Quote from bunder9999 :montreal sucks against boston... i was hoping they both would go far, but that never happened. i'm just glad philly and the rangers didn't go far this year.

I wouldn't have minded for the Rangers, but I do keep a bitter taste of the Phlyers. As for Boston, well it's almost the same story as last year, except that the roles were reversed. We didn't get 7 games, though...

I guess you're hoping for the Hamilton Coyotes?

I'm just so glad Detroit got their asses kicked. They deserved it for being so good <.<

I'm not particularly a fan of the Penguins, but once my team is out, I had to pick one, and it seemed the most likely to make it all the way (out of the eastern teams... boo west :tilt.

On a mostly off topic note, I would like to point out that Santander's logo looks like a pile of smelly dog shit.

That will be all.

Thus, I don't vote.

Hmm.

Driving in a video game by moving your hands, PRETENDING to have hold a wheel is a ludicrous idea. It's a very good way to look like a 3 years old little boy, though.

Driving IRL requires you to have a wheel in your hands, and considering that what we're seeking is realism, I don't see how removing the wheel altogether will make things better than what they currently are.

Besides, I don't see how it can actually be possible to play a FPS game with that thing. If you have to go around your living room pretending to hold a gun, how can you keep your eyes towards the TV? Or do you actually just move your feet also pretending to run around? Heck, you could also jump like an idiot, crouch and fall on the floor when you're hit.

Even if it had exploded, there would be debris. It wouldn't just evaporate into thin air. It's probably somewhere, but they just haven't found it yet. Airbus said that the automatic messages received prior to the signal lost implies problems with automated air speed problems. The air speed displayed on the pilots' instruments might have been wrong, and that's a major problem.

Quote from dawesdust_12 :... We have a lot of land where nobody lives which makes us seem safer.

Can hardly understand how Japan can be 7th and us 8th, then. I mean, how can a tiny island with, what, 150 million people jammed on it be peaceful at all? You probably have a hard time finding an empty spot to be alone in Japan. Here? Just go 10 KM in any direction, starting from anywhere in Canada and you'll find yourself surrounded by trees (and squirrels, yes... maybe they affect the rating).

Funny how 6 out of 10 countries in the top 10 are nordic? Woot snow!

Is that Answers in Genesis billboard even genuine? o.O

Wow, the MRT's are in there? You can't get much deeper than that :P

What was annoying in the previous GTs was that a lot of cars were only present in recent versions, BMW 3 series, for instance. They seem to include pretty much all the versions in there.

I can't wait to 'race' a Crown Vic, seriously.

Or maybe in a rusty-when-brand-new piece of x known as the Corsica? Or in an underpowered, heavy as a boat VW Eurovan? God, this will be fast.

Quote from Vinnylegends :What I am triying to point out is that people make alot of Renders. Wich is good, awesome etc. but if these people would use it to benefit from it like Gaming or Movie Special effects it would be much better.

The limitations come from hardware, not from what is actually possible to design. Those awesome looking CG renders and CG movies take an incredible time to render (4 months, in the case of this particular movie). And it's not exactly long; it's barely over a minute long. Keep in mind it's stated that it was rendered on an 8 core mac, which is more than what people have to usually game on...

To actually have a video game featuring such lighting quality, high poly models (that must be over 50,000), high quality textures, etc. would require power that probably no single computer, even super computer has. Think about it, we have to get from one frame per hour to 25+ frames per second. We'll probably get there, but it'll take time and huge advances in hardware.

Quote from MAGGOT :Well, Villeneuve isn't American, so if they're going for an all-American team he won't be in the cards.

Depends how you define American. Technically he is Canadian, but also American, since he comes from North America. I call it a loophole in USGP's recruiting techniques!

It's called generating your own problems. Yes, the gas guzzlers were selling well, but even in those years, it was known that the price of gas was bound to go up dramatically. They were just not proactive enough. If they had been, they would have been ready with small, efficient cars ready to be put on the market the moment the gas prices had gone up.

However, it's wrong to say that the gas guzzlers were the only problem. GM cars have basically been abysmal since 1980. Apart from a few exception, everything they made from 1980 to present time have turned out to be awful products. The only reason they kept the corp. aloft during that time is that they relied a lot on patriotism of the American people that want to buy American cars.

