^^Well, the AC modding section connected the modders to the racers in a very pleasant way. Feedback for modders to see in an AC atmosphere. The forum design offers a nice interface with easy tools for communication. A gathering place. Time allowing, a new AC focus point will emerge, probably on the internet!
Hm, what input lag? There's none whatsoever with my setup (well, probably measurable, but nothing that can be felt or differs from LFS).
It must be frustrating not to be able to use the markets best sim at the moment (just my opinion). LFS is great too (especially netcode), but it falls behind in many areas now. Hopefully, Scawen has the time and motivation to push LFS back to the throne (considering family/house/hobbies...).
Still use LFS, but if I'm going to Blackwood, it's with the BMW E30 in AC.
I can't compare since I havn't tried the rFactor version. All I can say is that it drives beautifully on my rig in AC. The looks aint bad either .
Random Callsign posted a personal review here if you wish to watch.
My 3yr old son prefer AC over GT and Forza. LFS is the second pick. He can actually do 1 lap at South City...
I believe LFS still has a place in the racing comunity due to the excellent netcode that Scawen provides. AC is good, but LFS is still better at multiplayer.
It sure is a bit of a hassle to install and configure. I'm still on RSRBR2013 for most of the time but also have a 2015 version going.
It's funny how DR actually made me run RBR lately
I did a lot of testing during beta and actually enjoyed it. When it came close to final my interest dropped to nill as it took a direction I didn't like, physics-wise. It's still a very impressive piece of software but it simply doesn't deliver anymore (for me). AC came along and that's where I am now, still collecting revenue from CARS while going total pizza. Think I have +€80 something and promised my wife we'll spend any profits from this project on good wine. Wont go thirsty for a while
Q1: Successor? Not quite due to LFS unrivaled king netcode and overall package completeness. AC is doing the job and brilliant MP races can be had, despite the lack of certain features.
Q2: Worth buying? Absolutely. The FFB/feeling has no competition imo. Just hotlapping puts a big grin on your face.
As a whole, I wish AC reaches the standards of LFS with all it's beautiful solutions/features. Or, that LFS eventually reaches AC levels of tyre physics/FFB (go Scawen! ). The modding community of AC has delivered some very impressive elements (tracks/cars/apps) which speaks for a long life.
In the end, only you can tell if it suits your gaming style.
