Beautiful day. I'm driving home, windows down, tunes are crankin. I just want to get home to enjoy the evening. Get on the main road heading up north, 55 mph. I'm cruising a bit higher than that, I want to get home. Up ahead, what do I see? Hmm, nice looking Mustang. I get closer, nope, not just a Mustang, a Shelby Mustang. I catch up to him in my 185,000 mile tired 100 hp weak Civic and..... He's doing 45 mph just putting along! I can't get around him, I'm in a freakin 1994 Civic for crying out loud. I just want to get home while there's still daylight and I'm stuck behind a freakin Shelby Mustang in a POS lacking any power Civic putting along at 10 mph under the limit!
I swear the rear tires on that thing was half the width of my entire car.
I am the only person I know that still has a CRT television. That said, I paid $230 in 1996 for my television and the picture looks better than any wide screen flat panel tv that I have seen. I have yet to even watch an HD signal.
$600 for a crappy TV or $1100 for a really nice TV isn't cheap in my book. That is quite expensive. And as I said, I still haven't seen one, even the $1100 units, that looks better than my $230 14 year old CRT since I've yet to see an HD signal.
Oh, and that 14 year old TV of mine is, well, 14 years old. I don't know anyone who has a new TV that isn't on their 2nd unit after 5 years because they broke.
It's been a long while since I've done anything with the camera. I still don't have my hard drives situated from the fact that my portable drive I bought WAY back is inaccessible due to the USB circuit part and haven't gotten the drive removed and installed inside the PC yet (too much other stuff going on to worry about the PC.)
Thus, I was sitting outside in the shade with my guitar on my knee and my camera around my neck while the kids played in the pool and figured I'd try a few out....
Cool, I just noticed on the first shot you can really see the groove in the index finger from playing.
The 2nd one I was actually trying to show something rather than just thinking that it was a "this would be cool..." shot. I was trying to really put some power into bending the string to show all the distortion in the skin on the fingers, but juggling getting the shot with the camera and positioning my fingers, I think the fingers laxed quite a bit on the strings.
Had some other good shots, but with the way the sunlight was filtering down through the trees, it created some not-so-good hot spots with the exposure needed in all the shade. I wanted to play around with those spots of light, but the contrast between the sunspots and the shade was too drastic for my camera (or skill level, hehe.)
If you were just cruising down the highway and someone pulled onto the road from a side road or an onramp and hit you, would you be happy with being charged with reckless driving? Same thing here, only the elephant didn't feel the mouse he stepped on when that mouse ran out in front of him.
1: she quit her job - That's just women, not specific to nationality.
2: became a leach - Same.
3: broke my PC... twice - Women don't understand computers, they all will.
4: cooked horribly - She cooked? For you?
5: orgazzed in less than 5 minutes - As you get older, this is a good thing. You can get to sleep quicker, which is what you want to do anyways, blow out a quick one and get to sleep.
6: lazy - Again, women, not Japanese women.
7: Got very annoying - You have your whole life to be annoyed with women. They don't get any less annoying.
8: Never wanted to STFU - Women again....
9: became hard to get rid of - You know what they say, Women, can't live with them, can't shoot them.
You aren't going to kill the speakers by not running a crossover. The speakers just aren't going to be able to produce any sound in the lower frequencies with the tweeters, and high frequencies going to the larger drivers is going to make them sound like crap.
You filter the frequencies with a crossover to get the drivers in the narrow frequency range it is made to produce to sound good. If not, the tweeters will sound like crap, and woofers will sound horribly muddy.
You can add a capacitor of specific unit to the speaker leads to help filter out unwanted frequencies. It's not the best course of action, but will work somewhat. That is how coaxial and triaxial speakers work. A dedicated passive crossover before the amplification, assuming you have seperate amplifiers for each set of drivers, is better. You will get much better sound quality coming from your drivers this way. It's the only way actually, because if you're not going to use a passive crossover, then you may as well just put some cheap junk in. Doing it half-assed would be like buying a Ferrari with an automatic transmission. Why bother with good drivers if you're not going to do it right.
