Quote from Turbo Dad :on the rules page is is not clear where to send the objections

Maybe i am being stupid but i keep saying look at the website and read the website to everyone.

The website says

"As there is over 100 racers registered for the league all communication will be by email only."

Its almost impossible to monitor the forum, LFSWorld. PM's, MSN and LFS chat.

I am not sure which part of "for the league all communication will be by email" is unclear and if its the email address, I would ask yourself if you are aware of it, because as a member its the only way you can get the password that lets you onto the server.

Hi

To put forward an objection you must send full details. See Penalties in the rules section on the website

So far we have no D4 objections

By the way the results have just gone live on the site

Quote from tomylee :
I can't make it for race 1 this is sure but I will try to make it to race 2. I will normaly be home at 21:15 CET. Will put down the foot

You seem to have a short memory. Race 1 was the day before your post and you made it to race 2 but your connection failed.

Finally do not do anything stupid trying to get to race, its a simulation, its not real. Take your time as repairs cost a lot more in the real world than they do in LFS and in most real accidents you will get injuries that will hurt, again not a bit like LFS.

LFS is not the end of the world but racing round Paris may well be

Please be carful

Quote from gwendoline :@Birder : lapper is necessary for prequalify sessions....on our french leagues, we cut lapper to opening spectator for our races days.

I use raceguard during races and it will not work with spectator. When the devs finally get round to multiple insims our problem will go away

Sorry i could not talk on MSN last night but i was qualifying

Quote from tomylee :I'm off the league
1. It's too early for me. I did not know that UTC does not switch to winter time, so it's not possible for me to be on time for the D3

I was looking forward to race it but what can you do

PS: at the second race tonight it was my internet box. I have been loosing every 5min my IP address what the hell ever
it worked early but all of the sudden this and now it works again..........

will soon change provider cause I move (away from crappy france and freebox ) hopefully it will be better back in Germany

Edit: Please ut me on the waitinglist, I hope that I can race in February or March

Firstly UTC time is used as it the only world clock that does not change, its the same everywhere in the world in summer and winter. I say it time and time again just go by the clock on the website as it always shows the correct UTC time

As the league is now running i cannot remove you so all i ask is try to make it. Please dont give up as you get points for turning up and for telling me in advance you cannot make it.

As i said earlier you connection is one that causes problems. I had someone else with a similar problem and they reported it to their ISP who sorted it. Try it, they may cure the problem and if its a computer problem. insure it and arrange a freak flood.

Quote from Quint999 :interesting read Birder

If its possibly related to the LFS server process / lapper process running for x amount of time without a restart, is it worth considering a restart of these say every 24 hours.

Its something i've always done on a few HLDS/ SRCDS servers ive ran over time . We've always done this because they leak memory and get rather laggy after a day or two of play and less than that a lot of the time.

When we've run other servers ( including LFS , COD2, BF2 ) weve always applied this rule to them as a better safe than sorry approach, although we've never had a busy LFS server.

Realise that Valve game servers and LFS have absolutely nothing in common whatsoever & im not suggesting LFS dedi is full of leaks etc, but if its running for days at a time maybe it will help.

We do our restarts at the quietest time in the day for us which is 7am.

Not sure how you run LFS , but one of our past dedi boxes was on Windows 2003 & we ran the server processes in the background as services via Firedaemon ( nice app ) .

This allowed us to do service stop and service start via dos .bat script which we ran via the windows scheduler at 7am each day.

Good luck and see you tonight in D3

I restart the servers every chance i get, normally every 2 days or so and a restart does not seem to make any difference. The big problems is that when i first get up someone is on the server. If its only 1 or 2 they understand but at 7:00am there were 14.

By the way the results are on the website

Quote from Wulle :Wow! That first couple of D1 races were really amazing. Never seen a timetable with such good laptimes up to the bottom of the grid before.

From my point of view this was pure fun. Although stumbling in both races due to some accidents in front of me - but I guess I wasn't the only one - I really enjoyed both of them, .

Big cheers to Birder: Let me hug you for organizing this league,

Can't wait for the next races,
Wulle

"moooooooooo"

Well done Moooo, the results (Barring any objections coming in) are on the website. It was great fun watching such fast racers.

You are second in D1 so it does not look like we will meet in a race for a long time as i am 2nd in D3.

I think the format seems to work and everyone enjoyed themselves and as its all over in less than an hour it was real good fun.

I think it says it all when the real fast racers say "I need a rest" after just 10 laps and "My head hurts" after race 2.

And if anyone didnt enjoy it they can allways have their money back! Oh but its free................

Quote from tomylee :Yesterday night and after your server changes we got again a massdisconnect on CD1
Can you maybe try to switch off the lapper, maybe this think is making trouble cause during the disconnect I got strange messages. Just some days for a test.

Here's the deal.

We have tried moving the servers to a new box, with and without lapper (No difference)
We have tried U U28 U30 with and without lapper (No difference)
We have moved the servers to another building and IP address and up until you put this message on we thought it was better.

As you are aware i have tried everything including contacting the Devs.

I am 100% convinced that it is not the server, not the building or the IP address as we have tried 3 different with each. We have also tried with and without Lapper.

So it is either the LFS Code, which the Devs say no, LFSW master server, which the Devs say no, or Users connections.

