Yeah, I'm all for limiting the setup options on cars like the RAC, MRT, FB1, FBM.... those are real cars, after all!

Also, since we have limited the "steering lock" because "no real car has that much" we should also have some of the things be limited more.

however, for the street cars, I will sugest this mid list:

Aftermarket wheels/tires (hence size(unsprung mass) and width be modifiable to a certain extent, and have like, Auto-x slick coices, Advan Ao48 equivalent choices, down to high-preformane all season tyre choices that should "techically" last 40,000 miles.

Maybe the brake bias and force should be set to best possible and locked? dunno, so many things you could do with this stuff, yes it MAY sound unrealistic, but then, you can mod a production car to have this range of tunability.

Quote from spanks :The engine damage does not happen until much higher than the fuel cutoff.

Many times since the new patch I have found myself getting a bit...carried away when downshifting, and gone down one gear too many. It happens to me a lot in the last turn in SO6...I find myself hitting 1st instead of stopping at 2nd. Anyways, it tends to go 500 to 1000 rpm higher than the rev limiter, however it does not damage the engine. I am guessing that the engine damage is still up at the rpm from patch X. The XRT and such are practically impossible to damage because you would drive the car to 9k rpm sometimes, and it would only get damaged if you down shifted and went above that.

Now, I could be completely wrong...but I haven't gotten any engine damage since the patch, and I think with the new rev limiter telling us that the engine will be damaged if spun higher than that, we should start getting some minor damage at least 300 rpm higher than the cutoff.

No, this is actualy about right... you can do this to a rotary no problem when its only for short stints up to 9000rpm, only way to REALLY damage an engine, is when you get crazy detonation because of too much boost, and too little fuel, then shit goes BANG.

also, it depends heavily on the type of engine.... some are WAY less prone to over-revving damage than others.

Quote from Woz :I am the same here. Before firefox was out I looked at Opera but when I found it had adverts/monitoring until you purchased I avoided. Problem is the spyware is always there.

Big -1.

They can purchase S1, I jusst dont get the problem. Are people so poor that they can't spend £12 even though they have a PC that can run LFS.

That was the beta version... Opera i now 100% add free, a great program, and I use it and am much more comfortable with it than with FF.

Seriously through, the game needs a preformance sedan, wether it be a FWD car like like the Accord Euro-R, or an M-3 sedan, i dont care, I would race it!

However, before ALL that, we should have a proper rally section for the game, not just this foolish rally-cross nonsense. Me wants a tarmac/ dirt-like pikes peak mountain road and some anti-lag fun!

Again forgive my photoshop skills (even though this took AGES).

Oh, come on now... that's just an MR2 with a FR front end.

You would need to mod the front and make the "ex-engine" bay smaller/ re-do the suspension due to more room and better design options/etc. A LOT more work than that.

But it DOES look interesting.

Quote from DragonCommando :Remove locked diffs from anything but Drag, I don't think rally cross uses locked diffs.

At least this way, it gives the demo users (myself included) just one more thing to buy the game for. (although I'm already getting it)

OMG OMG OMG!!!! Guys, lets give a handshake to this dude!!! This is like, awesome that a demoer is FINALLY getting S2, instead of bitching about shit all the time!

Quote from legoflamb :turn off everything except the ffb in the profiler. If thats no help then too bad cause its the dfps fault, and save up some money for a G25 to solve the problem.

You know what's funny about that? The shifter on my DFP has been a bit sloppy lately on the downshifts.

Yeah, I'm fine when grip racing, but when it comes to having such a good time and having to concentrate on so much when you first start sliding in order to stay in control, THATS when you get lost in the gears... But, oh well, I'll just try to drive better.

you can really ingore that. put some grease on there if you are worried about it... how the hell does that happen anyway? That one guys G25 is just fine. Prolly used a shitty batch of metal for that one, that happens in mass-produced shit sometimes.

Yeah, I'm deffinitely getting a G25 soon. Should I get "used" to save money, or new to be shure it wont break? Don't these have warranties or something, anyway?

Guys, here's the thing however, that one sedtion of FE, the off camber turn that spectates you for going out of bounds. that has been there forever now, and still no extra FE layout... tis sux... I want to drift that part SO bad...
Mako.