It was recommended to me for this car to replace the bolts, but not required. I've read plenty now of claims on the net that folks have reused the head bolts on a Civic 1.5L (once obviously.) I would have to order the bolts through Honda as I can't find them at any parts shop and it would be a while. I need a car (or should say, Wifey needs her car back) and it only has to get me through the summer. It has a million miles, though if it weren't for the head gasket, it runs fantastic, and it cost me nothing to acquire. I'll just reuse the bolts.
I did find out that the head gasket had been previously replaced at 93,000 miles.
I also saw (stated previously) no indication of warpage. I worked in quality control for 7 years and went to school for Metrology, which is the science of measurements, so I am pretty sure there is no warpage in the head/block.
Hmm, there was no coolant left in the radiator. No reason to drain.
Yes, just joking because I have both coolant and oil sitting in the area around the cylinders in the block.
Why unbolt the crankshaft? For the timing belt? Timing belt is just incased in a plastic cover and has a tensioner on it to loosen the belt. Mine just slipped off anyways with a little work. Will probably have to loosen the tensioner up to get a new one on though.
I've got a 94 Honda Civic with 185k on it. Just pulled the head half an hour ago due to blown head gasket (I think you folks new I had a blown gasket.)
I paid $20 for the car and it has 185k on it, I'm not taking the head in for anything. I'm just putting a new gasket on and putting it back together.
Everything looks good to me. I did look at the head for level and it looked good to me. Just a quick question of what should I do while the head is off? One cylinder is full of water (about an inch of water) that I need to suck out of there somehow. I cleaned the head and cleaned the block where the gasket will go. Mating surfaces look good. I can see that the intake is filthy and thickly grimey, but I couldn't reach the bolts to remove the intake to clean it well.
What flows around the cylinders in the block? Is it oil? Is it coolant? I don't know, I've got both puddled up there, LOL.
What would you recommend as far as fluid changes? Should I drain and refill coolant and oil and run it for a day (work and back is basically a 40 mile round trip) and change again? Any specific amount of time I should do a 2nd fluid change? Just start it up and run down the road to get it to operating temps and change?
It wasn't too bad. The shop quoted me around $800-900 to change the gasket and timing belt. I can get the gasket kit (all gaskets needed) for $80 and I think the belt is $30. That's quite a savings, and it only took me a few hours to pull it. Most of that time was me standing there scratching my head (no pun intended) trying to come up with a way to get my hand in where a bolt I needed off, hehe.
Oh yeah, I've got 1 issue. I pulled the plugs and could not get one of them broke loose. Anyone have a trick to getting it loose? I'm not sure if there was anti-siege put on them or not when they were changed last, I've only had the car a few months.
My water comes from the ground. It gets pumped out of the ground, runs through the pipes, through the sink, and filters right back into the ground.
For those living in civilization, water comes from the water company. Runs through the pipes, through the sink, and right to the sewage company where it gets treated and back to the water company.
One month countdown to taking the kids to Disneyworld in Orlando, FL. You bet there will be some pictures taken, hundreds if not thousands of them.
Might be difficult to sort out what would be good to show off here. I have around 1300 photos capacity per day and will probably use it. Possibly 2600 capacity since we plan to take the kids back to the resort for an afternoon swim/rest where I can offload my 2 cards to the laptop.
Oh I hate "epic fail". I couldn't believe when I was watching the local news and the news anchor said "epic fail". This isn't news from a little town who happens to have a TV station. This was one of the big major city news in Pittsburgh, PA.
People constantly asking/saying to me.... What? You're not on Facebook? How could you not be on Facebook?
People constantly asking/saying to me.... What? You don't have a cell phone? How can you possibly not have a cell phone?
And the last ones are.... Every time the person I am working with that day leaves the control room, their damn cell phone goes off. Then, for the next hour that they are away, it beeps every 30 seconds. The control room I work in is about 40 feet off the groundfloor. They are lucky they don't find their damn cell phones in a million pieces at the bottom of the steps.
Tis all I pay for a computer. My last computer which is now 5 years old cost $500. Only cost me another $50 a few years later to get a gfx that I could run games with (which has since blown up on me so I'm back to no gaming.)
If you are only going to spend $500 to upgrade that particular computer, you may as well just go buy a new one for $500.
