Quote from AndroidXP :E: Used my l33t PSP skills to draw a highly scientific 100% real illustration

yup, your scientific illustration is right... only to make it clearer, it is a view from behind/infront of the car

Quote from ORION :This works only for hosts, not for admins, doesnt it?

that is quite possible... I know that it does NOT work for admins...

Quote from 180sx :Good idea but i think theres gotta be a way to dectect afk'ers. and if they are afk then the would not go onto grid.
i have been in many event races and had to wait to join in appropriate grip position. but if the admin picks the grid the afk ppl would be sitting ducks on race start

nope, making the grid and clicking on "ready" are two separe things for people to do...
the idea is to remove the waiting that happens when I start to arrange the grid, two people join and the third is afk, so everybody has to wait till he comes back, then I can continue to arrange the grid... usually after the grid is ready i give 3 minutes break, then everybody has to click on the green "ready" button and the race starts only when everybody IS ready...
Quote from Goop :Instead of doing the organizing on the left, like with AI races, do it in the middle - i.e. after racers have clicked join

the idea is that the racers would not need to click join... the admin would do that for them...

We definitely need a rwd nonaero race car with slicks to compete with the XFR/UFR... This is what i really miss in S2 I'd love to race in this class but sorry, for me fwd just sucks...
Let the admin arrange the start grid

I think it would be good for league admins if there was the possibility to "build" the startgrid in the pre-race screen. Now you have to call each driver by his name and wait till he joins (and sometimes they are afk so everybody has to wait). Clicking someones name would add them, the "-" would stay as it is now and add an up/down arrow so that you could move each joined racer.

It is not that you can't have more HP, the thing is that more HP is useless since the tyres can't put it to ground...

well throttle imputs would make the rpm jump up... not down, below the idle rpm....

Engine idle bug?

When I finished the race, some time after i stopped, the whole car started to shake and it looked like the engine ran on 3 cylinders... you can see in the replay what the rpm did...
here you can only see the rpm do wierd things, but when it was live, the whole car shaked pretty quicky (like 1mm up and down, very fast...)

Quote from bbman :Even then, the seller is still able to play (online as well!), as long as he doesn't lock LfS again (or the buyer is playing)...

nope, if the buyer changes the game password, then the seller is only able to play offline...

well i think its not a problem for the buyer to change the passwords...

The truth is in there

Obviously, Eric can use a mouse (and more than one imo), but it's almost impossible for him to use a keyboard

Quote from Spiders :Is S2 anygood?

It depends on what you mean by "good" ...

If you think it is good at taking your social life away, then YES! If you think it is good for enjoying everynight racing, then YES! If you think it is good at how real it simulates the real thing, then YES! But if you think it is good at taking corners at 200 kph or at tuzing your car, then a big NO!

what we need is a clone of the HalfLife TV... game-server > spectator-server > hundreds of spectators... this way the game-server's load is raised like only one spectator was connected...

Quote from Bluestream :Seriously are you joking? I mean oval how fun does that sound? Weel I guess that's not my problem

well don't write it off that fast... I was also anti-oval, but after I tried, I was nicely surprised... But for me its only for fun... not for racing..

I can only agree that it takes time for a league to get more people... I started the Czech national league 2 years back with 11 racers. Time went by, their numbers increased and the last league had 75 racers singned in (68 participated at least once)...

So heads up, keep up the good work and people will come...

Quote from Seahorse :Checked that, nope. Is there a maximum number of setups you can have?

I guess yes, because one of the lines in translation is: "Reached maximum number of setups"

Quote from janm :I, for instance, like the keyboard ''feeling'' very much. As said in the upper posts, practice is vital to get results and also getting to know how the car reacts to your style of driving and adapting the style to the car if needed...
I'm currently only a second off the wr in demo and there are even faster keyboarders out there...I find the mouse a bit tricky and can't drive as agressively as with a keyboard. The mouse steering is a specific thing and requires spot on accuracy to get the fastest times i guess...

well i can imagine driving alone on the keyboard, but what i can't imagine is racing... how do you handle if someone hits your rear wheel or when you find yourself having to drive across curbs, etc. or you find yourself in any other unexpected situation, that requires quick and precise steering input?

I know it's not a prob with mouse/wheel, because you can steer as fast you manage, but with keyboard you are limited to what you have set in options...

Quote from Funnybear :BTW, when do you guys use the clutch? I have never felt the need to use during racing? Is there a certain time and a place when the clutch aids your speed or handling? (I am using auto clutch.)

not in normal racing, but it's handy when you spin out and want to get the car facing the right way quickly...

Quote from Takumi_Project.d :
the answer? use A for accelerate, Z for brake, X for clutch, space for handbrake. This leaves your right hand free to steer with the mouse, and shift gears with the mouse buttons.

Excatly the set I used for over a year until I got a wheel and I can say i was very competetive with the wheel guys...

I'd vote for this to be the default mouse setting for LFS...

well in my opinion in S2 there are basically 3 types of racing:

1. leagues - you practice one track/car combo for the next event... usually there are more such people (practicing for the league), so you get to race the combo online... (not every evening, but pretty often (depends on league))

2. random public - you just pick a populated server and off you go... you race with someone practicing for another league or random people that have joined

3. everlast public - there are a few combos, that can be found I'd say every evening, server almost always populated... for example AS National - GTR class, KY Oval - FO8, Blackwood - FOX, SouthCity Classic - FOX, UF1...

i think ist a safety measure to protect the master server, because i think that every time you click on a server, the master server is contacted...
