Whoah Forbin, that's not good

I rode for 4 years and went down twice. Once the 2nd day I had the bike when I locked the front up on sandy gravel turning onto another road. I was nervous with the idiot behind me in the big 4x4 truck riding on my rear. The more embarassing was the 2nd week when I forgot to put my kickstand down. I pulled into the garage and Wifey's grandfather came out to see the bike. I sat on it talking to him for 10 minutes or so, then proceeded to set the bike down on the kickstand which wasn't down. Sat there right at that point where you can barely hold it up grunting and yelling trying not to fall until I finally lost it. Wifey's grandfather at that point was in the doorway going in the house, so everyone piled out to see why I was making so much noise just in time to see me tumble into the pile of cardboard boxes.

Quote from J@tko :I've been driving for 5 months [yes, CLEAR THE ROADS!] and have not once ever been overtaken in a safe manner by a motorcyclist.

Quote from zeugnimod :+1

Only that it's 3 months for me.

And you guys make fun of us over here with our cruiser bikes.

Riding for us isn't about being boy racer. Riding is for relaxation, kicked back, legs comfortably stretched out, and the wind kicking in your hair (Ok, for many, but I always did wear a helmet except for once to try it after they revoked the helmet law in my state.)

90% of the time when you see a motorcycle, the aren't going to overtake you. They are merely out for a nice ride or just a nice ride home from work. There is still that 10% of idiot know-it-all kids on their crotch rocket bikes who like to wheelie past you on the center line between traffic doing 100 mph. But they are idiot kids. Natural selection will hopefully catch up to them eventually.

Wait, what am I saying, 90% of this forum is nothing but know-it-all kids.

Quote from Migz :And Dajmin, ive pretty much told all the story, theres nothing left to tell. We werent right up his ass, and we went far far behind, we were at a distance which i/most bikers feel that is a fair distance away from a car. But as i found out this distance wasnt far enough, so now i ride quite far behind the car infront.

By your own admittance, you were chasing the guy down. Thus, it can be assumed you were not leisurely riding behind him at "a fair distance", but still accelerating or riding faster than he was going.

If all Japanese cars are rice, and now German cars are Bratworst, I guess since my Mazda is actually only a rebadged Ford, it is Barbeque.

So I own 2 rice and a barbeque...

Let me get this straight....

Two idiot bikers who don't know how to ride (stalled bike, holding up traffic...) piss off an idiot cager (car driver, they call them cagers over here) who doesn't know how to drive. Now pissed off Idiot cager who doesn't know how to drive makes an idiotic move to show he's pissed off, an idiot, and doesn't know how to drive. This pisses off the idiot bikers who don't know how to ride, so then pissed off idiot bikers who don't know how to ride chase pissed off idiot cager who doesn't know how to drive down to show they are pissed, idiots, and don't know how to ride. Then pissed off idiot cager who doesn't know how to drive does something else idiotic to piss off the pissed off idiot bikers who don't know how to ride to show further that he's pissed off, an idiot, and doesn't know how to drive and the pissed off idiot bikers who don't know how to ride crash into pissed off idiot cager who doesn't know how to drive because the pissed off idiot bikers don't know how to ride.

Whew , I think I have it all figured out now. What a great story.

Quote from Danke :Install a huge rear wing. It won't fix your problem, but at least you'll fit in with all the other '91 Civics out there.

Around here, adults buy Hondas, not the kids. The reason kids don't buy them and rice them up is because either adults trade them every 2 years and a 2 year old used Honda is too expensive for kids, or adults usually just buy them and keep them for 15-20 years until their life has run out at 200k.

150-200k cars around here are completely falling apart from rust. Tis why we don't have good cheap cars like most of you are tossing up on the forum here. A "good" cheap car is anywhere from $10k and up because they need to be less than 10 years old. Not exactly cheap.

Last one is good too. But I think you made the right choice in your first post. Love how they are looking in opposite directions.

I'm a dog lover as well. I had some disturbing news from the neighbor across the road from me. He came home from work at 2 am the other morning and didn't hear anything from his 2 dogs tied out behind the house (I don't like the fact that dogs get tied out, and definitely not after this.) He found both of his dogs shredded. The Lab mix was opened up from the neck to its hind end and it's guts were laying out on the ground. The hound was in bad shape in the back end and could only attempt to pull itself along with it's front paws. They were both still alive and he had to put them down, crying like a baby as he said when he did it.

The game commission here in PA insists that there are no more natural mountain lions here since the late 1800's. My neighbor said I can call him an idiot, moron, stupid, or whatever I want, but he found a print in the dirt that looks like a BIG cat to him.

