Quote from The Very End :What about high-res trees, autocross objects and such?
I allways wanted some really high-res textures on those.

Also, is it possible to re-texture things like briges, the long wall at BL, the rocks / mountains and FE?

Dear TVE,

I noted some points of the first paragraph. Thank you.

Yes it is. If there are a jpeg or dds files, it is possible to edit them. Of course does that not violate the agreement from the developers.

I will make the announcement of the next Revolution Pack soon. To follow in the same line of quality, the documentation is the most important to do a better decision. Probably will be a track.

The development will be published usually in the RP's Blog and on the thread of the "Revolution Pack June 24th" as I did all times. Publishing the development stages on the thread of the last released.

Quote from Bean0 :You can either move your LFS installation out of Program files or uninstall/reinstall.
Moving may break the file associations set up for replays and server joining though.

And ignore our resident comedian

Correction you can just copy and paste. I have done this numerous times when using pcs and such. I have it backed up to my hard drive and public router so that I can just drag and drop the copy no issues. You just have to relog your LFS Username. This should solve the dds issue.

I even tried a converter to change it to .dds and put it in the _dds file, still no results

Oh yeah, just looked in the .dds folder, and the skins aren't showing in there... It said on the README that they'd be automatically changed? I'm confused now...

@Inouva: rear mudguards are mapped from the skin & front ones from "Carbon.dds" (which is also used for a bunch of other cars parts).

Quote from Inouva :Any idea how to make the .dds of the mudguards from lx4/6 transparent?

I know someon did it some years back with the skins of the cars adding semi transparent channels or smth like that

Any tip is welcome, i'm using photoshop and the plug in from Nvidia.

The main layer stays black, but you need to add alpha layers that are white or something, (it's been a while) My sig has the link to instructions (Sunroofs).

Initially I used a windshield dds texture and tried it as a skin dds and then opened that file with photoshop and examined how it all worked (sunscreenALPHA.dds)

It only worked for SKINS though because the file MUST end with the string "ALPHA" eg: FZR_SunroofALPHA.dds

LFS detects files such with this ending string and then unlocks the alpha layers. Some sort of DirectX function I presume.

I've already tried with car interiors and car textures and they don't appear transparent because the filenames are already predetermined. Eg: Interior_1.dds You cannot modify the names to append the "ALPHA" text because then LFS will not locate them correctly.

afaik you need to create a dds with an etxra alpha layer file, google it, last time I used those was in 2004. Worked only for some of the files LFS uses (I still have that FZ5 Targa mod, a dds with transpenrency for the FZ5s roof.

For cars body it was creating a transparent dds skin and putting it in dds folder with the same name as your jpg skin.

You could try to do the same with Interior_1 or 2 images, but don't think it would work though

They are tiny files, just a few pixels square, not a lot to edit.
Certainly not like editing a full skin.

Thanks Nicce, hadn't seen X_windowALPHA.dds, better add that to my edit list as well.
Copper red windows, nice.

Vortech, thanks for the link, downloading that file now.

I think you would need to edit some .dds files.

Files to edit are:-

rearscreenALPHA.dds
s_glassALPHA.dds
s_LX_winALPHA.dds
s_UF_headALPHA.dds
s_UF_winALPHA.dds
s_windowALPHA.dds
s_windxrALPHA.dds

These files are found in data\dds folder, edit with paintdotnet or similar application that handles .dds files.
Changing hue and saturation should do the trick for you.
This info was gleaned by checking inside an old custom window mod.

Quote from theirishnoob :which folder exactly ?

make sure in its in the exact folder it should be, not the main lfs directory.

Yeah the dds folder. It just won't work. I had v3.0 for Z28 And it worked fine on that...

it isnt. Even if you somehow made a insim that overwrites the sidewall dds when you change tires, it wouldn't change, because afaik LFS loads the dds only once on racestart.

approximately so?

fix:
Used files lfs/data/dds:
  • WST_grassbank.dds

I didn't mean the image itself, i meant the textures you used from data/dds.
