If Honda doesn't get anywhere next season, Brawn will be just like Pat Symonds talking about how Renault needs to improve for the next race.... and the next race........ and the next race.

I hope Brawn gets the job done.

Correction. Button said Hamilton is not good enough at growing facial hair.

**For a man trying very hard in the modelling business with Honda, he is good enough.

Quote from UncleBenny :couldn't you just run an AI race with 32 people, then save the replay and watch it

You can only add 20 AI or have a 20 car grid in singleplayer.

Bump!

We haven't had much interest with GT2 applicants still. I believe only one or two GT1 teams have signed on, and that isn't enough to fill the spaces

If any teams are interested in joining, feel free to apply by following the instructions above. The 3rd race is coming soon (Nov 24th).

Quote from adin :FINNISHED F1 1998 Sauber - a replica of this formula 1 car

The real car had a bit more vibrant blue and green(?) on it. Your is kind of a pale blue with purple hue? But it looks nice anyways

I'd like to see examples of it in LFS... like on a brick wall or something?

Not quite sure I understand....

Is it something that makes textures appear to have bump mapping? If so, I think LFS could use that a little bit, to give textures some depth.

Or is it something you can do to actually make bump mapping in LFS?

Myself saying "stupid street" has nothing to do with so called ricer bashing you expect from this forum. And being specific, I was calling the street stupid actually, not "stupid street racing with ricers zomg and nos!!!" as you seem to read it.

No matter what, I honestly think it is just plain stupid to have a street/highway to race on, simple as that, is that any more clear? Underlining the word track would surely have got that point through your thick skull, but apparently it never worked.... even after you so knowingly imitated me.

Scania posts a lot of tracks he hopes to drive on in LFS... some suggested are cool (I've replied to a few I liked), and some would just put LFS in the wrong direction in my opinion... like this one.

The sections that show the snappy grip of the LX4, like in switchback areas... REALLY good shots imo

Some crossfades are a bit too long imo, but all in all a decent quick vid

De la Rosa could be their only choice I think. He has previous GP experience, and has been testing for them for quite a while. Though, I've heard he will continue to be their test driver.....

I am just watching this list here to see what teams/drivers get updated: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2 ... _season#Teams_and_drivers

Quote from adin :FOX a'la Peugeot 908 test ver. from Du Mans 24h race

Nice, I'll be using this, as my current theme is all black/grey

Quote from Btoryo :Philippine FOX skin from me, my second try making a flag skin for the FOX

Looks like something that could be used in A1GP (but similar to Czech's theme ).

Quote from teaz-R :Not for me they aren't. I suppose they're an easy way to make something rather complex looking with a bit less effort. I wouldn't call it designing though..

Yeah I know you haven't Wink, but it is quite annoying to see people using these common vector packs that for one... aren't "free"... and secondly, like you said... not designing at all.

Ooops, I meant to say critics that call themselves artists.

(bold and underlined for you)

We are left with what Eric can come up with, that is what we have to live with, and based on that notion he is just about the only 'holy' developer we can rely on for our tracks. I think the S2 tracks are his worst works to date, and S1 tracks still the only worthwhile tracks to race on.

Still doesn't mean he can't make something nice that feels "real". Either way, any track he makes is added value to LFS, even if it sucks... because LFS needs more tracks --- BAD. Just as long as it isn't a new config

Quote from nihil :Do not agree with this in the least. Stupid street? [yawn] Sounds like knee jerk reactionism to me.... Anyway this has all been discussed before: the fictional nature of LFS tr ... of the problem with them.

You're awfully misinterpreting this anyways. Have you ever seen this "Wangan" expressway?

Tell me something, would you REALLY want that in LFS? Gimme a break. Last I want to hear is something about tracks being too "linear" or some god awful attempt to review a fictional track. And lastly be spiked by some snobby "you said 'real' " policeman.

Any talented track designer can make what he pleases, it doesn't have to be "real"... especially in Live for Speed's case. I understand people really want to drive around on a "real" track in LFS (hell I'd like Laguna Seca), but I find a lot more pleasure in driving a track that nobody else knows... one that a designer takes the time in making, and creating something new for everyone. It feels very rewarding to be driving on a quality fictional track. I'd do anything to have ANY kind of track in LFS, but note.... TRACK.

This subject has gone through enough discussion from "sim scholars" (especially those who are ignorant "artists" slash critics who think they can do better and believe extremely planar GPL recreations suffice), that it just gets put down every time you try and fight it. Eric has said himself that he'd prefer leaving it to his own imagination, as it would take a lot of time and money to make a "real" location accurate.

I could come up with plenty of new and fictional track ideas, but the last thing I'd think of making is a bloody expressway to race on . That is all my point really is.

Quote from Dajmin :Maybe not, but that doesn't mean there's anything wrong with being in a sim. It'd just be a faster version of a road track, a cross between oval and circuit.

There are a lot of things wrong with it.

The biggest reason is that Eric could spend more time on making fictional tracks, than trying to model a stupid street? Yes I'd like more tracks in LFS (it's actually the one thing that LFS needs badly atm), but I certainly do NOT want a street course such as this. Shows the least bit of creativity IMO.

Quote from frokki :Honestly, do you think it was a good idea to make a new thread just for this?

The guy really wants a lot of tracks in LFS

I don't ever see a real-life track being in LFS for a long time... or ever... Eric makes fictional ones, and strictly that.

Quote from P1lot :This season we're using a stylised number on the side as part of the overall paint scheme, so on a selfish note I'd prefer no forced number plaque.

We aren't forcing anyone to use the number plaques, I've said that before the season started, but would require that people use the proper sunstrip and class color designation in the right places.

But your skin may look pretty stupid if you didn't fit the theme most others will be using after I release the template -- that is my selfish note I already know some teams will complain that the number plaque will cover up their design . But all endurance series I know of mandate a number plaque in exactly the same position for every car, and their car design be based around that. If the number plaque is a problem for some, perhaps they can move it around.... but I sure hope they don't go squishing it and rotating it to make it look really stupid/small :zombie:

@Banshee: Both classes will have color designation on front and rear. It's just a matter of how I will do it, and how visible it is on everyone's skin.

At the moment I am going to try and make something that is a cross between Super GT (white for GT500 and yellow for GT300), ALMS, and that Zurich Insurance plaque used in 24H Nordschleife races (but not as big).
