He drives JapCrap if I recall, MR2 is it?

Give me a new Chevy Camaro or a Ford Mustang any day over a BMW. I didn't take Snob101 in school, so I'm not allowed to drive a BMW (nor could I afford to, which also brings me to my crap job also because I did not take Snob101 in school.)

Quote from garph :Autowipers are awesome. If you wouldn't have them, your wrong.

I could not disagree with you more. I love RainX. I apply them to all windows and the side mirrors liberally. I very very rarely ever even use my wipers. It has to be a horrendous downpour for me to use my wipers. I certainly don't want them wiping at any hint of rain. Just like the stupid auto glare mirrors in cars these days, I'm the one driving, I'll decide when I want to use these features manually.

It's bright as bright can be in the mornings sometimes when I am heading to work. Sure, absolutely no need for my headlights to see. The issue is when I am sitting at the only stop I have pulling onto another road where cars are rounding a bend on a hill right where the morning sun sits right behind them in a break in the trees. You can't see cars rounding that bend at all if they are running without their headlights.

Quote from PMD9409 :Sex ed at the age of 7-8, interesting.

8-9 actually, but it's not that different....

My daughter hasn't had sex-ed in school, she's 9, soon to be 10, which is 4th grade. She wouldn't have a clue what they were talking about at this age.

See, that is the difference between a girl and a wife. A girl, you can talk and communicate to, and if it doesn't work, oh well. But when they are wife, you just apologize because......

I'd get a phone that you can make phone calls on....

There's one thing I noticed, everyone I see with these smart phones, I never see anyone talking on them as a phone, hehe.

I'm still holding out on cell phones. I don't want or need people to be able to get a hold of me no matter what I'm doing or where I am.

Quote from Xaid0n :48p a litre! .... wow, don't even think it was that cheap even back in the 60s or 70s was it?

Yeah, but we also pay 3 times the price for used cars, thus our cost per mile is a lot greater than yours.

I recently looked up a 2006 VW Jetta TDI in the UK and US. UK price was around 5 or 6k in GBP while the same car goes for $16-18k over here.

I'd love to pay your fuel prices if I could get cars as dirt cheap as you folks can.

I have the google redirect and it's a major PITA. I can't get rid of it short of a full wipe and reinstall which I can't do right now. Not only is a reinstall a PITA, but I'm on a 2005 computer with XP and have days and days worth of updates with a reinstall.

I've learned to live with the [right click] [copy location] [paste in address bar] way of searching.

It's so funny when internet experts from over there in a car forum talk about how any modifications done to a suspension means "bye bye handling..."

So, if the manufacturers are so perfect in the way they set up the suspension from factory, which is correct on my car? I have a Jetta Wolfsburg Edition. It's exactly the same as all other Jettas (GL, GLI, etc.) except for a few trim differences and the main difference being a different suspension setup. I'm sure the suspension components such as upper and lower a-arms and such are exactly the same other than some stiffer springs and shocks. So, if the majority of Jettas out on the road are the GL and GLI's, and mine is different than theirs, which one would be the perfect suspension? How can you say that you would mess up a manufacturer's factory setup with any kind of modification if there is more than one setup that is factory?

Funny how 90% of the VW Jettas out there have a softer suspension and my Wolfsburg has a stiffer suspension and a good bit better handling, with nothing more than a normal Joe would do in the backyard with swapping out springs and shocks. So, I guess all you internet suspension experts agree then, that VW completely F'ed everything up when designing the suspension because 90% has the poorer handling setup and the manufacturers are suppose to be the true experts with perfect setup...

Love the 2 with the road, Ben.

And lovely tomatoes. We are making some home made salsa tomorrow.

Yesterday's dinner was completely home grown. Some fantastic tasting t-bone steaks on the grill that my father-in-law raised (the best beef he butchered yet), some potatoes I dug up, cubed, and cooked in the cast iron on the grill tossed with some EVOO, and a tomato salad.

Best thing to do in this situation is to start the car with a video camera and keep revving the sucker with obvious broken crap rattling around in there while you video tape it so that more stuff gets broken....

Quote from John5200 :btw... is that the regular travel speed in america? (I don´t mean that UFO)

65 in my sorry state but 70 mph is normal around elsewhere for max speed limit.

As for regular travel speed, meaning what people normally drive.... You get anything from folks doing 10-15 mph under the limit to normally folks driving 10-15 mph over the limit, except for the big cities. There, they seem to drive 90 mph or greater. On my trip to Florida, Georgia was pretty calm as I've read on travel sites that they watch speed very closely. Most were driving 75 in 70 mph zones. But when I crossed into Florida, at times I was reaching close to 100 mph and still had people flying past me like I was standing still.