I have watched LFS for hours and i am convinced that there are some very poor connections out there.
Latency/Lag bars

They display the amount of latency between you, other players and the server.
Technical: The blue and green bars (which move quickly) represent the number of "game packets" that have been already sent by each player but have not been "used". The "game" only eats game packets when it has them for all players, this is how the game model stays in sync. Going from left to right it starts with the host, then guest1, guest2 etc (as seen in the N list of connections). The green one is your own. When one player lags, you will see his reserve packets are at zero, and everyone else's go up and up at that point, while the game is not able to process game packets. The grey bars are the average of the other players bars, as seen by the other players, and transmitted to your pc for info. Note : car positions come in "pos packets" not game packets - pos packets are not "in-sync" and are processed immediately. How to read the coloured bars:
  1. all jumping up and down nicely, all have good connections.
  2. one player keeps getting stuck at the bottom (others rise) then recovering - intermittent lag from that player to host.
  3. all keep getting stuck at the bottom and only your green one going up - intermittent lag between you and the host (you aren't getting the other players' game packets).
  4. extreme of (2) that player will time out.
  5. extreme of (3) you will time out.
  6. all bars going half way up the screen way above the red zone – bug!
Retrieved from "http://www.lfsmanual.net/wiki/Display"

You will often see the bars rise but as there is 23 connections live on CD1 and 2 most of the time its difficult to notice the one the is low. If you take a bit of time you will se one bar stop moving (Lag) and the rest go mad upwards. To me LFS should time out laggy one to release the others but it seems to do this a bit to late so we get a mass-disconnect. All because one person is lagging.

There are several drivers who, everytime they connect the server starts to play up These Drivers get MP Replay stack errors and the latency bars go mad when they are connected.

You are one of the people who seem to cause this problem. I am not saying that this is a fault at all, its simply a fact and everyone of them that i speak to says its not them (including you). It impossible to convince someone with a 16mb ADSL that they are lagging.

But the fact is we only get mass-disconnets when one of those certain people are on the server.

You can always tell they are there as they connect again and again and again and when they finally get on the bars go mad.

At ConeDodgers we attract GTR drivers from all over the world and many of the problems seem to come from eastern europe. Players from New Zealand, Austrailia and the USA do not seem to cause the problems.

Also the ConeDodgers servers seem to get visitors who connect, do a few laps and disconnect only to come back a few minutes later. We also get drivers who come onto the server, see a race is at lap 2 so they disconnect and then come back a few minutes later to join the next race.

We even have some drivers who stay connected for hours so they can race when they want to.

Without doubt the most problems we get are when a new connection is made or being made. I think it must be all the talking to the master server and the downloading of skins being done.

One other point of note is that our servers are without doubt the fullest and have the highest turnover of drivers on LFS. 23/23 is normal and as soon as one person goes another joins. Even i often have to wait and i pay for the servers.

To be fair i have done everything i can, as has Franky500 from 500Servers. I asked the question in the forum but no one answered, I asked the Devs and they say it cant be LFS.

If anyone can help i would be very interested in anything constructive but please dont say it doent happen on other servers as most of these servers without problems have never been at 23/23 for several days without a break and lets face facts they never will be.

We did find one thing. Auto-updates from Microsoft with an auto-restart certainly gives you a mass disconnect.

See you on track, if you can get on!

Quote from aorman :Does LFSLapper offer exporting of !top list to separate .txt file? What I mean is that I'd like to export a list of current TOP 10 PBs on my LFS server and save it as .TXT file - every time a new TOP 10 PB is being set. What for? I would like to include the contents of the exported .txt file on my website.

No, Lapper records in to a simple text file with records such as these

Nickname
Car
Time
Track
Split1
Split2
Split3

Lapper sorts these into order on the fly for !top but the file is not in order

Hi BigDave

As this took place on [CD] ConeDodgers 1 server i need to get to the bottom of this. I was on the server at the time and to tell people what it was like at the time, over a 3 race session i kicked 5 and banned 2. The problem is that ConeDodgers is some of the best racing there is so everyday we have new drivers coming on the server to see what its all about.

Aura (RudolfR) has applied to become a reserve in the LFS: GTR League and i told him he must be able to do a 1:45.99 in an FXR before i could consider him.

So Aura and his 2 mates have been on all day, most of the time doing nothing wrong. But what happens is that as regulars join Aura and his mates are in front of you on the grid which causes all sorts of problems. I restarted this race 3 times and kicked 2 before starting it again.

If you could see all the chat rather than that in the replay you would see that 10 people tried to ban another driver and then several turned onto you.

In the replay chat you will se that i said "I will unban you if they ban you".

This is one of the problems with voting but its they only way.

I have asked Aura to explain, if i get nothing within 24 hours i shall ban him and his mates from all ConeDodgers servers.

One question, Why is it always you?

I have also offered you an email address and pop box without charge in a PM

Regards

Colin

Quote from Liq2k :Im banned auf ConeDodgers Server 1 ... but im fair driving... entbann please..

If you are banned by other drivers voting this ban comes off after 12 hours.

I your case you were given a ban until 13/11/06 so you must have done something serious such as "taking the piss out of an Admin, ConeDodgers, the server or another driver", "not obeying the Blue flag several times", "driving wrong way", "swearing" Etc.

It could not have been wrecking as this is an automatic life ban.

There are a number of Admin Marshalls who only ban after a giving warnings.

At ConeDodgers I trust my Admin Marshalls and will NEVER unban someone unless they send me a replay that proves they did nothing, and to date this has never happened.

Both ConeDodgers Servers are always busy and if someone is kicked or banned thier slot is filled instantly. ConeDodgers offer some of the best racing on LFS and Its also amazing how if someone is banned that the T1 and in race incidents drop straight away.

ConeDodgers Servers are not the place to learn the track or to learn how to drive and anyone doing this will certainly get in the way. From your race stats you often seem to get a disqualification at race end and this normally refers to someone who keeps going off and using Shift+s to start again, something which is not liked by most racers and if this is true you would certainly get in the way.

Sorry to say it but you were banned for a reason which i will not discuss but I hope when the ban comes off you learn from it as the next ban would be for life but i would suggest that if you start a race, finish it and if you use Shift+s just spectate till the race is over.
