Quote from the_angry_angel :Accept that this is out of our control and then learn to live with it for now.

Hi Karl

I have had to ban 7 in the last week alone due to this hack, thats not a problem as our ban files are sync'ed but we have to also remove the PB's from our LFSBuddy data on all 6 servers which is a problem even though we can do this in the game.

We now have a simple rule, if someone cheats its a lifetime ban,

If i can help at all with the new Barricade please PM me

Quote from DeadWolfBones :Hi Mike,

Had some issues today and yesterday working with the 4hr replay from the IGTC race.

If I tried to cut a small replay of the last few laps of the race, it appeared to work correctly but when I'd go in-game to view it, it would only show one car on-track (where there should have been 21 or so).

The full replay is here: http://www.spdoracing.com/events/replays/2454.mpr

Cut replay is attached.

Same problem here, tried lap 49 sector 1 to lap 51 sector 1 and sevel cars are missing

When mprEdit reads the replay its says " xxxx Disconnected" for severl players.

I have tried it with different start and end times but its always the same

Quote from fat-oil :As u said, its getting worse.
And this is the one reason I changed my mind about hackers.
As a server admin, the workload just exploded as the hack was made available.
To a point I couldnt manage all of them.
So i stopped blocking the idea and thought about it.

One dont stand facing a wave to stop it.
The best way is to go with the flow, or step out of the path.
Closing server or allowing the 'hack', as a new challenging feature to every drifter around.

My point was you are a demo racer with a Oval that you cant see in Demo, if you get my point

OK Guys, this is now getting stupid and will without doubt ruin LFS if its not stopped.

At CD we run 6 servers and over the past few days have found several "Impossible" lap times in our database.

It seems that this hack is now availble from several people and is being sent out on request.

I would just like to say that anyone who uses a hack or cheat on any CD server will be banned for life. I have done 4 in the last 2 days.

I once again ask that the Developers look into this and fix it as soon as possible or at least as part of Y18. Stopping such a hack is much more important than most of the items in current patch and they should please get the fix out as soon as possible before the good name of LFS is damaged.

As to those who use any sort of cheat, its not at all clever as you are only cheating yourselves. Please whatever you do just think about how it will effect all of rest of the users on LFS

Yes I allow this mod on my server, and this is no cheat, just fun.
Its a real challenge to master a full drifting lap with this insane power at wheels, much harder than regular car. This pushes the demo a step further.

It gets worse, Demo User has a server running the Oval, just what are the devs doing about this.

He was using some kind of handbrake cheat which then kicked him a few km/h more.
Unfortunately, i didnt have the replay activated, but still managed to get a print screen on the guy.

Im using S2Y patch 16 and was playing on ConeDodgers [1] server. Did a quick search on the guy, but i see no v[r]oom member...

Hope the devs get this issue sorted out.

And v[r]oom now has a lifetime ban on all our servers as will anyone that use a cheat.

However one thing is very clear there are getting more and more about and the Devs should close the hack down as soon as possible without fail

Sorry to see you go, but i like most, understand why

I also LFS is getting stale, its still the best online race game out there but the content is so lacking, and the devs keep us in the dark.

At conedodgers we have tried new things, automatic leagues, different tracks, multi-car races, hot lap challenge Etc to push up the interest levels but without new content its a huge task and the devs seem to have other things on thier minds.

I remember a while ago a pole of what we all wanted and a GT prototype came out on top, miles ahead of the other stuff yet what did get, the FBM. Yes the FBM is good but 1 new car a year is pathetic.

In Patch Y we did get some new stuff that we never use, some updates for track looks and S06 but thats tiny,

and before anyone says "There are only 3 devs" to me, it sometimes feels that there is only one, who works part time.

Most of the new test patch stuff is of little interest to current users and from what i can see there is no real content.

We have all waited and waited for new content but its so slow coming that people are leaving LFS.

I am sure we have all noticed drivers have gone missing and looking at the stats proves it

At the time of posting there was 711 Demo Racers online and 348 licensed which i think shows some of the problems.

The numbers of licensed drivers jumps everytime there is new content so why not more?, perhaps there will be a whole host of new stuff soon but i doubt it.

LFS is a great game, with a great community but without doubt if there is not some real major updates soon its going to lose many many more players.

Quote from CrazyBrit :Hello,
I just tried the server out...on my own!!! And i have a suggestion.

Once you have completed the two laps and the car indicator turns green, if you reach the next split time in that car, could a warning be put up to remind you to change?? (i was in the 'zone' with a car and accidently did three laps, and got disqualified!) But if you do get to the next lap, then you do get disq'd for being stupid enough to ignore all the warnings??

