You can change both the helmet and suit textures. Helmet skin can be customized just like a car skin, you can even upload it to LFSWorld so that other racers can see it. Editing the suits' DDS is also possible.

Improved High Res LX Interior

Made a quick LX interior today, after deciding my previous MG one was a bit naff, and the default one didn't really cut it in terms of quality.

This interior gives you a new leather dashboard, side panels, centre console, seats and gear lever gator, new high resolution (and coloured) switches as well as new carpets.

Because of the LX Edition badges on the carpets and dashboard I have done right hand drive and left hand drive versions so the badges appear correctly (not flipped).

The following files are included

LX_Interior2.dds
LX_Seat.dds
gator.dds

Extract files and place in LFS/data/dds - back up your original files first!

You need to save smoke files as .dds with an alpha layer.

Actually that's incorrect. Not only you can see the DDS files. Everyone who got the DDS files can see the DDS files so if the majority of the cruisers have modified DDS files then that problem is solved. And you can always have 2 copys of LFS installed at once. One where you do racing and one where you do cruising and have cruising related mods.

I've been messing around with the dds files, just looking at them, I did a few skins. One thing I noticed is the massive amount of real photos they (and all car textures really) use- low quality ones at that. A few that jumped out at me are the ShiftSequ_x.dds files, wiperblade.dds, the MRT engine, and lots of the lights. Some of them are so bad I don't think you could reskin them since you don't know where the wireframe is. Why does everyone rely on real photos for the car textures? It's possible to make them look good (don't know how much was used on the XR's interior but all of those look good) but most of the time they look pretty bad. Remaking them they can look so much better.

Speaking of the XR interior, I think it looks great, but then go drive a FXO, and it's totally worse. Why do some cars have such nice interiors but others seem so neglected? I'm speaking the stock ones, I already have some alternate interiors for various cars.

Another thing I noticed, is some models have flipped UVW's (LX dash is one I know for sure, left on the dash skin is right on the dash in game). It's not a big deal but it's frustrating skinning something then you find out it's backwards in game. Does anyone know any other models that have flipped portions on the UVW's? Just want to know for future reference.

Just a random question, what's the texture name for the UFR and XRR digi guage and gear indicator housing? Just want to mess around with it a little but I haven't had luck finding it.

Hope this post doesn't come off as sounding like I'm complaining, I'm not trying to sound that way. Just curious about some things .

Thanks. You can rename them to get any combination you prefer,
e.g. HGAmountALP24.dds to BW_bgALP24.dds, voilà

I had some fun changing the scenery for the tracks the last days. Quite pleased with how they turned out so I decided to share them

For now it's Blackwood located somewhere in the Alps,
Kyoto with some nice gentle hills and Westhill in some german rural landscape, vineyards and all.

DDS Image size is 2048x2048, be sure to make backups just in case

I think it's a good idea. Make the strobes orange and suddenly it won't be cruise related unless people who want to use it in cruising purposes get some blue/red DDS files for it. It's not unrealistic for a racing simulator and it shouldn't be too complicated to add either. Also add some admin controll over the function so that not a bunch of people drive around with strobe lights on the roof :P

Easy, the only thing I did was sorted the dds folder by modified date and voilà, the few new files with AX_ prefix appeared at the top. And I only tried to open it to make sure it is the right file.

The chalk textures are now in AX_CHALKALPHA.dds.

I have noticed this too. chalkALPHA.dds modification does not affect chalks in game anymore.

Years ago I have created custom chalkALPHA.dds for our Caribbean Cruise server (now CLC). My goal was to change arrows from handmade chalk drawings to normal painted road signs, to be used for cruise layouts. And also change straight chalk lines to painted lines, without notches at both ends.
Modified DDS file was offered to our regular cruisers for download and overwrite original. Today when I modify it in Photoshop, LFS still shows originals. Tested with older LFS versions and it worked well there.

Is there any way to modify chalks again? Which DDS is it now?
Or is it inside the game now since the new feature of optional chalk colours?

Check your nVidia driver settings. Somewhere you may have "dds quality" (or something similar) set to Performance instead of Quality

Has anyone made the ken block ford fiesta for lfs?? i know there is the tweak pack with a few cars but i would like just his car because all of the tweaks dont want to work on my computer. so all i want is the dds and veh for the ford fiesta????

sounds like your dds folder has some missing files, download a fresh version of lfs from www.lfs.net, install it to another directory and copy the new .dds folder into your existing copy of lfs.

or just use the new install but remember to back up your sets, skins, replays etc

Hello racers,

Since i've make my Renault BF1's skins like 4 last years, i've decided to make a dds with pirelli tyres.
As Torro tyres was yellow, i've replaced torro by pirelli.
I've spend about 1 hours for add pirelli and ramake other tyres brand. And then 2 hours to find how to make them transparent...
The only problem is the Michelin's transparency, the blue don't appear on the tyre since it's a dark color.

Enjoy it !

PS : If everyone know how to correct the Michelin bug with the blue color, feel free to correct it, or told me that

Love the idea. Maybe the same could be done for some .dds files too.

Of course the service would be optional, and wouldn't necessary be free.

i'm just searching for red & white curbs which has been replaced as the arrows in the chalkalpha.dds files in previous versions of lfs. it seems they have been replaced to its standard again since the new patch came out and we need somebody to edit/modify them again. as far as i can see it hasnt been done yet, sadly.
