The F550 arrived today and all that I can say is

Effectively it made a 21" monitor out of my 17" for $40 and I can even have the virtual 21" monitor closer than I had the 17" (just over the body of my wheel)...

The only little drawback is that the text close to the edges is harder to read, but that can be cured by moving the lens back a bit making the image smaller...

Quote from Hyperactive :(don't want to use unlock as the things are improving all the time, maybe a P12 when it's officially released)

OT: updating does not lock your copy of LFS... I have unlocked S2 the day it came out and never again...

Quote from kamkorPL :Chaos: Watch it on video google. I don't have any good hosting so this is best I could come up with. Unfrotunally the video quality is quite low on video google compared to the file I hosted on rapidshare. Still, enjoy.

awesome video! thank you!

Quote from 96 GTS :I had a question too, how come sometimes you get a stop/go penalty and sometimes you get a 45sec time penalty?

this happens when the end of the race is near and you could not carry out the drive through / stop&go penalty...

btw. IRL you have to carry out the penalty in three laps, otherwise you are black flagged - disqualified...

Quote from sil3ntwar :On a slightly off topic note...does the wing height from the ground affect downforce? I would have thought so but i have done some jumps in the FO8 and seen no change in downforce in forces view.

no, the groundeffect is not yet implemented...

Those who say the slipstream effect is ok now are imo wrong, the effect is far too strong. Have you seen DTM or WTCC races? They drive bumper to bumper (literally) and have almost no problems with the cars spinning... I have been watching races for two seasons now on the race track I work at, which has the longest finish straight in europe and I have not seen such drafting as in LFS, the most prestige races run in the Czech Republic are done with cars very close to the FXO (only with slicks) and if they want to pass on the finish straight they have to be almost on the bumper of the leader while exiting the corner and with slipstreaming they only manage to get about half of the car to overlap (chaser's car's front bumper is near the front door's of the leader) before starting to brake... And this is not regulary... Who want's to pass usually does not succeed at the first try... So no way we see the drafting as it is in LFS where you can be 2 car lengths behind the leader and then about in 3/4 of the straigh you zooom past him with no effort...

I agree with n1lyn, because of this "exaggerated" efect its nearly impossible to have close races in the aero cars. Should the drivers be of an equall (top) skill (jet, n1lyn, rudi, etc.) I think it would be nearly impossible for them to pass each other in a race with aero cars... I guess they would have to drive just as far to be out of the reach of the slipstream effect of the leading car, just waiting for the leader to make a mistake... Any getting closer and they would spin... You may say they can drive another line, but when the leading driver sees this, it's no prob for him to change lines and effectively get rid of his attacker by "stealing" his downforce, resulting in a spectacular spin of the attacker...

Not long ago I suggested the same> LINK

err why is it that if I enter the same value for focal length and the distance of the lens from the monitor I get a division by zero?

I think that as long as everybody has his own LFS account and the DLS bandwith holds up, there shoud be no problems...

Good job guys! LFS needs this a lot and over time I think we will succeed in getting "our" game in the press

Quote from colcob :It could easily be implemented as an offline only car

I like this idea! Leave the demo cars as they are now, but add one with slicks for offline mode only...

Vote cancel by admin

Is there a possibility to do this? I have not found it...
I think it would be good to have this, since sometimes the drivers start voting and it would be good to cancel it...
I know it's possible to /vote no , but that's not good if the admin is not present and if he is present it's not good since he has to do all the commands...
Sometimes leting people vote is ok, but should there be some bad voting going on it would be good to be able to cancel it...

Quote from Stellios :It would be really nice to just have a huge long piece of tarmac, or a really long ring to test your top speeds on. Some cars cant hit top speed on the oval, and it would be nice to be able to figure them out.

In my opinion.

I don't know, to me, the top speed on a particular track is important, not the top speed of the car, which I will never achieve while racing (except a few occasions, like drafting a FZ50 with the LX6 on Kyoto Nat )...

Well I have organised a 2 class event and it was a succes.
We had the TBO+LX4 vs FZ50, RAC, LX6 classes, it was a race of pairs, each pair had to have one car from each class, the grid was made from the sum of the times of the pair, with the pair standing next to each other, the faster car on the left, slower on the right.
The final standing was made also by pairs, sum the final position of each member of the pair, the lower the number the higher the final position, in the case of equal sum, the relative positions of the faster class cars decided the final position...

Quote from Bob Smith :But what is it with people translating names? I don't care what country I'm in I'm still going to introduce myself with my name.

it is not translating, i don't know if its the right name, but could be that it's inflection.
in the czech language we have 7 forms>
(you ask and the reply is: )
1. Who, what - Bob Smith
2. without who, what - Boba Smithe
3. give it to whom - Bobovi Smithovi
4. you see who, what - Boba Smithe
5. you call - Bobe Smithe
6. about who - Bobovi Smithovi
7. with whom - Bobem Smithem

So not making these "changes" makes it sound wierd in our language...

Should I translate then "Smith" means "Kovář"