But overall, this could be great fun...do you start slow and end fast, or start fast and end slow?? The choice...is yours!!

Remembering what you have done is all part of the fun.

For some months we have been working along with EK (EKinoxNH) on our new system which is based on LFSBuddy. Part of the massive amount of work EK has done for ConeDodgers is the all new multi-car race (MC Race).
Based on an idea from our very own Duck ([CD] Snapp63) we tried to do it manually but it was just not possible. EK watched while we raced and took on the challenge to code it for us and a great job he has done.
ConeDodgers would like to once again thank EK for all he has done for us.
The MC Race is just great fun but can be rather manic if you dont understand how it works and the rules.
CD3 will be running multi-car races so please once you have read this information give it a try.
Please dont take it to serious as its just for fun

When joining the CD3 server if there is a race on please watch so you understand how it works.

Race Start:
This may seem rather strange but there are 2 starts to the race, the first one does nothing more than give you time to select your first car, a set, and fuel anf start a 60 second count down to the real start.

You will see a list of LFS car codes in red across the top of the screen while the countdown is running. This is the list of the cars you must drive in the MC Race.
You will also see the total laps (in this cars 4) and the minimum number of laps per car (In this case 2)
In this example the UFR was chose as the first car.
Its up you to decide which car you use first and what order you want to drive each car

Once you have done the minimum laps you will see the LFS car code (UFR) change to green.
As soon as you see the colour change, pit straight away and select the next car

Once you have done the minimum laps you will see the LFS car code (XFR) change to green.
As soon as you see the colour change, pit straight away and select the next car

Once you have done the minimum laps you will see the LFS car code (XRR) change to green.
As soon as you see the colour change, pit straight away and select the next car

Once you have done the minimum laps you will see the LFS car code (FXR) change to green.
As soon as you see the colour change, pit straight away and select the next car

Once you have done the minimum laps in the last car (FZR) all the car cdes will change to yellow.
You now race to total laps (4) to the finish
Once finished the race is over.
Use !mchelp in game for help on the game
You will find is all a bit manic so be ready to say sorry (a lot) and have some headache tablets at the ready as you may well need them.
We hope you enjoy it
Best of luck

They say

Blue Flag:
One or more competitors are about to lap you. You must hold your course and allow them to pass UNIMPEDED. You must make sure you change speed and leave room to be passed.
DO NOT RACE A CAR THAT IS A LAP AHEAD.

There has been another post today which may explain more

Quote from pine-fin :I have a question:

I raced on Conedodgers today and CD admin/member used blueflag binds on hotlapping demanding drivers to get off the racing line, which made me go I read CD server rules and they state:

"..That means, that they should NOT have to slow down because you are in front of them. So... hit your number 4 key and that will show you the racing line. When you are under Blue Flag, get OFF that line, and slow down.."

But on CD forums the rules state:
"One or more competitors are about to lap you. You must hold your course and allow them to pass UNIMPEDED. You must make sure you change speed and leave room to be passed."

So which is it? Im kinda suprised of your 'get off the racing line' rule

The first quote is from our FAQ's and is in the answer to the question:

I am new to LFS and want to know more about what I should or shouldn't do while on track.

These are not servers rules, but it gives pointers to what may help someone who is new

The second quote is our server rules with the word UNIMPEDED being the important one.

One of the main problems with the Blue Flag and why you get Blue Flag bind messages is that of mid-race joiners. CD1 gets its fair share of new drivers who come on the server, join on lap 5 or higher, go off at T1 only to join again, and again, they then ask for a set a few times, maybe then vote to end the race, restart or qualify, change cars a couple of times, take out a leading car, then disconnect. (Well maybe not all at once )

These drivers will and do often get in the way and have no real idea where the racing line is so the blue flag rule where you stay on the racing line just does not work on a free for all server like CD1

Also this problem of "Hot lapping" in a race is rather silly as we have many drivers that can do 1:41 laps all day long, and these are mixed in with drivers who suffer to do a lap in 2:30 so using a bind to warn them is better than the new driver getting a ban for taking out the leader.

I also think that several of the CD Drivers do lap times that you may consider as a Hot Lap time but its important to note that all the current fastest times on CD1 were done during a race so what you are saying is just not true, after all a 10 lap race on AS3 in a GTR is basically 10 hot laps done one after another if you want to win.

I hope that explains

SamH:

Round 1 results have been printed so people cannot do anything about them, and i dont think they are trying but there was clearly problems in this race due to cars being lapped.

Now if the rules are not clarified in a VERY clear and concise manner the same will happen again.