That's just the thing... you would THINK that it's too high, but I drifted a hell of a lot with it today, and didnt even notice!

This was after I read the "deathgrip thread" and tried to relax while driving.

yes, have a neutural and reverse buttons for if you select sequential box (like when you have a DFP!)

Sorry, I started another thread about this, didn't see this one, but it really does the same thing, prevent people from shifting to neutural or reverse if they use sequential transmission.

Quote from ajp71 :I think most sequential gearboxes activate neutral through some other device (and I know they get reverse through a lever) so you shouldn't be able to do it IRL. I accept that you shouldn't be shifting into neutral but a realistic system wouldn't go a miss

Dude! Exactly! They DO have a lever! bike sequentials btw, dont even have reverse, and the first gear is DOWN so this does not happen! Thanks for giving aid to my cause!

Quote from wark :Those cars only have four or five forward gears

If you're having trouble bogging down in first gear (only reason I can imagine wanting to downshift TWICE more), it's probably way too tall!

it's not really bogging down, but downshifting too much while trying to learn how to drift. Everyobody made such a big deal of it, that I wanted to try it, and got this idea as a result. It's notl like you HAVE to have this, but it's just a thought.

also, if you read, I stated the problem was with the indicator being blocked by the steering wheel, not me not being able to visualise.

Case it point: why even have it if we cant see the damn thing? It's not much use, and if I have it in the game, then why should I adapt to not using it, because it's imperfect at the moment? It should be fixed up so that you can see it better.

I use 720 lock btw, just in case you think that I like driving aids, and all that jazz, and try to acuse me of being a cheater.

Oh, and, I dont mod my gear ratios because I dont know how to do it right yet. Gotta learn that some time.

Quote from MAGGOT :Is it that hard to remember (or even visualise) what gear you are in?

Sounds to me like you just keep jamming your stick a bunch of times instead of methodically shifting.

It's kind of hard to focus on gears with the reaction required to no spin all the time while learning to drift right, so yes, your comment is pretty acurate, im trying to focus on timing when I turn the wheel right, not on the gears. It's hard to have to be forced to learn two things at once because of controller limitations.

FFB settings?

Well, because of all the hype with the XRT being removed from the demo, and the "broke dorifto association" and all, I decided to actually try drifting! :OMG!1111!!!!!!!111111111!11!11!1!:

So, I logged on, got patch y, got a drift setup from a friend, and logged onto a server. it was I think, KY GP. I tried my best, but I had a lot of trouble, even after I practiced for 4 hrs, I didnt FEEL like there was much improvement. Here's the hook, through. Yesterday, I had a lot of trouble with the DFP, I kept trying out different FF settings, and I just could not wrestle the wheel, I always reacted too slow, and couldn't turn it fast enough to do much of anything!

I had it at 50 at first, and then went all the way down to 35... still sucked at it. Today, however, I went on an auto-x setup for drifting, on some server, and had a ton of fun, WITH MY WHEEL SET TO 100ffb! And I kind of did it subconsciously, not even noticing it untill I pause for a sec, and went.. "wait.... holy shit, WTF?"

Then, I progressively got worse and worse for some reason... maybe it was just the wheel overheated or something and didnt react as fast, maybe it was me, dunno. But, I had quite a bit of trouble with it. I dunno how I even really did it, but all I know, is that it felt EASIER than 50! Does anyone else get this?

Quote from mantis9 :I used to do that, and then one day I moved the desk I was pulling so hard. So now, I dont clamp the wheel onto the desk as hard, it forces me to be gentle with it otherwise I pull it of the desk!

One thing I cant stop doing and have done since the start, is tilting my head to the side. No matter how hard I try, my head very slowly tilts over to the right and down slightly throughout the race.
By the end of the race Im looking at the screen from a very weird angle, then I realise and straighten up. Anyone else do that?

dude! I like, do exactly the same thing.... But they told me one of my eyes sees better, and that might be the reason. I also wear glasses with different lenses, XD

Well, that's just the thing, I cant SEE the display with the gear on there, if I was using the H box= no problem, but for a sequential, you need the numbers, and if you cant see them well, there is where the problme lies... so we really wont need a netural/reverse lock option if we can see the gears well. Some of the cars with the problem are the UF1000/UFR, and the XRG/XRT.
