree corner with tightening radius.
T1 in more detail. initially each barrier is 1degree more than the one next to it, results in a gentle curve. then after 90degrees, it doubles in tightness (2degree intervals) after 180degrees it tightens again (4degree intervals)for the remaining 180.
From there it's straight into a sharp lefthand (double again, 8degree intervals) and onto the rear straight.
Back down to the final turn, 4 degree intervals.
Layout file here.
Track suits MRT, and slow cars such as UF1, XFG, XRG. Faster cars cause more of a death trap unless the driver is really careful, TBO may well work ok also.
good! alot of people who played when i had it loaded on the server started off on that time. but since you've finished it once you shouldnt find it very hard to do it again, and do it better
sorry mate i just re-read my post, sounded like i was aiming at you. was meant to just be replying to everyone in general smoke is another issue i guess and i dont really have an opinion about it
aside from the fact its on top gear i actually find the track itself pretty boring, it's just an airfield anyway!
the devs could easily make their own airfield with runways and taxi`ing roads which could have multiple configs pretty easily without the licensing costs (if there are any licensing costs)
1:47 was quite difficult, i would aim for sub 2minutes though. if you use the set attached in the thread, and view the spr replay it may give you some hints.
i also recommend a wheels only view, such as one like this
the racers of the lfs community had to adjust to tyre wear and fuel usage when s2 was released, drifters must do the same. same thing regarding steering lock reductions. the more serious drifters will welcome these new changes and adjust their drifting to suit.
didn't you notice post #8?
Stanley's gotta be one of the best drifters around in S2, and even he doesn't see the need for some theoretical tyre which grips yet wears slower than normal rubber does. and how can tyres which have crap grip for racing suddenly be good for drifting? drifting needs grip also, otherwise you'd have to lower the speeds at which you drift at, to stop yourself from sliding off the road.
real life drifters have to deal with the savage tyre wear that their driving styles cause, so do you the REAL lfs drifters have accepted it and moved on happily. be thankful new tyres are only a pitstop/pitwarp away and that you're not having to pay for them
i seem to recall hearing an explanation to this, and why locked wheels will stop you quicker. however the reason the whole ABS was invented is because it simply isn't safe to stop with all 4 wheels locked.
i certainly remember in S1 i had a drivable set which was brakes split 50/50 with max power, locked up instantly everytime but it pulled up quicker than anything else out there
however with the realism of tyre wear, locking up all 4 wheels may pull you up quicker, but you'll be stuffed trying to race again from that point onwards.
sounds like you may have been lagging a bit on that server. if you connect to a sever which has a high ping, other users may see your car warp around a bit.. or disappear for a few seconds at a time before re-appearing.. or not appearing at all...
the person who accused you of using hacks obviously has no idea what he's talking about, so i wouldnt take any notice of him. he's accusing you of using some kind of illegal modification to the game, which you weren't
only thing i can recommend is that you connect to servers which appear near the top of the server list, they are arranged in order of which one you got the fastest ping to. faster ping = less lag = less worries goodluck
hmmm... mate certain sections look strikingly similar to my old layout.. i wouldnt complain but i can see you just started with my layout and did some changes
you'd have a nvidia card of somekind right? 6600GT or similar? I had this problem many many months ago however it since disappeared by using the latest nvidia forcewear drivers.
however in the meantime, if this does happen ingame, i found a fix for it.
when it happens to you next, don't quit LFS!!! instead, press Shift F9, this is the hotkey to change resolution to 640x480 in LFS. the change of resolution is enough to get the cursor functioning back as it should be, and from there you can go back into the options and set your normal res again.
however to make things easier, go into OPTIONS to the "SCREEN" page, and configure the "key assign" For example, you can leave F9 as 640x480, but change the F10 one to your normal resolution.
that way when the problem happens again, all you have to do is press "Shift F9" then "Shift F10" directly after and it will be fixed and set at the right resolution again.
sorry there is no other fix i am aware of but i would recommend you try some newer nvidia drivers
Unfortunately Scawen though it's a "sad" solution it's probably the only way to resolve the issue. Even 1-200 people would probably be sufficient, since what you'd be after is a wide variation of hardware (and even operating systems) to pick up any bugs/issues.
That way you get the answers you need without the requests, not to mention the many "thanks for the new patch - only" replies.
