Ah, the car bra is a wonderfully thought out accessory to any car. Protect your car from rock chips and see all the scratches and abrasions from the dirt getting underneath when you take it off. What a great idea. I've seen them rub completely through the paint to bare metal, but hey, that guy didn't have any chips from rocks....

Quote from sam93 :I know loads of people go on about engineering and how you have to know about it before building say a race car, but it must all be self teachable because the first person to discover this stuff had to self teach himself lol.

Everything and anything is self teachable. Engineers just think they are something special, that they are far more special than everyone else.

Can you guys over there just go to a track, register, and run all you want? That's what it seems like. Anyone? I'm looking around and it seems over here you have to take beginner classes and move through ranks and it would be forever before you would get more than an hour of track time.

I'd love to get a car and actually go to a track day, but it seems like it would be nothing but hundreds of $$$ for sitting in a classroom for several sessions which means very little track time for probably a year or better.

Mid-Ohio I am seeing that it is $750 in their Acuras or $650 in your car, and you get an hour of track time. I am seeing no "track days" where you would actually run on the track for any track anywhere near me. It's all mostly classroom and instruction stuff.

You guys really are making me jealous with all this track day talk.

Neat little game, but it definitely needs some more racing/events. Collecting merely once a week on an event doesn't let you do much over the initial playing with a car. It will get old real fast.

I don't recall those being in the camera thread, or I missed it. Anyways, white balance, Ian. Get rid of that yellow light. Even doing a custom white balance on a piece of normal white paper would help out.

Think they are problematic now? Wait until one fools you into the final commitment. Then it is way too expensive to rectify the situation.

I approved his job today just cause you said it wouldnt be approved Haha.

Rappa Z you can collect your money today As long as you do it before midnight.

Today is Sunday. I thought Saturday was the only day to collect? If you missed on Saturday, you have to wait until the following week to start collecting.

I joined to see what it is all about the other day. I didn't go for all your typical ricer cars. I went for something classic and classy. And I whooped all of you except for Luke S and his FUGLY Celica in Circuit Race 8....

Looking through all the profiles, looks like I'm the only old guy there. I'm not posting the age to refrain from embarrassment

Quote from franky500 :count yourself lucky.. our staff room only had a freeview TV... that barely worked.

Count yourself lucky... Over here, we go to work to work, not to watch TV. I do have a microwave at my workstation though, so I can have a hot meal that 3 minutes I have to eat.

Quote from amp88 :Yep. It looks like Tropicana with no bits. A very nice OJ indeed.

No bits? What, do you want to be held in our arms and rocked while you drink it from a bottle? Real men don't drink OJ, they chew the stuff that has the extra pulp.

Quote from wien :Firefox now does colour management by default (like it should), so that's probably what you're seeing. Here's how you change the setting: http://blog.duber.cz/misc/firefox-color-management-madness

THANK YOU!!! That did the trick. All I could find on a search was that it was a bug. I saw many forum postings from a search with complaints about it when all they did was change the default value for the 3.5 release.

I was wondering why other's photos here (sorry, they are not in print here so other's [i]images]/i] ....) were looking so dark. I couldn't even see the building of Tomba's post. It was a silhouette for me.

You guys should try to figure out if focus is on or off and sharpen on a blurry monitor like I have to. That's some skill

Why I don't have much to post lately..... As I said the other day, I'm into grilling and bbq'ing now....

1st hour indirect at 220-230 F....

Moved to direct heat for some BBQ sauce carmalization....

I could have had much bigger potatoes. They melted in our mouths....

WOW! The new FireFox 3.5 is TERRIBLE at displaying pictures. They look horrible and nothing like they did in Photoshop or my old Firefox install. Looks like I have to do an abrupt uninstall/reinstall to get it back looking correctly. Just trying the new FF tonight. Wrong decision....

You all need to make up your minds over there. First you love the little enclosed lawnmowers when anyone from the US/Canada mentions something that has guts to it and the next day you all make fun of the little glorified lawnmowers.

GM couldn't put feeling in the brakes and steering of their Cavalier, Sunbird, Sunfire, Grand Am, Grand Prix, minivan, Bonneville, Corsica, Beretta, Delta 88, Alero, Century, S10 Blazer, S10 Pickup, full size Blazer, full size pickup, Envoy, or any other GM I've driven (I think that is all), I highly doubt they are going to put anything decent in the Aveo that would make it capable of driving.

I would love to drive a Corvette. I'd love to feel if it has horribly spongy brakes and steering that feels like a bumpercar just like all their other cars.

