All this mess because someone cried over the least concern...mods and addons while complaining that modified servers couldn't get online like 10 years ago or so...isn't working now? shutup then

I don't see the problem of that I used every recent mod that works on normal servers, I even tapped couple of cars to test and...nothing happened just heard metal clipping each other and didn't caused the glitchy car explosion.

Oh boy CSR, LFSLazy and Revbouncer aren't allowed be used...best add-ons made by modders that poured all their passion to make this game better now it has been flushed away...if you stopped reading here.

If you people don't know the CPW error can be caused by having too much EXTRA dds and sound files, do a clean install and pick the stuff you like more and gg, just don't overdo on your favourite stuff.
(DISCLAIMER: IM NOT 100% SURE IF IT'LL CAUSE ANY ISSUE USING THE ADD-ONS WITH A FRESH CLEAN INSTALL)

I don't support this new anti-cheat, honestly the hacking issue on a server is between the server admin and the hacker, other players must witness the issue so admin can take action, final.

Eh, I held stupid updates until this one...I might back off from LFS for a while.

Is it possible to change the steering wheel models? I would be particularly interested in placing XRR steering wheel to FXR.

If possible - would this modification be compatible with multiplayer? If not possible - when I retexture the old cromo wheel's .dds file will it be multiplayer-compatible or some type mismatches would appear?

UFR, XFR, FXR, XRR and FZR can have small stickers on the very top of the windshield. This does not require editing .DDS files as the windshield stickers are part of the .JPG skin file. However, you need to have at least an S2 license to drive those cars.
DDS alpha channel not working ingame

Hello, chaps.

I've been messing around with some game textures containing alpha channels and despite using the DXT3 explicit alpha preset in PS Nvidia dds tool, the modified files lack the ingame alpha information, showing the textures on white background instead of transparent one.



Right before saving a dds file, I have only the texture layers visible and the background one hidden in PS. I'm also ending the dds file names with _ALP. Hadn't had issues until the ALPHA to ALP transition.

Thoughts are welcome.

Slabs/ramps/walls from the AU editor uses concrete7.dds for the texturing. The one OP is using is the same but darker.

Hmm,not sure if that would work - overwriting dds file would change skies graphically,but lighting will stay same,I believe.

Hello, does anyone know if it's possible to overwrite the server weather.Say I join a server with morning weather on but want to have it overcast instead.
I know from the pic folder I can change the sky_ files but I dont know which file is used on Autocross.
Also what do the sky_....dds files change exactly in the dds folder.

After I found out about the industrial estate on Blackwood, and had a drive around there, I noticed as an 'enthusiast' that pretty much none of the brands represented on the garages were real, so I decided to retexture and add real brands to the signs outside the garages.
Ended up retexturing pretty much every single ad on all of blackwood, even a few I didn't realize, such as a few flags and some doors here and there.

Adding my .dds folder and pic folder in a zip here for anyone that might want this as well.

I have uploaded it. Just had to convert the original .DDS file to .JPG before I could upload it. Should be working fine now.

Yeah that's not a bad idea at all jujek, I forgot that every .dds texture file can be altered, increasing FPS.

oh, no GPU at all... so it must be running with the chipset, which are terrible almost useless in general.
I've had a desktop with one of those and played LFS, before the new BL it could get 50-70 FPS, on WE 25-30. My desktop died before the new BL but I bet I could get the same fps as I got in WE.

@PusicDrift Its a quad core cpu... 1.8*4 = 7.2Ghz of total speed which is better than an Pentium D for sure 2.5*2 = 5.0Ghz and a more recent architecture than the pentium.
You claim your graphics is poor, I believe in nowadays standards...still its not a chipset .-.

If You also have time and no money for better pc You can convert all DDS textures for like 256x256 it will help i do this long time ago when i was having 2.5ghz cpu 512mb ram and 128mb gpu i was able to play with 50-100fps after this ;D

Here's a message to the whole community. I'm trying to create a skinpack, like the one Yann has suggested. I've asked many people in private and so far collected about 90,000 skins. The international leagues have a decent coverage, but the national competitions could do with improvement.

If you raced/followed some leagues, especially the ones from 2008-2012 as their skinfiles are most likely to have been deleted from LFS skin upload system, I and certainly many more LFS users would appreciate your contribution of skins_x/skins_y folders. Mind you, I'm not sure if I would be allowed to release skins_y pack just yet, so it would be released after the 1024x1024 dimension becomes a low-res standard in LFS.

