OK thanks for the reminder Hyperactive. I'm now studying your above posts on how to drive the Late Model .

I wasn't going to do any Oval at all just yet, but not being able to try the truck would be a tradgedy.

Reference my above whinge post I was having a bad day and a few days off from iRacing has sorted me out a tad, maybe a bit of racing round in circles is whats needed.

Peter, are you not taking this HM thing a bit far having everyone standing to sing the National Anthem before a race?

I'm on a LFS forum roll today cos I've got nowt better to do and my hands are too blistered and sore to race anymore (not joking).

Anyway OT as good as the actual driving is in iRacing I'm finding something lacking and am not really sure what it is, maybe it's just me but I think we need some sort of pick up or private servers so mates can get together for a blast round the track without having to worry about SR or IR. What I mean is I have great fun in random LFS servers and can't seem to find the same fun factor in iRacing, anyone else finding this? I can't get into the lone practicing for hours with no other cars on the track......meh I'll get over it....I'll have to I've got a years subscription.

That pre-built machine that Jakg posted looks a good enough deal unless you want to go to the bother of spending hours, in my case days emm make that weeks trolling through websites, reviews etc figuring out all the components that you want.

I recently built my very first ever pc from scratch and it is not that scary really. I ended up buying stuff from all over including second hand GFX card (8800GTS) and CPU (E6750) from ebay. At the end of the day I am proud of myself that I've done it although my shiny 'special edition' Antec P182 case is just bloody awful to look at, no idea what I was thinking there a head up my own bottom kinda moment.

Probably saved myself a couple of hundred quid doing the home build and actually learned lots in the process.

Unless your stinkin rich I really don't see the point of the new ultra high end components, my average system runs GTRevo, iRacing etc on full graphics no probs.
I'm not sure about other mobos but the Abit IP35pro XE board that I got is quality manufactured, easy to install and set up and also easy to overclock from windows using Abits software.

Anyway good luck on whatever you decide to do

Quote from LRB_Aly :I actually run short on practice right now. Got a lot of work on the SRDB now but I'm confident that I might start practice later this week.

Aly you don't have time to practice, you've got a database to run! not that you'll need much practice from my recollection.
Good to see all you guys getting back together for this

What I do is add some air intake restriction to the car to even things up, but even then it is not so good unfortunately mate Not a lot else you can do except try GTR evo tha AI in that are great to race against, the best I've seen so far in any sim.

Quote from J.B. :That's only part of the truth though. Fully locked means 100% lock. Preload makes sure that lock never gets to 0% but it doesn't do this by always making it 100%.

A good discussion is here: http://www.lfsforum.net/showth ... 831&highlight=preload

Aha! nice one cheers. I can delete that thread I had as this is much better.

Quote from Richard_Crozier :Just to clarify, I've participated in most of the V1 weekends, but due to work commitments over summer, which meant that I was never available for all the qual sessions, I never made it into the races themselves. So I'd dispute the fact that it was "unfair". Alas I haven't really had a chance to participate in V1 at all since the test, due to a combination of work, uni and a holiday to Sweden. But thankfully I've got weekends off work now, so hopefully will be able to race in the final 2 rounds Also I'll try and get a report on the test posted up on V1Racer ASAP

Richard I'm looking for a three wheeled Legends car, do you know where I could find one?
Yes I know not funny mate Have you got it fixed and ready for next weekend?

LOL Mackie

What about that miss from 2 micron by Kris Boyd btw, oh wait I'm wrong our ONLY natural finisher was actually on the bench silly me . Burley made a dogs ear of things IMO, especially in the first half.
Poor chap Iwelumo, that outstanding world renowned ex St. Mirren player, will remember that miss for a long time. Carew terrorised us and at the end of the day we were fortunate to get a draw.
I'm not one for being all mad patriotic all hating English type of Scotsman (infact people like that do my head in), but surely the English fans booing Ashley Cole is madness and for crying out loud you won 5v1 and have full points, will you lot ever be satisfied

All I know is that I wish I had some spare cash to stick in it right now, it may get worse but one thing is for sure it WILL recover. The rich buggers that are temporarily loosing fortunes I couldn't care less about, it's the poor people that have saved all there lives for a decent pension that I feel most sorry for. Bankers/Wankers same thing.

The reason I posted the link mate is that the chap describes in simple terms in his original post what pre-load is I keep his thread handy just to remind myself also.

Quote: 'Preload simply makes the diff behave as if it were locked over a certain range of torque difference between the wheels'

Have you bought a Frex wheel mate? You will have no trouble shifting this.......I'm tempted myself to set up a wee home LAN, but likely when my beloved found out then I would probably be having to pay a visit to the outpatients to get it removed from my nether regions.

http://www.lfsmanual.net/ the raceline central guide linked in my sig is not too bad as well. To take it a wee bitty further http://www.sim-chassis.com has a Physics of racing series that is easy to read.
Also try Bob Smith's VHPA tool.

Or if you can't be arsed with that go online and ask a fast dude for his set

Heeh have you lot lost the plot the answer is simple, reduce your rear anti-roll bar a few notches, that should do the trick.
Pure maths does ma heed in. Maths only means something to me when it's used in engineering and science.
sqrt (-1) = j or i if your an electrical engineer where i/j is an imaginary number. I like this it is actually useful . Chuck in some Laplace transforms and fourier analysis and me heed is minced these days.

Quote from Bob Smith :AlienT. - Since I currently have a job developing driving games (specifically the vehicle dynamics) and am working on two interesting titles atm, I'm in no need of another job.

Good on you, It must be nice to do work that you have a genuine interest in.
