Multithreading won't hurt LFS. But any multithreaded application needs to have a damn good way to synchronize data between the threads, or else you can get into deadlock situations which will be very painful to debug, which is very hard to do as it is.
Scawen has said he would like to separate the graphics and the physics engine and make them run on separate threads, which sounds like a very difficult task to me. I'm not sure how much it would help though, as LFS doesn't have revolutionary graphics which would need to run in their own thread. I would just have the physics for each car on the track run in it's own thread, I feel that would get more out of the CPU. Again, they would need to be synchronized very well for this to work properly.
I didn't know the profiler had those functions, but the default settings are fine for me. (And it doesn't look like you use them either, since that screenshot has all the default values set.) I guess in some situations you may need to use it, but I personally can't find any use for it.
Umm, no guys, the profiler does none of those things. That stuff in the control panel. The profiler is that little application which allows you to configure the buttons for all the games on your system, so you can switch profiles depending on what game you're playing. Useless app imo.
Why in the world would anyone use the Logitech profiler? I've never used it and I've had a momo and G25 for the past decade or so, and everything worked fine without it.
But it's probably like that to reduce spamming. Can you imagine what this forum would be like if that little text box was enabled by default without having to click the quick reply button? It would be too easy to post, and people would go nuts with it.
Hmmm ... live broadcasts ... that would be cool ... but I hope you record them as well, cause people like me here in north america may not be able to enjoy it live since it may be happening too early in the day for me. But other than that, I really enjoyed the old STCC broadcasts, so I look forward to seeing this happening soon.
Just turn down the all the LOD settings in the options, because the stock LFS textures are already very low quality, and anything lower wouldn't make a difference.
Who had the bright idea to put an ice hockey team in the middle of the desert? I mean seriously, what were they thinking? Those people in Pheonix don't even have winters, so why would they have any interest in a winter sport? That's like having the winter olympics in Egypt, it's something that you just don't do for obvious reasons.
It was a good game, and a good series overall, I was happy to see the Pens win it all. It doesn't matter that Crosby and Malkin didn't contribute much in the series, they both pretty much carried the team in the previous rounds to actually get them to the Stanley Cup final. And just their presence on the ice is enough to spark the team.
I'm sure Vic can find a place for it, I mean we even have info on lfs.net where it shows "number of racers online", right? I'd put it in the empty space between the LFS Forum logo and the advertisement at the top, though that's probably not the best place.
I think it is relevant info, who wouldn't want to be the best racer at a particular point in time? That's why I think it should be put here, instead of being hidden away on LFSW. And every time I visit LFSW the home page never pops up (and I like it that way so I don't have to close it every time) because it keeps me logged in permanently.
