It was never stated that the screenshots we see are the final versions. That's why it's called a 'Progress Report'! If the work was finished, I'm sure devs wouldn't just sit on the new version
Welcome Phil! If you need any help, be sure to ask on forums (in the Technical assistance section), we will be more than willing to help. Enjoy LFS, see you online!
Any news on this? I remember I planned to create an infobox for all the tracks, maybe revamp the pages, but lost motivation because of this issue... also, it wouldn't really be possible to create such things with images, when the syntax is ignored
I enjoyed this so much.. great track with a car I'm not familiar with. I was chilling on the 6th place, like 15 laps left, and then boom, "LAGGING BADLY" and got specced... all that with stable 79-80ms ping. I'm mad
Tried your server and did some laps - hell that layout is intense with a faster car like the FXR! It's a ton of fun. Your InSim is spot on, fun to use. Also it's great to see you are still updating it
This server needs more attention and players, it's a lot of fun
As I did not see anyone posting specifics, you can disable the camera shaking completely by setting all 'Acceleration shifts viewpoint' sliders to 0 (to the left), in Options - View. You SHOULD try advanced options, because you miss out on too much if you ignore them all
I would strongly disagree about all cars feeling the similar. Of course, it would be great to have more diversity, but saying the cars are all the same is just not true. Have you tried breaking some records, pushing yourself to the max, spending some time on a car/track combo and getting used to the car completely? Well, I don't really think that's possible after 2 days of gameplay. Camera/View options: the view / camera options are customizable. Have you visited Options - View while in a car? FOV, X, Y and Z offsets are all available and changeable (separately for every car).
As for the graphics and lighting, the developers are making great progress and a huge graphical update is getting closer. Check out the two published screenshot of the new graphics here: https://www.lfs.net/attachment/184311 and https://www.lfs.net/attachment/184314 . Comparison view between the old and new one: https://cdn.knightlab.com/libs/juxtapose/latest/embed/index.html?uid=2703f5ca-8e92-11e8-b263-0edaf8f81e27 Devs are planning to post screenshots and a progress report in August. I hope you'll still be around here and check it out
I hope you don't take my reply offensive, either. It's just a pity that you give up after 2 days and leave.
Hi Michael and welcome to LFS! Feel free to join us in some casual leagues, for example 'FM GTi Thursday', 'Fox Friday', or the 'Rony's Tuesday Fun Race' tonight (we are racing with UF1 this time )! There are some great public servers for racing, as well. Most online activity happen during the evenings.
(still an issue. I think it is quite a huge one as the complete manual looks messy right now - all the carefully edited and scaled images on pages are messed up)
Hi there! I just opened up LFSmanual, but the first thing that I noticed is that the main page is a bit messed up. The LFS logo and the handbook image seems to ignore the set alignment, which is 'right'. I noticed this on a different page as well, on Version History, where the timeline image should be centered but isn't. Thumbnail pictures are NOT affected (as far as I can tell, for example on Tracks), but standalone pictures and images are. Has anything changed mediawiki-wise, or maybe it's just a bug?
EDIT: after some more investigation, the image sizes are ignored, too. Good example: Blackwood, but you can see this on the main page as well.
I don't want to drive this topic off-topic, but that thing about FE. As much as I (personally) like it, we all know what it's like right now and would definitely need some improvements. Last week, when we raced on Fern Bay (182nd RTFR), I thought exactly the same as lucaf here (highlighted in bold). It's really a pity there are many corners where we cross the white line - not with 2 wheels, but like with the width of 2-3 cars (for example the turn near the beach and the start/finish straight of Green). It would be so much challenging to restrict the racing area this way (would probably need a Fern Bay PB- and WR-wipe on LFSW). Maybe this calls for a FE remake, which is not really a priority right now, and that's of course acceptable. Just wanted to mention that I completely agree with the point of lucaf. Looking forward to the teasers, I really like what I see on the last two screenshots with the new graphics, great job!
You don't need to register for Fox Fridays. Just join the server in time when there's an event. Oh and join TeamSpeak because it is required (the qualifying is a one-shot qualy and everyone is called in on TS to do their hotlap).
EDIT: TS address: ts.fragmaster.net
Mainly to @Victor, as he's the web developer as far as I know .
I was wondering if there's a way to get an always synchronised and up-to-date feed of the Racing Calendar here: https://www.lfs.net/leagues/calendar . The idea came from browsing the features of the moderator interface of the new Reddit (to be exact, I was managing /r/LiveforSpeed). It is now possible to add sidebar widgets, and one of the types is Calendar. Thought it would be cool to show the upcoming events on the sidebar, so more players could see them. It could retrieve the fresh data from LFS.net. This Reddit widget only supports Google Calendar ID, though (for example [email protected] - this one is a motorsports calendar for the rest of the year).
Also thought of being able to Export the events on the racing calendar page, but the problem with that is when you would export, it would export the current snapshot of the calendar as a file (.ics or whatever format), and if new events get added, it couldn't be synchronised. I'm no expert on this topic, nor I could say a thing about how to develop this to work, just thought it would be cool to have this feature. This may be useful (Google Calendar API page): https://developers.google.com/calendar/overview
Attached an example of the calendar sidebar widget