When I went to Florida, I drove through the West Virginia mountains on the highway. My sorry excuse of a vehicle, Mazda Tribute, couldn't even keep up the 70 mph limit on those hills. Not only that, but I was getting seasick from rocking back and forth. I think I drove for at least 2 hours or more without ever driving a straight section. The ride home was rougher as it was about 15 hours into the 19 hour trip with an extremely tired family.

Quote from Sternendaal :Failed point of sarcasm then

They should make all kinds of drugs legal and tax them. Will result in lower prices, less theft etc.

I agree with the first and last part, but not the middle. Currently, pot is still approximately the same cost as it was when I was smoking it, which was back in the early 90's. Around 1995 I quit smoking pot.

It was $35 for a quarter ounce then, it's $35 for a quarter ounce now 15 years later. If it was legal and taxed, it would have raised the cost right along with everything else that was legal.

I was drinking a beer in 1995 for about $1.50-2.50 in a bar. Today, you'll pay I'm guessing $3.50-4.50 or more for a beer. Guessing because I don't drink often anymore, and when I do, it is at afterwork functions and my boss pays for it.

I have 9 or 10 apple trees and 4 peach trees. Wifey makes a lot of apple pie, which is awesome, and homemade applesauce kicks ass.

The peaches are amazingly juicy. You need a bib to eat them.

I agree with DWB, pineapple is the tastiest. But the ultimate is in the arguement of, "is a tomato a fruit or a vegetable?" If tomato is a fruit, then it by far out weighs everything. Tomatoes in the garden is a must have. Tomatoes in the freezer for winter is a must have. Fresh tomatoes in a salad, on a sandwich, sliced up plain with some salt, awesome. Homemade spagetti sauce and chili made from tomatoes preserved from the garden in the middle of winter is to die for.

So my vote would go to the tomato.

Just booked a 4 day stay at Ocean City, Maryland for some fun on the beach with the kids before school. I'm taking the tripod and hope to escape for a few hours away from the wife and kids to spend some time at the harbor.

As a last minute budget trip I won't be staying on the beach with a balcony overlooking the ocean. Wifey and the rats will probably sleep in while I get up at 5 or 6 am so I hope to head out to the beach with the tripod early for some good sunrise as well. Maybe catch some beach fishermen with the camera. Someone landing a small shark would be a good catch for me.

Quote from mamoru :A little offtopic, I am trying to replace my car with another Mazda. I recall someone here having a Mazda3, but I cannot remember who.

Will you please share your opinion about this car. I have just taken a testdrive today so yea.. I loved how it drove but it is still (or atleast, that one was) too expensive (any donations are welcome ). I want to know of someone who has this car for a while what their recommendations are when trying to buy this car.

Current car: Mazda Xedos6

Thank you in advance

It is XCNuse who has a Mazda3, and I who was looking at them a month ago. I drove it and loved it (2004). Problem is, every single 2004-2006 I looked at was already rusted around the rear fenderlip. I read up more on it and there is a major problem, at least over here in North America, with them prematurely rusting. Here in Pennsylvania where we get a good amount of snow and a lot of salt on the roads, you can expect rust to start any time between 150,000 and 200,000 miles. These Mazdas that were rusted had a mere 50-70,000 miles on them. That mileage should still look like brand new, not rusting out.

Folks such as XCNuse who live in the lower part of the US probably won't have too much of a problem, but if you have any kind of winter weather, from what I've read EVERYONE in the northern US and in Canada is having problems with rust. Mazda Canada is fixing everyone's under an extended warranty. Mazda USA thinks everyone lives in California thus there is no problem. I had no less than 6 or 7 Mazda3s saved on my search and upon inspection of even the pictures in the ads, every one of them you could see the rust starting.

Other than that, what a fabulous car to drive. I'm MORE than happy with my 1.8T Jetta I bought, but I really REALLY liked the way the Mazda drove and felt.

If you really can play the guitar, then you should know it's not about the looks at all. It's about how it feels and what it sounds like. Nothing more, nothing less. You can choose color, but don't choose guitar by how it looks.

Quote from bunder9999 :i've done that before... but it only works if the distributor contact points are good, along with the wiring.

I've also done that before. Let it be known, the possibility of your hand automatically punching the hood of your car harder than you have ever punched something in your life is there. I thought I broke my hand when the juice caught me and my entire arm jerked upwards ramming my hand into the hood (bonnet).