My dog likes to get tied out in the backyard in the evenings instead of laying around the house. I would bring her in for bedtime, but would often put her out just for the evening. I won't be doing that anymore.

We have coyotes, bear, and some bobcat. Coyotes certainly would attack, but I think coyotes would have eaten the dogs. I don't think a bobcat would attack a dog, tied up or otherwise. A bear could certainly open up a dog cleanly and completely with a single swipe, but a bear never would have approached the dogs. Makes me wonder as there are plenty of reports of mountain lion (cougar, puma, panther, all the same) around here, but the game commission still insists there are NO cougar in Pennsylvania.

I did not stay at college, I stayed at home. So, I don't know what staying at school would be like. I do know, after classes at my school, I would go to the other school's dorms and party.

As Maggot said, your lifelong friends are made in college. The number of very close friends from high school that I am in current contact with is 0. From college, I have a friend, whom I worked with at my current job for 12 years (he moved on to something else a couple of years ago,) and we are now also brother-in-laws. He's no longer a friend, he is and has been for 12 years, family.

Quote from Jakg :I'm confused as to what you were doing Dan?

Took me a moment to see it too. He tinted the lens for the reverse light from white to red on the right side.

That wouldn't be legal here. How does someone know you have your car in reverse now? Also, though many aren't bright enough but they do help, how do you see anyone walking behind you in a dark parking lot when you are in reverse before you move?

Not a good idea.

What would we call the city if the Steelers were to get another one? Sixburgh just rolls right off the tongue as it is now.

And it's Pixburgh Stillers, not Steelahs. That's half of where the "Sixburgh" comes from. Not just six superbowls, but the fact that Pittsburghers pronounce it as "Pixburgh."

Yinz gotta be from dahn tahn Pixburgh anat to unnerstan...

But as you can see in my avatar, I don't care much about this particular thread....

Just got an email from Snapfish.com. They want me back and gave me 50 free 4x6 prints, big deal, who cares.

The sent me a survey, "We want you back, tell us how to improve..."

I clicked the "I was unhappy with quality of the prints or photo products I ordered" option then told them their prints are the worst I've ever seen. Absolutely horrible prints.

Ben, just curious do you print and if you do, where do you print (or anyone else here on this thread in the US?) I sent 3 identical photos to MPix, Adorama, and Snapfish when I first got the camera. I was floored by the quality of Adorama. Snapfish looked like my 5 year old daughter could have drawn in crayon better than their prints. I won't bother with anyone else I was so happy with the prints from Adorama. I sent a color of my daughter with a colorful sundress and bright flower, a B&W conversion, and an antique processed of my other daughter to each of the printers.

I need to print more often. I never go through the bother of uploading and ordering. I have several that I want to print out for the walls and I just missed 30 8x10 for $30 prepay prints at Adorama. $1 a piece for 8x10, that's dang cheap and I missed it! Adorama is always sending deals out in email.

I'll probably bother with uploading 50 photos and getting my 50 free crappy prints from Snapfish. I'll upload the not-so-important stuff. I have a ton of birthday and holiday snapshots I need printed and never did.

Sam, you stole my photo! The other day I drove past the field down the road from home thinking that it would make a good image of the hay bales with the morning sun blasting through some clouds. Unfortunately, I leave for work way too early and the sun isn't up yet....

That's exactly the image I had imagined.

Then we'll run up the road to Denny's Beer and Pub and tackle one of these....

Haven't posted in a while because haven't left the boring backyard in a while. Yesterday took the kids up to Erie, PA to do some swimming (yup, in that filthy water...) Here's some shots....

This guy was a bit out of his element. Wrong boat for that lake....

Plenty of sailboats out there. Here's the best shot I grabbed of a sailboat....

Heard a siren coming. We were standing along the "no wake" channel. These guys didn't seem to care about the "no wake" status and flew by at a blistering speed past everyone putting along....

And tried to do a little panning with him as he went by. Couldn't get it zoomed back quickly enough and couldn't get a good shutter speed for panning. Was shooting aperture priority at f/6.8 all day. I didn't have time, nor did I think to go one more click on aperture which would take me to f/13.5 and probably around 1/80-1/120 second rather than the 1/340 this is at.....

And my favorite of the day....

That and make the shots meaningful I'm starting to see too many folks posting shots showing off the equipment rather than showing off the artistic side. I don't care about how fantastic the bokeh is when it's a simple shot of a pen sitting on a desk with the computer blurred in the background

Let's see some more artistic sides!

That said, I haven't picked up the camera in months really. I'd like to get out some, but wifey works evenings now and it's just me and the kids. Too much home stuff to do to go anywhere for photography. I need to take a trip out to the lake by myself so I have time to do my own thing.
