Hi

Ran the latest version an last nights LFS: GTR League

http://www.conedodgers.co.uk/results/s2d1r7.html is the first D1 race

I am told by the racers that the pit stop information is wrong

1) 3 racers stop in 0 time
2) some of the reported items are wrong, the stats say minor yet the racers say their stop said minor, and major

I will try to go through the replay myself and check but that can be a long job

Edit:

Also just been told that their is another slight problem with the produced starts

In the settings section (First table) it produced "No obligatory pit-stop" when in fact the server is set to pitstop required

Quote from Scawen :

Anyway, about displaying the admin status to other guests - there are two ways to do this.

1) Allow only admins to see who else is an admin.

2) Allow all guests to see who is an admin.

If there is only 1 one possible option i would go with 1)

But a cfg setting /showadmin yes or no with a default no, where no does 1) and yes does 2) would be better.

http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?p=386549#post386549 is also a great idea

Many thanks

Quote from Rooble :Had it ever occurred to you that perhaps someone might have actually lied? Dear god no!

That or your password is ultra weak, or better yet perhaps one of your trusted admins went and handed it out.

Lie, no not an admin. However if i could see who was admin i could tell if they are telling the truth.

As to the password, as long as you are aware of my last house name, my wifes middle name in reverse and the day my dad was born you can work it out.

Quote from smith :birder, regarding pit and grid starts, I'll try to think about it, but I'd like to point out there is no way to determine a player time for any given moment.
About the template request, I don't really understand what prevents you from basing your web site page on the template file itself. You might want to change the template file extension to make dreamweaver recognise it as a hypertext, if that is a problem.
Anyways, introducing an additional template nesting level would create nothing but a mess in the program and its config file, I think.

I also use a template in Dreamweaver to make site wide changes and although my template looks fine and yours looks fine in DW if they are put together it causes mayhem.

Not to worry, its just that a header, [content], footer is how i do it with perl scripts

thanks for the answer

Quote from Lotesdelere :Actually anyone logged in as Admin is very powerfull in LFS because he can use all of the commands, even the server settings ones. It would be usefull to have (at least) two levels of in-game server administration:

Admin: can use all commands
Marshall: can only use commands such as kick, ban, spectate, pitlane, p_xx, rcm, rcc

The restart, qualify and end commands might be given on purpose to some marshalls by the admin(s).

I also agree with Birder that there should be a way for admins only to see who is logged in as admin/marshall.

Quote from FL!P :There's already a way, I think: admins cannot be kicked, or banned. So these buttons aren't available for them in the connections list.

Agreed you cannot vote to kick or ban but you can still use /ban /kick against admins if you are an admin.

This means that a password hacker could /ban a real server admin which seems a bit stupid. The real server admin (owner) would have to get someone to /unban him (Or use ban editor) to get on his own server and then change the password. To me its all backwards.

Another way would be that the cfg has a list of admins

/admin username, username, username

rather than a password, this would mean more work but it would certainly sort the problem

Also the buttons in the connection list are available they just dont work, which means you start a vote each time you try one to find out whos admin and whos not

I asked in the main forum

Quote from Eleanor SpeedGT :Well you can ask in server too.

Am i missing something, how do i ask the server?

If you mean ask a server admin, i am the main server admin so that would not help.

Quote from spiderbait90 :i dont think making admins more obvious would help. Sometimes we just go in "under-cover" with a different name to see how things are going, and then people often dont realise that you are and admin, and continue wrecking and ramming. So about the different colour or the buttons not being there -1 from me. If you reallly really need an admin, just ask and usually the admin will change into their normal name and deal with it. At least from the servers i am in thats what we do anyway.

I am the main admin on my servers, so dont see much point of asking for one.

I have 8 admins on the CD servers but when the race in question was restarted there were 3 on the server so i did ask them all if they restarted the race and they all said they did not.

There was no vote so the means that someone else did it, but who?.

There has to be a way for a main admin to tell who else is logged on as an admin so he can see whats going on or people who give out passwords to their mates will always be about.

By having the connection list change to another colour would work but i agree it may need to be available on admins screens only.

But on the other hand if an admin is to police a server should players not be aware, a bit like the real police as most of us "dont speed when we are aware the police speed trap is about" but may well do if they are in an un-marker car

I am not trying to catch people, i just want to be able to find out who is logged on as admin.

Quote from axus :You can't try it in the first place - the button's just not on the list.

I agree that you cant vote to kick or ban admin but the buttons are there

The problem is that you have to test each person by pressing kick or ban and if it works you have a vote in action against them if they are not admin.

I just tried it and it caused havoc.

It would be good if the button was not there or a different colour if the person is logged on as admin.

Does anyone else have any other ideas to tell who is logged on as admin please.

Thanks

Hi Smith

Tested version test2 and the results look fine, the pit information now works

Possible improvements

1) The Start Order table could do with a column giving details where the player started from (Grid or Pit) or even the time they started after the start of the race. (Grid would be 0.00)

In the test i did 4 drivers joined from the pit but there is no way of telling.

2) Have a html template with a special [lfsstats] tag so it uses up to the [lfsstats] tag as the page header, and after the tag as a footer when building the page.

The [lfsstats] tag would be simply be replaced by the xml templated output

This would make it more simple to put the lfsstats output into a webpage and the html template could be editied using a normal (dreamweaver) application.

Keep up the great work

Does anyone have a method of finding out who is logged on a server as admin?

Thanks

We had someone restart a race on lap 8 last night but could not find out who.

We think someone may have the admin password but would like to catch them to ask why and give them a ban.

If we change the password then we will never find out.

We need something that shows who is logged on as an admin

Perhaps an A in the connection list or change the colours of the text in the connection list on admins.

Quote from Macfox :#1 and #2 can be acheived already with inSIM.

I've added #1.

#2 Has already been discussed before, if my memory serves me right. It was heavily debated, particularily on the point it would cause more problems with idle players, just sitting on the grid and not racing. Not an easy problem to solve. But definely something an inSim mod could do, by adding the necessary logic to spectate everyone after each race and then have an auto restart of some sort.

IMO, I would like as many items as possible in the standard server rather than insim but i understand what you mean.

As to 2) We get grid sleepers now so maybe a restart after x mins but with a rcm warning or even a countdown before it happens.

Thanks for adding 1)

Hi Smith

Just did a 10 lap race full race using the test version

At the start i got some sort of ACK packet message but missed it, but run it again and it did not appear

The stats look fine except 12 out of the 20 players pitted (1 twice) yet in the pit stops section only 11 were recorded and 6 have no details including the one who pitted twice

Cannot see any reason why

I will do another test race later when CD2 is full

We have already added a tyre barrier to stop this on our servers

1) Autokick after x minutes

We need an option that automatically kicks spectators who are just saving their place

As our server is often full we now get players who logon and have a couple of races then spectate for several hours as if they are reserving thier place. Even when you ask them in chat why they do it they dont answer as they are AFK.

On one day we had 6 people doing this so only 17 could ever enter the race. I kick them anyway and the places a filled up with players who want to race but its a pain having to do it.

I was thinking of a setting that kicked players with no action for X minutes so say this was set to 60, at 60 minutes if they had not been in a race they are kicked automatically, after all they can rejoin.

2) Restart after x seconds

On a full server when a race ends you get this constant "Shift+R" restart messages until their are enough votes, we need a setting that restarts automatically after X seconds once a race finished
