Sweet deal; it works perfectly today (aside from me being sick, and as a result, making triple tree contact in the second corner of the Kuaihvaara stage ). Made it all the way through the rally without any crashes (Aside from me hitting those trees). I even got to exit the game properly when I was finished! :O!

And now, since I can't leave ANYTHING alone and must personalize everything... anyone know which textures exactly are used for the player's driver? There's the "Player-male_01", "player-hd_01" which I assume are the cut-scene texture/shader ini files... but they use the "eeos_face01.dds" texture, which isn't richard burns, and I always thought the player looked suspiciously like the man himself...

Anyone know which textures, specifically, are used, and in which case?

rename your dds folder and restart the game, then you'll see what is changed by just changing dds files.

All you need is to do is search for 3 keywords mentioned above. Ran a search for "kerb chalk .dds" and the following thread came up on top. Searched for two weeks, you say?

I think the snow mod replaces a number of the .dds files. It would be easy for you to reinstall LFS to a different folder (keeping the current installation) and then copy the whole dds folder and replace the files in your current dds folder.

If you're using any other mods (other than snow mod), you may want to find out which specific files the snow mod replaces and then copy+paste those files from the new LFS install.

what you are looking for are dds files, which are allowed to mod, I think you'll find some of that kerb texture in this very forum

I cannot for thed life of me get this to work properly. The dds files are unpacked in the dds and I unpacked the manager into the LFS folder; I start LFS, start the manager, start a single player race, select the rims, run thru the pits and it still doesn't work. What am I missing?

oh sorry i thought by the way you worded it you didn't know what a .dds was, most of it is the same as all the tyre surfaces are in that file and he has only changed the bf1 tyres.

oh i know what it is..i have MANY more then my fair share of .dds files

Quote from logitekg25 :you added a .dds file attachment..what exactly is that?

Its the file type that lfs uses for all the car/track textures, all the hi res addons you see posted in here are remade higher res versions of the existing lfs .dds texture files. Just save it in lfs\data\dds and the file attached in the first post will change the tyre surface texture on the bf1.

Just remember to backup your original dds files before doing so, so you can put the original back if you dont like it.

@Tibone, looks preety awesome already. Nice one !

PS: i find the black on the side not so fitting; kinda tooo random, if you know what i mean.

What i find interesting is whjat you do on the headlights. Is it a logo or is it finished like this?

Thanks mate, the mirrors are blue, just like the read wing end plates, but in the render it turned out black, no idea why really, perhaps i need to re-map the model, but if you mean the dark shades of paint in the doors, those are red screened over the blue, looking quite dark, but not completely black.

The lights are normal ingame, unfortunately, i only get them to look like this on the render, the game doesn't read the small part of the skin, it is just a detail i added, nothing major. I think only a dds mod could get the lights like the render.. but at least it looks ok in the render, i guess, better than nothing..

Demo Users aren`t allowed to drive XRT and RB4...by the way...you can`t change the licenseplates...only the texture (dds) for xrt...

Any modifications of original .vob files ARE illegal, because it changes cars shape,so there are problems online, more info: http://www.lfsforum.net/privacy.htm
Any modifications of sound files, dds textures etc. are ok,because they change only the way LFS looks or sounds on your PC,but doesn't affect any car physics,so do whatever you want.
About that sound pack - check Boothy's post,he said what you have to do.

Because the tree dds files have an alpha channel which is the see through part. When you save the dds files you must save them with an alpha channel. If you save them as normal dds files they will have a black edge.

If you dont know what im talking about, have a google around and youll soon find out.

You do not have hmn folder? Strange, because folders do not disappear by themself.

Perhapse you installed the z28 patch into it's own folder or did some dds modding and changed something by mistake. Maybe you moved the folder by mistake, do a search for it, if you find it, move it back to the data folder.

If no luck, I suggest move all your LFS files somewhere as a backup (ie: rename your LFS folder to LFS-backup), then a fresh re-install LFS. Then copy your setups across from the old install.

It's a private skin, don't use or copy anything. Thanks.

i am missing the right xr interior dds for the patch x models, because i am working on my macbook...so there are a few mistakes...

maybe someone can post it in the scenes/materials thread...

or by the way: are there 3d models from patch z available? .3ds, .obj prefered

Thanks in advance

Go into your LFS/data folder, and make a copy of the following folders, depending on what you want to keep...

setups (self explanitory)

spr (if you wanna keep single player replays)

mpr (as above, but multiplayer replays)

skins (again, self explanitory lol)

dds (if you have custom textures or hi res packs etc)

pic (as above, plus any custom ingame menus and some sky textures will be in there)

layout (self explanitory)

engine (engine sounds, as you would expect)

sound (all other ingame sounds, if you have installed non standard ones)

Thats about it really, although i have to say, what you are describing does sound more like a controller/wheel config problem, maybe handbrake axis is inverted the wrong way possibly??

Yeah saving dds in PS is a bit wierd. General rule when youre saving dds files, just dont change anything and click on OK. Its worked for me so far. Thanks for the compliment though, hope it works out for you in the game