If I was going to buy an American car, I'd turn to Ford, which, while still having made poor decisions in the past decade, was the first of the big three to see the light, and start actually changing things. These days, there's nothing shameful about buying a Ford over a Toyota, and if I was facing the dilemma of buying a Fusion (2010) or a Camry, I don't know what I would do. Besides, they have the Fiesta coming over soon, which apart from apparently being a good car, is really good looking, both things American cars have been lacking for a while.

Quote from LFSn00b :

To me, there's basically no difference in intensity between those three acronyms. What matters the most is the capital letters.

lol + lmao + rofl < LOL + LMAO + ROFL

I must agree that I don't actually... you know, roll on the floor, or laugh actually out loud, but lol is kind of a generic 'that's funny' acronym. When you add caps, it just means that it was 'that's really funny'.

I usually add caps by reflex.

Well, to make a post actually on topic, I think the Turkish GP will be quite interesting. Some of the teams are getting upgrades, so hopefully there'll be some action!

Quote from RMachucaA :No she's not.

#1, she's in one of the best teams in the IRL, yet has failed to deliver countless times. She's only still driving because the media.

#2. I find her quite ugly tbh, she looks like a pre-op tranny jeff gordon.

#3. She will never stop bitching and complaining about EVERYTHING.

#4. I dont know why she wasnt suspended when she ran over a guy during practice in the pits while she was speeding last year.

#5. The one win she does have, was orchestrated.

So in conclusion, yes she may be a relatively fast driver, but not even close to what the media paint her to be, she'll NEVER win a championship, we all know that, with that in mind, why is she still racing? Ratings.

I've noticed on ABC that at least 50% of the ads presented during the Indy were involving her in some kind of way.

Well, I guess that ending up 3rd at the Indy 500 still is an achievement, and I couldn't say about her win being orchestrated, so I can't really say... It would maybe be a bad idea, but having her in a couple of F1 races could be good to a lot of things. The ratings would go up certainly, and I'd be interested to see how fast she'd be.

A good WTF moment presented to us by Helio Castroneves & teammates. Him jumping on the fence wasn't too bad, but the rest of the team? WTF? I was somewhat expecting some official to come to them at some point and shout: "Get down there, you pricks! You'll break the fence!"

Nobody underrates Patrick, they just don't agree with her being both a model and a racing driver at the same time, especially since she's rather good at both. If she was fugly, nobody would make such a fuss. Or they'd make a fuss just like they do for Susan Boyle.

The commentators are funny: "They've got to work together".

... Then cut a knife through the other guy's tyre.

Castroneves pretty much got it in the bag, imo.

Well, I thought it was a bug in LFS, but apparently racing on the wall is actually possible o.O

Matos seems alright, though quite shaky, but they've taken Meira out on a stretcher. It's incredibly ironic that his car actually caught fire in the pits, but that he was able to keep going, only to get in such a nasty accident a few laps later.

I must admit, this was pretty damn boring. From maybe 10 laps in, it was total boredom until the end. The problem is the lack of passing opportunities. That makes the whole race relies completely on pit stops and crashes to be somewhat interesting. The sad thing is that pit stops the incidence of pit stops will be diminished next year, so it'll be even more boring.

Hot air balloon are such an incredibly stupid concept, it's unbelievable. The flying part is all right, but the fact that you have no idea where you'll land, or even if you'll land without killing yourself is just stunning.

I mean, what was the pilot of that thing advertising? "Hot air ballon trip! Cheap! Enjoy the awesome Chinese view! Hit trees!"

Thumbs up to the Scotts for being just amused by the whole thing; I'd have totally jumped.

Quote from Becky Rose :God designed evolution.

Actually, God's existence, as exnihilator of the universe can be philosophically proven (it's complicated, but the theory exists). Whether or not that implies a supreme being is arguable, as obviously creating from nothing at all is a pretty awesome achievement, but obviously it cannot really be tangibly proven.

Here's a ad stunt Rona (hardware retailer) created in Montreal by using paint dripping from a Apple iPod Nano chromatic banner. It promotes their service to recycle leftover paint.

In the picture shown, it is a bit out of position, as it was designed to be viewed by people passing on a nearby bridge (Jacques Cartier bridge).

It translates: "We recycle leftover paint".

Just play 1.6 like I do. The crappy and temporary computer I currently have can actually run it without any kind of lag, despite lacking a gra- hang on. No, it has one, but it sucks, that's the thing.

It's probably next to free by now, there are lots of servers, and it's quite entertaining
