I think the best way around this is the Test Patch. Players download and use the test patch for their own responsibility, agreeing to the fact that not everything would be accessible in it. We could get a new test patch, with all the WIP graphics, strictly for testing purposes only, FE and SO could be "locked"/greyed out temporarily, until they are ready for testing. Multiplayer/hotlap modes/replays etc. would be locked in the test patch, and only single player testing would be possible. This way, with a fully incompatible patch, no touch would be needed for the master server, stats, etc. (at the full public release, I guess a great stats reset would be necessary anyways, but that's a later story ).
I think this would be a great way to get around the legal perspective.
Awesome! Years back, I was (who wasn't) wondering about night racing, how great would that be and stuff... and now it's coming closer and closer. Great progress!
I can't think of how hard it is to make night lighting and shadows look real. I'm thinking of, for example, how would shadows cast behind a single car from multiple light sources (like on the first KY screenshot) - you know, that strange effect when something has that "layered" kind of shadow when in front of a LED strip (better demonstration of what I mean: https://i.redd.it/3ypgb3l21a021.jpg). Will this be a thing? I have no idea if that's a long time to code/create - maybe you plan having these group of lights count as a single light source in the lighting engine, and maybe that would be the right choice right now to speed up the public (or test) release, dunno. Sorry for my long(er) contemplation
Keep it up!
The account you posted with doesn't have any S1/2/3 License attached to it. Is it the account you bought S2 with? If not, you should log in using your S2 account and see if it works. If it is, you should prepare your proof of purchase and contact LFS devs so they can help you: https://www.lfs.net/mailus
This page is always there for you: https://www.lfs.net/shop/licenseselect
after buying a legit license, use the same download link I gave you in my previous post.
Great league idea! It fills the Wednesday gap in LFS events very well, and I think no oval championship is active at the moment (correct me if I'm wrong), so it's unique. I hope more players join, I'll see if I can participate someday.
If you want to attend some organized racing events, check the Racing Calendar: https://www.lfs.net/leagues/calendar
There are a couple of great events with high attendance throughout the week, but make sure you read the rules of the event you'd interested in
I use Chrome and I don't have Flash installed separately. Chrome, by default, blocks the execution of flash codes, but it can be allowed in the upper-left corner, clicking the lock icon.
Thanks for the detailed report full of technical description. While I don't fully understand all of it, it's always interesting to read it through. Also, it gives a slight insight of what you guys are doing behind-the-scenes and working hard on: something not everyone has a clear image of. Good luck with the development, keep it up!
Unfortunately, I missed the last race as well, due to being away from home for a longer period. However, I enjoyed the series, we had some great combos. Congrats Unite!!
Your first thing to do in order to get better is to calm down. You can't improve your lap times if you are too stressed or upset. Practice makes perfect. If that helps, check the Hotlap Analyzer on LFSWorld to see what others do differently (for example, the gear others use in THAT specific turn, or if they lift throttle or not). Also, curious, what setup are you using?
Great idea, Rejekt! That would be awesome and events would get much more attention and gain more reach. Especially if it was placed on the main menu screen. LFS sites and forums would still be the places to go if one wants to get all the details about upcoming events.
That's a valid point - I really like that page and think that it is / would be a great "hub" for an overview of racing leagues. However, it needs some moderating and cleaning up: a huge list of events looks good of course, but I found many, so called "leagues" on that page which aren't real leagues and haven't had a single event - or it's just a fake event because someone had the mood to try creating an unreal and unorganized entry on the list. Also, I know revamping Leagues section isn't a high priority thing to do right now, I think the racing calendar, which is the most interesting and synthetic overview, should be on the main page (maybe in a more compact format so players can easily see which days are active and click if they are interested on a given day). Also, something like an RSS feed or exporting/linking public calendar formats would help a lot (for example, I would LOVE having a separate LFS events calendar in my Google Calendar, which I actively use every day).
EDIT: I also started posting individual events on /r/LiveforSpeed, hoping I can "advertise" or spread news of these fun organized events we have.
