Current work. I need a lot of time to take care with some difficult things because I have lost the Photoshop, FZ50 files, PSD files of Fern Bay, DDS programs,etc.

So, I'm working hard to recovr all the necesery to back to the work.

I have lost almost all my work so in this case I only have the textures. I'm sorry. My fault:

I don't know wich is the file that contains the landascape for westhill.

I don't have S3 license to work on the Rockinghan landscape. I was thinking on this idea but does not convince me at all.

I thought lfs converts jpg skins in to dds, but I could not find that function. there was skin in the game but didnt find dds.
It could have converted track texture too ?
Which format and which DDS compression is LFS using by default ?
Or is there a better way than default ?

Well I dont know which one it uses, but thanks alot, now I can avoid imagemagick open dds in gimp, and save as raw.
I would hope the best way is to let LFS make the DDS textures back. (lfs might use outdated algorithm ?)

update: gimp does not have raw files , but it can edit and save dds, and it works in the game even without dds compression but I dont know which is better for fluency. (a compression or non compression)

what does your dds converter use as compression settings? in some cases uncompressed lower resolution dds can have a higher filesize than compressed higher resolution counterparts.


if there's no adjustable compression settings try this out:

using BC1/DXT1 compression settings with gimp seems to work ok for me but i can't say if it'd help performance-wise.

Hello
Being on linux I need every FPS I can find
low resolution textures has great effect but I can not make it myself because imagemagick with its command convert in linux makes unusable textures because the game then tears and flickers everywhere even when it makes the fps higher.

I am not picky although I have youtube channel with many lfs videos and have to think about the people too. I would just use any super low texture that makes the game look in normal world colors, even if an incompatible textures would be used. (currently using grey grass npSmile )

I observed that minimum size for transparent textures is 16 px. (after this it works as non trasparent barrier)

On the other hand maybe I am only missing some imagemagic setting to make the textures move fluent in the game ?
(I downloaded textures that does the same thing as my converted textures, maybe somebody used imagemagic to convert image to dds.)


The textures that makes diference are
trees fence bushes vegetation barrier armco wall rail tire wall (there are some tire textures that works as wall) cement concrete sand rally road (maybe there is more)

I am not sure if my image resizer is allright, maybe I need the _AD.jpg's too.


Maybe I only need a dds converter that works for gaming purposes ?

I haven't seen this crack video on youtube. I'm not really interested in doing so either. But I'm wondering something, does this video generate ads like what other YT videos do? If so you can attack them there. Go after the advertisers and threaten to organize boycotts of their products and services. Before YT "cracked" down on racist/fake news/conspiracy videos, that's what people did to get those videos yanked. With the economy the way it is these days, the threat of a boycott carries some weight. As far as going after the crackers (LOL crackers) directly? Forget about the legal route. That's a waste of time. DDS attacks, and massive spam campaigns claiming the cracked versions are full of ransomware would be more effective. Maybe put up a sting site that offers a cracked version that really IS full of malware. What could they do about it?

Hello , for the first time i tried to skin the fz5/fzr steering wheel (cromowheel_grip.dds)
ive done it a few times with xrt no problem.

but on fz it shows darker and less colored in game than the skin.dds

Is there a fix for this ?
maybe a other texture is affecting it ?

I had it before, its not photoshop, its real, and lincese plates are real. I remember it was a dds file for the license plate and a vob mod for the xrt.

I love to see progress on track designs, south city looks amazing.
However, is it possible that we could see update on car interiors?
I know that i can download some dds files, and make it look better, but it would be nice, if cars originally would have nice and beautiful interiors.

Put this in lfs\data\dds - should fix the problem if you have messed up the original file. You need to restart LFS or change texture resolution smaller and back to force LFS to reload textures.

@nacim, is it possible to boost the reflections without decreasing the brightness of the sky.dds texture? I tried, but didn't succeed.

Given DDS is a graphics format, it's unlikely that they'd become unmodifiable.

dds mods will probably somewhat work, depends also how much original set of dds files will change, and how much the colour profile will be important. And some materials will now require alpha channel data I guess?

"keep possible to alter" ... wait a second, it's your computer, you can alter any part of LFS, just some parts are easy to alter (like dds), and some parts are more difficult (like changing parts of code), but Scawen can't stop you, he can only make it more/less difficult (like for example signing dds files with private key and checking the signature before load to refuse to load modified ones.. then you would have to remove the check from the binary to allow modified dds to load).

Anyway, this situation (big change of LFS internals) was expected and envisioned, and it was the main reason why "no mods" policy is in place. To save people from the feel of having their many-hours hobby projects destroyed by next update of LFS. So it's just happening as envisioned (wouldn't say "planned", but it was more like "inevitable". It wouldn't happen only if the project would be abandoned sooner).

May backfire... may. This whole thing of S1/2/3 and updating one game ad nausea IMO did backfire a bit. Other car-sim games developers are instead releasing "new games" when they finish these bigger patches (netkar / rFactor / ...). That makes also the loss of mods probably a bit easier to accept? "it's new game, of course my mods don't work any more"? But LFS is hiding this behind "patches", so it may feel different (although it's practically the same thing happening, you just get the new "LFS2" for free as you already have license and it will be still named "LFS").

Iv'e only been here since 2016 but i can't turn my back on LFS it is by far the best Racing/car game i have played and i don't say that lightly!

I have played many racing simulators/car games .eg Assetto Corsa, Forza Motorsport, RaceRoom, Enthusia (my first ever Racing simulation game) Grand Turismo, Grid and so on including games like need for speed, The Crew, Test Drive and more.

Of All these games LFS is the most Challenging and brings you closest to your car and how it's behaving. I haven't gotten into GTR because there are no populated GTR servers, guess i joined to late for that.

And the fact that LFS allows you to experience the game free with the option to move up if it's what you are looking for makes it so much better, i say this because Assetto Corsa promised a grate user experience and when i tried it i was disappointed...

I'm passionate about customizing including Bodykit's rims .etc though LFS doesn't offer that you can still make skins to look how ever you want with no restrictions and you can edit sounds and DDS which is enough to keep me satisfied to a extent.

Been working on some shaders for some time... I had to lower the brightness of the sky.dds texture and then boost it up again within World2.psh with the only problem - sky's quality dropped... so this is the result (for version 0.6U): Big grin
























Remember to turn on the Post-processing shader in-game.
Blackwood clear sky only and Rockingham all weathers.

Screenshots are taken with ReShade - with an experimental settings which are too messy to upload or use. Big grin

Now I'm working on a new sky texture (a sunny one Big grin):