Ironically, the skins_x folders do not include your own JPG skins, as they are not being downloaded. If you wish, you can attach them as well and I'll resize them appropriately and convert them to DDS.

I set up a request folder, meaning you don't have to find a place to host your pack. Just go to -----NEVERMIND, I SHUT IT DOWN----- and upload the pack directly into my Dropbox.

Ahh I found the culprit for these two DDS files, they are from a VOB mod.

I didn't get them from a VOB mod funnily enough, I got them from an AIO texture pack that had these two files in it.

Modding textures (dds files) is client side only - it does not have any effect at all to anyone else.
Modding cars create online incompatibilities. Even if some do not alter any physical values,still there are incompatibilities like messed up skins,physical/visual model differences - if the replacing car is longer,cars will look like merged when having bumper to bumper contact,or will have empty space between if shorter. Also it shows wrong image to public of LFS - most of newcomers already think this is one of those modding simulators and first question is "how to mod cars?"...
And if just adding rollcage - why bother? It won't make your car stronger to impacts,neither it will be faster or make you better figure skater. Shrug

I'm pretty sure it will work on the newest 0.6R also, the only problem here is what are the names of the new DDS files responsible for the crowd textures.

hey, I just came up with a small issue which is something to do with the new Blackwood update, I believe (the new track is beautiful!).

Tried to install this DDS mod (https://www.lfs.net/forum/thread/87302) and even though all the files included in the mod can still be found in a vanilla LFS 0.6R version DDS folder, the mod doesn't work anymore as shown in the pictures of the modification.

Guess the names of the used textures has now been changed, so if this is the case, can someone please tell me the new ones?

isn't it a .dds file? simply get them from older lfs version, and get that .dds to present lfs version by simply pasting it to same folder?

unless... unless you really mean you want to have multiple options to select wheels. Well, I give +1, but that would not be so much realistic, as it would effect on physics as if making this sim as realistic as possible...

...but then again, nothing is more realistic than real life... so, +1

Very impressive work. Will try to help with seeding. Not a bad idea to go old school with torrents, too.


Might be a pie in the sky idea, but what about a DDS skin torrent? Many skins featured in these replays are no longer offline, so if you weren't there, chances are you will have to look at a bunch of white cars. Which is a shame given the time and talent spent on so many of these missing skins. Obviously it's near impossible to have a complete database, and any attempts at this project would probably contain a few gigs of public server skins nobody needs. Yes, it's a lot of files but 512² DDS files aren't that big. However, I reckon we could simply merge the skin_x folders of a few old-time league racers and have something half-decent for around 20-30 go.

- There are 5 Stages in each rally
- After the season is over, 5 best drivers in Class2 will move to Class1 while the 5 worst drivers in Class1 will drop down to Class2

WHAT I NEED TO DO BEFORE THE RALLY?
- Make sure you have co-driver in the car
- Put your number in front of your name
- Numbers 1-9 must have 0 in front of the name
- Number in your name has to be white
- Only the Class leader uses yellow number
- If you drive XRT or XRG, Your car must have Fake Front lights. You can get them from here:

- Your car needs to have numberplate on both doors of the car
- If your numberplate is too small or big, you have to resize it
- You can have any tires you like on any stage
- Inspection Starts 60 minutes before event where your car needs to be checked
- Team-mates must have identical skins

- Fake Lights (XRG/XRT Only)
- Numberplate
- Register Plate
- Co-Driver

WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE RALLY?
- Each Car starts in numbered order, 20 seconds after each other
- If you crash, you don't have to spectate
- If you retire during rally, you are not allowed to continue
- If your car manages to go off the track, and be unable to get back, ask for help
- If you crash after finish, or hit the Marshal, you will be retired
- Restarting will cause you disqualified
- If you jumpstart, you will get a 10 second penalty
- Spamming in chat is forbidden
- Let faster drivers go past you if needed
- Object penalties do not count
- Crashing into other drivers on purpose will cause a disqualification
- Helping other drivers is allowed only if you're driving the stage at the moment
- If your internet connection crashes during the stage, you're allowed to restart ONLY ONCE
- Times are counted as XX:XX.X
- Editing the layout during the event will get you disqualified for the rest of the season.