From the replay it took one driver 15 laps to make a 2 second gap on the car behind him which was then lost in 2 corners because of a BACK MARKER who would not let the much faster driver pass UNIMPEDED.

With racing this close and such a difference in pace between the fast guys and the slow ones ther will be a lot of lapping going on, its a bit like racing Kimi is a F1 GP car when others are in a Formula Ford.

If you simply take car #21 in this 198 lap race

6 cars 8 laps ahead = 48 (blue flags)
1 car 7 laps ahead = 7 (blue flags)
2 cars 6 laps ahead = 12 (blue flags)
3 cars 5 laps ahad = 15 (blue flags)
5 cars 4 laps ahead = 20 (blue flags)
1 car 3 laps ahead = 3 (blue flags)
2 cars 2 laps ahead = 4 (blue flags)

Thats 109 blue flags using a rule that is not clear and concise so a potential disaster if its not cleared up.

I am not saying that Car #21 caused any problems at all but showing the potential problems

And lets face facts it will help the slower guys just as much as the fast ones.

If cars in 1st and 2nd place are fighting for the win and after 198 laps the first car is just 0.12 seconds per lap faster then they both may take chances to get the win if they have chance.

If a team joins this series to win, then second is a poor result, if a team joins to take part then the win is not important.

People have said that its the hot lap mentality, well all i can say is to win you may well need to hot lap for all 4 hours.

What you seem to be saying is that its all part of "Racing" which puts over that you should treat every car you catch as being a car fighting for the win and you must try to pass, almost at all costs, which is rather stupid (IMO) when that car could simply move over and let him by.

Everyone is well aware that they can keep a faster car behind them if they so want, its the good drivers that let them go if they are not on the same race pace

If the blue flag rules stay as they are then there will be just the same problems next race and if it is i am not sure some of the faster guys will bother turning up.

If the IGTC is going to grow and attract top teams this needs sorting before round 2.

Quote from srdsprinter :As for the potential rules revisions:

Lapped Car must drive normal racing line/pace. No defensive manouvers. Must yield position to lapping car upon first overtaking manouver.

Lapping Car must present overtaking manouver to signal Lapped Car to yield.

Something along those line would make it appropriate for lapped cars to continue their own race, but yield when the lapping car is in position to pass.

Strong pentalties for contact or defensive manouvers against a lapping car.

That's my take on it, thoughts?

On CD servers we use:

Blue Flag:
One or more competitors are about to lap you. You must hold your course and allow them to pass UNIMPEDED. You must make sure you change speed and leave room to be passed.

UNIMPEDED is the important word

Now you have said:

"normal pace. Must yield", but these cannot both be done at the same time (IMO)

Normal pace means race as normal

And to yield would mean to "change speed and leave room to be passed" as in our rules.

Just to be clear, in round 1 cars were held up by slower cars and its not that easy to pass with pretty matched cars.

Your new rule either has to be very open as it is now and everyone will argue after each race or its made very clear and concise so there can be no argument whatsoever.

If you can come up with a good blue flag rule maybe it will become the standard for other servers and series.

Quote from SamH :I don't understand why you think there is a problem with this? It's a thing called racing! You come up to lap cars and you lose time in the process. If you lose more time than the person behind you, it's that magic word again.. "racing".

It's like people want online racing to be some clinical, systematic process of individual time trials. They resent things that interfere with that process.. like "wind" and "other racers". It's a mentality that I find rather irritating, and I'm having difficulty resisting the temptation to mock in a dreadfully patronizing way. This is LFS - MULTIplayer. For crying out loud, get this thing sorted out in your head, please!

I am not sure if you mind me posting here guys but as leader of the ConeDodgers i feel it would be useful to put a point across.

SamH i fully understand what you say but the difference in skill levels in this series is huge and its clear that racers have different views on what a "Blue Flag" means and its not a sprint where it may happen but 4 hours where it will many many times.

As LFS puts up a huge "Blue Flag" message that only appears when the person is being lapped so this should be the trigger to the rules.

As it is the rules in the IGTC are not what is normal for the blue flag.

Some think that the blue flag means "stop within 50 mtrs and let me pass" others think it means "sod off, i am in front so pass me if you can"

Maybe the IGTC should open up a discussion in this forum to get some agreement on what the blue flag means and what exact action drivers should take.

It should also cover what happens when a disconnect happens as you could clearly have a driver thats in the lead of the race but is getting a blue flag from every car.

Maybe i can open the discussion with this:

When a driver gets a blue flag, they are to comply as soon as they safely can. This means a person who gets a blue flag is not expected to slow down and let the other pass in a corner, but when the first straight is available.

There should also be a map of each track showing the area of the track that are counted as straights.
