No. Hell if MS Paint could edit DDS files you could use that.

Yah, paint.net is a good one, or if you wanna cheat then you can make the file and save it as a jpg, (provided its 512x512 or bigger) in your data/skins folder so its named like its a skin file(xf_mycar.jpg for example) and LFS will convert it to a dds itself, then just find it in your data/skins_dds folder and move it into the data/dds folder.

Few checks do to.

Is the file saved as a .jpg (not a .jpeg or .gif or anything else)?
Is the files saved in the correct location? It should be saved in lfs/data/skins folder.
Is the file correctly named? You say so, but are you sure?

ie. If my FZ5 skin file is called the Daytona300, it should be saved as "FZ5_Daytona300.jpg" and saved in lfs/data/skins.

Just run though those and let us know

E: You'll have to click "new" right under the Car Colours/skin file list; that'll show you the files that LFS coverted to .dds.

You don't need to 'code' the DDS files... they are basically image files, but you need specific software to view/edit them.

yes DDS mods are allowed as its not affecting the game play of others where as VOB mods do

Did you even tried to find the correct one? I doubt so.

Anyway, if i got you correctly, you want to change lights. They are in .dds files which are for interior.

Not insim related change the .DDS files.

Have you tried editing your own dds files?

I mean, you could use all dds avaiable for all cars from this forum and combine them to fit your own taste.

That is what i have done and believe me its very easy. Its the same as editing you skins. I didnt know anything about it till 3 days ago and i started editing and was very very easy.

That way you could edit all your dds files. That will include a lot of object in the tracks that can be changed. Adds, signs, Team trucks, ligts, dashboards, etc etc. Do you want your "real life" car CD player on the XRT???. No problem. Take a good picture of it a paste it on the dds file. Do you want the FZ5 leather on the XRG?. No problem. Just look for that texture and paste it. Very simple.

Download a dds editor, i downloaded Paint.net cause somebody here recommended it and start opening your dds files.

that way LFS will look exactly as you wish.

i really like this game but i do not have the money atm to buy it but i do plan on doing soon

but for now i need to upload my skin but since im a demo user i wont be able to

not sure how to make windows show known file extentions, but somewhere in windows, there is an option that is "show known file extentions"

you check that off and you go into your dds folder, save the png file into that folder, and literally just change the png, to a dds

sry... anyhow I just can´t model good looking rear lights now I just put the grill dds there ^^

zay if you save the file as a png, and you change the extention to dds, then it should work.

Not the links to sites like megaupload, because for some reason they dont work, like I said. It HAS to be in that format you see in the thread above. For starters, if its not to much trouble, I would just like the FZ5/FZR Mods.