Quote from zeugnimod :You have 110GB of important stuff? Wow.

I have 45 gig of photography stuff (videos and photographs), 15 gig of stuff for flight simming, 10 gig of LFS stuff (downloads, mprs, and skinning stuff), and 10 gig of music, which isn't all that much music. That totals 80 gig, which isn't everything I have that needs backed up and everything that is important. That's just the big stuff of which is irreplaceable (photography stuff) or I wouldn't want to have to download it all again (flight sim stuff.)

110 gb would be quite easy to collect.

Quote from simscube :Your comment on the profession of marketing is correct, however Billy was a person who made sure whatever he sold was a genuine product, something that was great and worked. If you watch product reviews of items he markets, each one preforms just a good as they do on the commercial. He truly believed in his products and is actually known to have used them in his day to day.

My wife uses Orange Glo once a month on our hardwood floors. It's great stuff. We have used OxyClean on occasion and my mother-in-law also uses OxyClean all the time. It is also great stuff.

Quote from S14 DRIFT :You don't buy a car with 450bhp to drive at the speedlimit, unless your car just happens to be some sort of Limousine. You buy a Ferrari (Lambo/Aston/Porsche, etc) to drive it in some sort of the manner it's designed to driven in..

If you are buying a car not specifically for use at a track, then you are buying a car for transportation. It matters not if it has 70 hp or 1000 hp, there are traffic laws that you should be abiding by if you are on public roads. It's the same concept of guns.... cars don't kill the driver, the driver kills the driver. You all have already said that you can take your little toy cars and do 70 mph. 70 mph in a toy car is the same as 70 mph in a Ferrari.

If someone pulls out in front of you, who is at fault? Legally the car that pulls out. BUT, you are also at fault because obviously you were not giving driving your undivided attention. How was that car able to pull out and you hit it? Why were you not preparing for a potential accident by driving defensively. You have brakes, why didn't you attempt to use them and slow down to relieve some of the potential for injury? Why were you driving at the speed that someone would think it was safe enough to pull out if it was a narrow road?

A car does what the driver tells it to do. If the driver tells a Ferrari to drive 100 mph, then it is going to do that. As well as if the driver tells a Ferrari to drive 35 mph, it is going to do that also. It comes down to stupidity of the driver, not the car.

One of my biggest pet peeves is reading about an accident in the newspaper and seeing it quoted that speed was the reason for the accident. Speed can't be the reason, the reason is the driver did something stupid.

There isn't a car available over here that gets 40 mpg, thus "most new cars" don't get 40 mpg. Last I knew Honda Fit, Toyota can't remember the name, Scion little box, all got 32-35 mpg in a comparison test of one of the magazines over here. They raved about the wonderful milage these cars were getting. My first car from the early 80s got that kind of milage with similar size motor. That's 30 years of technology for you.

Quote from Dajmin :Big engines are usually utterly pointless for road driving, and a seriously bad idea in this financial climate. In terms of insurance, I could've gone for the v6 version of my car without much of an increase (and sometimes I wish I had), but in my 1.5 I'll get well over 100 extra miles from my tank of fuel. The v6 makes a nicer noise though, I'd like that

Track driving and towing are the only reasons to have a big engine. And saying "ah has moar horsez!" of course. You don't need 300hp to go shopping or pick kids up from school. And if you were towing you'd surely go for a diesel instead, right?

Exactly why is it pointless? I have 2 cars, a "big" V6 SUV (big in quotes because it's really not big) and a 4 cylinder car that is small and light.

The "big" V6 SUV weighs 1000+ pounds more and I don't have to shift it down to 2nd gear when just driving down the road. I live in the country and drive half an hour at 65 mph. In the car, throttle is at a constant half to 3/4 to the floor while the SUV lopes along with my foot barely touching it. The car sits at 3500 rpm but then shifts constantly (continuous 60-65 mph driving) to run up the hills and they aren't very large hills. The SUV, as I said, barely touching the throttle pedal and it's loping along at around 2100-2200 rpm moving along with ease.

Here's the kicker.... That "horrid heavy gas guzzling SUV" gets 22-24 mpg. The economical and gas sipping car? ......22-24 mpg.

The problem with these discussions on here is, the UK thinks it is the center of the universe and all should abide by how it is there. If you aren't in the UK, be a worldly rebel! Get yourself a car with more hp than my lawn tractor! Don't worry, hp doesn't equal death. It's the mentality of the person or idiot, whichever it may be, behind the wheel, not how big the engine is in the car.
