Download DXTweak and play around with the axis. That's what I used to "fix" the clutch when I was using one.

Where is the "my gfx card blew up and the PC is too old to bother with replacing so I can't handle LFS at more than 13 FPS at the moment" option?

Or the "the only populated servers in my time zone are drift, drag, demo, and cruise and I don't want to sit on a server by myself" option?

Yes, headlights have an adjustment. Adjusting a poor designed headlight so that it is pointing up in the air is not going to help said poorly designed headlight.

To get an idea, take a flashlight and shine it on the floor so that you can see ahead of where you are walking. Now take the flashlight and cover the top half of it with something and adjust the flashlight to see up ahead. Can't do it because you are now pointing the flashlight above the ground rather than at the ground.

I'm thinking you are confused over what I said. The headlights sucked. They lit the path 5 feet in front of the car and beyond 5 feet, there was nothing. Really crappy headlight design. Most headlights shine in front of the car and the light output tapers off the further away in front. These lights had a sharp cutout as in no light shining further than 5 feet ahead of the car. (note, maybe 5 feet is a bit of an exaggeration, but it surely wasn't far enough to see anything ahead on the road, but it really wasn't much farther than just over the hood that you could see the road from the driver's seat.)

Speaking of "not at night or in the rain," one thing to point out is, you should also check it out at night. My last car I bought I found out how horrible the lights were about a week later after the first time driving in the dark. They were absolutely horrible lights on my Nissan Altima.

I ran over a dead deer in the middle of the road because I never saw it. The headlights on the Altima sharply cut off about 5 feet ahead of the bumper. There was no transition, it was a case of "can see somewhat" to a sharp line where "can't see anything". At 60 mph, when there's suddenly a large animal lying in the middle of the road that you cannot see at all until you are 5 feet from it, you are hitting it no matter what it is.

Folks at work are loving this. They are going home left and right. I don't know how you can get a job, then constantly take advantage of every time they offer you to go home. I can barely afford to take a paid vacation day because it cuts my overtime pay down to regular pay and these guys are pleading "Pick me, I'll go home..." every time there is a slowdown with the auto market.

Toyota has shut down 8 assembly lines. GM states that they lose $50,000 per hour of line shutdown. Don't know what Toyota claims, but times that GM number by 8 lines and a 24/7 operation. That's some serious loss of cash.

Pennsylvania here with annual state inspection. You can get away with some stuff unless it is a dealership shop. Typically brake and tire wear must be within spec, exhaust must be intact with no leaks or rusted out, suspension and steering components they check for wear, and all lights and indicators must work. States are divided up smaller yet by counties, in which some have emissions testing and some don't. I don't need emissions testing done, but 60 miles south of me does.

An independent mechanic with a state inspection license may tell you when something is close to failing and still pass it expecting you to get it fixed. A dealership shop or large shop will not pass it.

My rotors were pretty chewed up. I get free inspections by the dealer. It did not pass. They would have passed at an independent shop because they were just scored badly, not thin and out of spec. I also picked up a slow leak in a brand new tire which by the time I arrived at the shop, the low air pressure indicator (as if that's accurate) was lit. They did check and found a screw in the tire. No problem, the tire shop fixed it for nothing.

There are also plenty of rip-off shops. When I was a kid, my father was not a car guy. His cars failed inspection every year for exhaust. What do non-car people do when they are in the shop and fail inspection? They tell the same shop to fix it (I say, OK, I'll be back, then go home and fix it...)

Makes me curious though, what they would do if a real 4x4 had those stupid air pressure sensors in the wheels and the owner chose to put larger tires on for off-roading and didn't run the same air pressure. The indicator on the dash would be lit, yet a lower air pressure could be perfectly fine. I use to run 23 and 25 psi in my 31x10.50 BFG tires on my old Toyota because any more than that and it was way too much pressure and wore the center down. Recommended per the vehicle was 32 psi based on stock tires, not the 3 inch bigger tire I had. That probably would light the indicator if there were sensors in the wheels like my current vehicle.

Best vehicle I've had was an 88 Toyota 4Runner I bought in 1996 with 105,000 miles. Kept it for 8 years selling it in 2004 with 189,000 miles. Nothing was wrong with it. Other than normal brake pads and tires, I replaced the shocks, 1 ball joint, and the clutch. Oh, I also put an $8 seal kit in the clutch master cylinder, forgot about that. I inspected the timing chain and it was even still good at 189,000 miles (normal to replace anywhere between 150-200k.) All said, my maintenance cost disregarding brake pads and tires, was less than $300 for 8 years.

Judging by milage isn't very good. Previous to that Toyota, I bought brand new back when I was young and it was junk in 60,000 miles. Currently I have 48,000 miles on my purchased new Ford and I've put more money into it than I put in the last 4 cars I owned, all run to over 170k miles.

Rust is what gets you on a good car. But even then, when you have near 200k miles, you just slap some patch in the rust hole and carry on. Who cares what it looks like at 200k miles. If its more than just body panel rust, then it isn't a good car to begin with...

Not if you look at them directly. Do you ever look to the side of the track at some marker to aid in knowing where to brake? Wouldn't be much helpful if it was all blurred from motion.

Side mirrors show the same image as the center mirror anyways, so don't worry about it. Unless I use a ridiculously unrealistic FOV, I can't see the side mirrors either and have never used them in the 5 years I've raced on LFS.

Then again, I'm so slow, I have no reason to use any mirrors, because if I want to see other cars, they are all up ahead of me, not behind

One point to note, you said the server said "1:07" and you said you ran 1 lap at 1:17. If this was lap 1, then obviously you are not going to drive a 1:07 lap time since you are starting from a standstill.

A lot of servers do say "must drive xx to be on our server". I certainly don't drive elitist times, especially since I haven't raced much in the last 2 years, yet I've never been kicked from a server for not meeting the elitist time criteria. I haven't seen anything automatic that will kick you if you don't meet these times. Perhaps an admin will watch you and kick you if you are driving like an idiot, but I've yet to see anything automatic.

Google maps has gotten a lot less resolution in my area. I use to be able to see my house, now it's just a blob.

I like Bing maps rather than street view in google maps. Then again, I'm usually looking around where I live out in the middle of nowhere, where there is no street view. Bird's Eye view at Bing maps is pretty cool.

When I was 15 years old, I walked into my buddy's living room (whom happens to be Brett Michaels', ala Poison, cousin) and he told me I had to sit in front of the stereo and listen to something (ok, we did smoke something first...)

It was the first time I had heard Pink Floyd and it was Comfortably Numb. 23 years later and that song is still my all time favorite song, David Gilmour my all time favorite guitarist, and after hearing the live Pulse version of which I have on CD, VHS, and DVD, my all time favorite guitar solo.

Now 23 years later, I find myself with an electric guitar Wifey bought me for Christmas and I am half way through learning that song and solo. Started playing around with it this past weekend. That is making me smile (axe sitting on my lap plugged in as I type this.)
