DDS File Backup

So recently i got into modding various cars and I completely forgot to make a back up of the original DDS file so that I could revert back to it after a while. Does anyone know how I can do that? Do I have to re install LFS or is there another way?

Or i guess another option would be for someone to email me the file. Let me know if you can help me out.

Re-save the skin to .dds format without mipmaps probably can solve it too,
but in most case shimmering problems will occur if no mipmaps.

.dds are just textures - the way how everything is colored,not impact on size or shape.

So if they replace the .vob model is a problem, or also if they replace .dds interior files?

I convert all dds files to 128x128 and Fps still drop. my texture memory usage after convert is 23.0mb, so problem is not memory. in other tracks fps down little, but have more stability (dont drop)

Well for me it only happens in 3 places (on the westhill international) and it's probably not cpu power saving mode, i have always everything on 100%. (even with turned off cpu termal throttling in bios).
Basically if people have good or average pc 100fps+ and on that 3 places of the track which i've posted before in my previous post they have drops to around 60-70fps and they don't think its bad because they still have 60-70fps which is still very comfortable to play.

But if someone have older pc (or poor gpu like mine) then it drops from my average 30-40fps which i have (and that's fps its quite okay for most track) to even 15-20fps at those places which is not so good then. For me (and my poor integrated gpu) those places of the track are:
1. entry of the last corner at westhill international (drops from 40-60fps to 20-25)
In the middle of the corner somehow its going back to 40-60fps.
2. exit of the last corner at westhill international (when exiting from last turn and looking at main straight) again drops to 20-25fps.
Well in the main straight from pit entry to the first corner again somehow its back to 30-40fps which is ok for me.
3. First turn at the westhill international here it sometimes drops to even 15fps or less if more cars is in the race (but when driving alone it drops to like 15-20fps)

I think that might be a thing that in those places there is much things or objects to render maybe, and it needs to render them now and sometimes (mainly at first turn) game freezes a little (0.1s-0.5s). As sayed before, without that 3 places where fps hugely drops rest of the track is great and there is no fps drops and the rest of the track at my poor integrated gpu is around 30-40fps and sometimes even goes to around 80fps Wink.

Oh and almost forget, with lower resolution track textures (it quite helps) game not freezes (at least not when driving alone) but that fps drops still not gone away and it didn't fixed my problem with fps drops.

happen the same with me. i put all settings low performance and fps drop in specific places. so i make a test, i convert all dds files to 128x128 for better performance(unlucky). fps drop always for me and all players but people with good computer dont cry about..

My texture memory usage with low performance:

Before convert - 81.6mb
After convert - 23.0mb

problem is not textures, is the new system i guess.

There is no problem if you edit dds files,technically you can even do that with files from licenced content,the only problem is that you can't check how the result looks like,well at least not legally.

Hello, i made all audiences transparent so the track look nice and clean Big grin copy to DDS folder and dont forget to backup the original file, only work for 0.6G.

HOW TO JOIN?
- You must add Jonzu Gullstén to your friends to Facebook in order he can contact you if needed.
- Post following information to the sign up chat: Name, Nation, Class, LFS Car, IRL Car, Team
- If the LFS Car & IRL Car do not match according to Jonzu, you might need to switch either LFS or IRL Car.

WHAT DO THE COLORS MEAN IN THE ENTRY LIST?
Dark Gray: RB4
Purple: FZ5
Green: XRT
Blue: FXO
Dark Green: XRG
Dark Blue: XFG
Red: UF1

WHEN AND WHERE ARE THE RALLIES?
- Calendar is on the Group Picture.
- Rallies Start 18:00/6pm (UTC+0)
- Events are hosted in "Finnish Rally Server"
- Stages from each Rally are published 1 week before Event.
- There are 4-6 Stages in each rally.
- Distance of the Stages varies from 2km to 10km.

DO I NEED ANY DOWNLOADS?
- It's recommend that you get Winter Textures to Blackwood & Kyoto
- The stages have Custom-made AX_ARROWS that will be used in the rally.

WHAT I NEED TO DO BEFORE THE RALLY?
- Put your number in front of your name, which can be found from the entry list.
- 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 Numbers must have 0 in front of them
- Make sure you have skins & setups in order, so you don't need to worry about them during the rally.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE RALLY?
- Each Car starts in numbered order, 30 seconds after each other.
- If you crash, the car blocks the road more than 50%, and you're unable to move your car, Please spectate or you will be punished.
- If your car does not block the road more than 50%, you are allowed to stay where you are.
- If you retire in a event, you are not allowed to continue to next stages.
- If your car manages to go off the track, and be unable to get back, you will have to retire.
- If you crash after finish, you will be counted as Retired and unable to continue. This rule does not affect on stages that make you drop into "space" after the finish.
- If you jumpstart, do NOT restart, you will get a 10 second penalty.
- Spamming while driving/spectated is forbidden. You will get kicked/warning for that.
- If you see drivers coming behind you, please give room for faster drivers to go past you
- If you hit any objects that give you time penalty, just ignore them. They don't count.
- "Wall grinding" is absolutely FORBIDDEN. You are not allowed to use the walls as an advantage to get faster. If I will see you doing this, you will be Disqualified from the rally.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE RALLY?
- After you have finished the last stage, you are allowed to leave the server.
- Results will come within day or two.
- Times are counted as X:XX.X, so hundredths don't count.

HOW MUCH DO DRIVERS GET POINTS IN EACH CLASS?
1st: 10
2nd: 8
3rd: 6
4th: 5
5th: 4
6th: 3
7th: 2
8th: 1

ARE THERE ANY AWARDS?
- Only bragging rights at the moment

No, i already find it but it's belong to different tree. Here is all BL texture list for trees. Still can't find this ones in corner.

Had no choices but using a custom XRdials_ALP.

As you know, it's not that easy to use default masks and get a good result, this means I'll certainly have to use custom dds for the most of the sets.If not, I'll bang my head on walls.

Both are very nice!

Although I see they require XRdials_ALP.dds to be modified too. My first XFG dash used empty dds file to maximize dash area just like those, but pretty soon I realised of all the flaws that come with it. Well I didn't supply dds files with it to be honest, but there will always be someone who will simply forget to do that and dash will not look like it is supposed to.
Also including such a dashes into autoinstaller will require some changes and complexity. I don't think I should just like that overwrite dds textures, users consent is definitely needed in that case IMO.

Just in case anyone is using this (and you should!) and wonders why it doesn't work in the latest versions of LFS, you need to rename it to DUST_ALP.dds.

PSD files are an Adopbe Photoshop format. You can try to open these files in your graphics software and edit them, then export as DDS or JPG to work in LFS. Most PSD files that you download for LFS are likely to be skin files or skin templates, or some other in-game texture.

They are shared among LX, RB4 and FZ5 cars.

No,skins are freely usable by everyone. Make sure that they are XRG skins (filename starts with XRG_) and not for other XR cars (XRT or XRR). Also make sure that skins are copied to lfs\data\skins folder if they are in jpg format or lfs\data\skins_dds if they are in dds format.

That's not true actually - you can use skins in dds format too,you just need to place it in skins_dds folder. Some of LFS original skins are already there. And if you select "car skins: compressed" in graphics menu,all your jpg skins will be converted to dds for ingame use.
