Quote from Mackie The Staggie :Nah, there just making 270 degree left turns.

That's where the mini roundabout came from, just turn left until you're at the desired exit (at least in lhd countries anyway :P ).

Quote from duke_toaster :Re : MS train sim

I haven't been bothered to get any mods (I find it sad that the original content is mainly US centric but that's what you get if Mike Rowe Soft make it). I can find MS Train Sim new (in the Xplosive release) on play.com for £7 (14 USD) but that's a site that doesn't do any dealings with the US. It will run on a typewriter and is fun if you like that sort of thing.

Thank you for reminding me, I'm going hunting for a London Underground mod

It depends on the scenery if it runs on a typewriter :P The game engine isn't very good. I have the Rotterdam metro network, that scenery even slows down on a dual core E8400 with 2GB ram and it still looks crap compared to todays standards

There's a cheap package service (SelektVracht or something like that) over here that tries to apply .zip compression to physical packages. I once received a package that was only half the size when it arrived

The worst thing i've heard was a package with school books being delivered at a friend. He wasn't at home, so the guy thought it was a nice idea to leave the package in the wheelie bin shelter.
The wheelie bins were emptied before he came home. You can probably guess where the books were.

Quote from tristancliffe :Harder on the clutch, and much more likely to roll backwards as you transfer from footbrake to throttle. It also means that you have to have your brake lights on, dazzling those behind you.

Only morons leave their foot on the footbrake after they've come to a stop. No need. Ever.

So you don't like the sweet vibrating sensation caused by warped brake discs?

It's called a Kamm's Circle
But you can see roughly the same in the forces view. Bright green is the maximum, red is traction loss.

@ Shotglass - If you slowly release the clutch with no throttle the car stalls - Malaysian engineering ftw...

Actually your car has a Mitsubishi drivetrain

Just remember there's always someone throwing the bomb. Bombs don't kill people on their own. They are just a result of people being too stupid to live together peacefully.

The photo's aren't staged, just the storyline is fake. Here's another guy who did the trip.
You're not allowed to touch anything, especially metal parts. Basically everything facing the reactor is still very radioactive.

Not really that unusual. You can visit the place yourself, there are organised trips to Pripyat. And she did that too, without motorcycle. The motorcyle pics are shot outside the restricted area.
Some more pictures here.

Quote from dougie-lampkin :Is it me or do the wheels look a little small? At least get a proper 50cc scooter, you can drive those at 16 too. Heck, at 16 I can drive anything less than 125cc, surely it's the same all over the EU?

Not everywhere, here in the Netherlands you can ony drive a <50cc moped when you're 16. Anything above 50cc will require a motorcycle licence, which you can only get if you're 18+. When you get your motorcycle licence before the age of 21, you can only drive a <25KW bike for 2 years.

The headlight button is similar to the signal/flash function on real car's headlights. I'm actually not sure if that function actually turns on all the lights on a normal car. I don't think so, but I never actually noticed it.

That g-force could be the "shudder" you see on the onboard camera during the start. It's pretty violent, but very short. They probably didn't apply a good noise filter to prevent such "false" (well they aren't false, but they are not what you're looking for) readings.

Oh come on guys, golden wire wheels on a crappy MG They probably cost more than the whole car

Quote from Bladerunner :What's funny about wire wheels on an MG?? Never seen an MGBGT?
(OK, I _KNOW_ the ZR isn't anything like an MGBGT, but it still carries the MG badge!)

That's like mounting 32" tractor wheels to a Lamborghini Gallardo, just because they also make tractors.

Quote from Dark Elite :Each .eng file is around 200-300KB, and I was referring to these having to be stored and distributed.

Sam

They probably contain the generated audio samples to make it easier to use them. But you don't need to transfer the generated samples, you only need to transfer the modifiers (slider values). The base samples are the same for everyone, so the generated samples can be reconstructed by applying the modifiers to the base samples.

Quote from Dark Elite :Quite apart from the unacceptably huge scope for idiocy, I'd be concerned about the LFSW bandwidth too, something that hasn't been mentioned.

Definitely not a viable one, this.

Sam

It hasn't been mentioned because it's the equivalent of being connected to a server for less than a second
In the worst case (all 24 sliders being a float), you're talking about a massive 96 byte per car. A TCP/IP header is bigger than that.

The unit on the bottom is called a receiver. An amplifier usually doesn't have much buttons (tone controls are the Antichrist of the hifi world), some don't even have a volume control (volume is controlled by an external input selector). A receiver is usually crammed with features and provides input selection etc.
