I will be really disapointed if this does not go ahead, I really thought that the size of the community would ensure that there were enough people wanting to come along to this. Come on the chance to meet Bob/Ben, Ben/Bob Smith in the flesh and to potentially have the possibility to say that you whooped him at karting 'be an LFS legend.....'

Also, even if this does not go ahead as planned I will be going carting and staying in Newcastle that weekend, family in tow for spectator morale support and to keep me inline.

I have taken the time to convince my wife of this so I'm going anyway

Quote from Lateralus :If you have this thought twice, just don't click the Post button. Spare us the spam, please.

Misery guts

1. Laptop works just fine, if you have broadband then online will be ok.
2. Steel your mums credit card (no don't just joking), get someone you know to pay it by card/paypal and give them the money.
3. Surely your broadband is 'open' all the time and using it doesn't cost any extra?
4. Online play is better than most if not all other sims that i've tried, although I must admit during Aussie hours the servers can be quite empty . Dang just been online with Race 07 and there are a total of 6 people online.

You will not regret getting S2 in my humble opinion and don't listen to Lateralus, post whatever you like, he's just peeved cos he's run out of bevvy

That is a very nice set up mate, I am extremely jealous. Does the air conditioning work? lol. Did you rob the dash from a real car or can you buy such a thing.

Also your rig may be nice but your taste in beer sucks

Wecome to all the new folks that have joined since my last welcome post.

Nateo 147, just jump on any server really, most of the time the racing is clean and friendly on S2.

Some racing servers I would recommend. There are also cruise and drift servers which I don't frequent.

1. Halfords Racing [HR] servers of course . We are currently developing, should be really good when Teedot gets it finished.
2. Cone Dodgers servers for GTR Racing
3. CTRA Single Seater 1 for open wheelers, great points system.
4. CTRA 1 for tin tops, again great points system
5. Dead Men Racing, Forced cockpit wiew (I like), you need to be over 65 or have a cronic illness to enter
6. [SR] Dash for cash, great fun for a quick blast
7. DSR (Dark Side Racing)
8. Redline Racing servers are also quite popular

Never mind an S2 license! I would want a doctorate in LFS for answering the questions....

Maybe you should state that it is open to demo users only?

Good luck to all/any entrants.

I can assure you there are loads of old gits racing/dithering on LFS. I think we have about 6 in our team over 30 and a couple over 40.......of course I still feel 25, act 18 and look 62

Jarmenia,

Just go online and do not worry about causing accidents, the very fact you are concerned about this shows that you are a thoughtfull driver. Just pick low populated server to begin with and let people know you are new to online. You will never be branded a wrecker unless you are intentionally wrecking people.

Get online! it's were the fun is

Yes I have it, it is ok if you are into GTR2 etc. The real life cars and tracks are nice. You'll need a high end pc to run it on its fullest settings though.......the online random server play is simply terrible, much worse than lfs demo. No doubt there are organised private leagues were the racing is much better.

I also don't like steam it has always caused me problems. There is an option, however, to avoid steam and load it for offline use only.

All in all I have played it for a couple of hours then got fed up with it. I prefer GTR2, but as with all the other sims I've tried it just doesn't 'feel' right and I end up back with LFS.

If you admire GTR2 then you will like this sim, if you don't like GTR2 then you won't like this. It's still full price so a bit expensive. Try downloading the demo and give it a shot

Also this site is good for mods etc. http://www.nogripracing.com

Quote from Dave_HRT :Hi Guys..

Loved the demo and brought myself a S2 license... Such a great game, i dont get to play a heap, but hey once things quiet down i will try to get in some decent practice..

Is there anywhere to download a good setup pack for all tracks and cars as playing around with setups isnt my forte at the moment..

Any way i will be racing single and multi as much as i can, just to learn the ropes, then hope to join a league if i can prove that i have the speed and paitience to compete with some of you absolute freaks out there!!

Here is a pic of my G25 setup.. Hope to see some of you online!!

Dave

Welcome to S2, try http://setupfield.teaminferno.hu/ for set ups, lots of fast sets in there mate or just ask people online.

Quote from igciperfectdark :Just saying HI, I'm new to the forum and I've only recently purchased the S2 license. I'm just trying to figure out how to calm the sensitivity down on the XBOX 360 controller. It seems to be a little too twitchy, not sure if this is the right place to post the question.
Thanks in advance.

I don't use that controller but this link should help. http://www.lfsforum.net/showth ... light=xbox+360+controller

Thanks for your replies Victor and Karl , I am pretty sure it is my end that needs to get fixed, now to sit on the phone for half an hour to eventually get through to someone at AOL that can't fix it .

I'll be back online soon though that is for sure

Quote from tristancliffe :I'm willing to concede that my figures for Wind farm energy COSTS > Energy Gained are based on figures of about 10 years old, and as such are probably a bit wrong now. I haven't done any research on the matter recently, and you know what it's like - you find some facts and tend to believe them as fact for years. Finding the information to research from is rather more difficult these days however, as a lot of information is, for some reason, hidden from public view. Makes me wonder why.

But I do agree with the current solar power situation, and I do agree with the need for more work on nuclear power, be it fission or (ideally) fusion.

Due to the recent huge investement in offshore windfarm construction the the energy company operators now have extensive recently gathered data to evaluate, with regard to costs vs energy.

The associated development costs can now probably be accurately predicted in terms of capital and operational expenditure for any given project?

I agree with what you say about Nuclear and Solar Power, also there are plans to develop subsea wave hubs, using energy provided by the sea to create power that cabled to the UK National grid.
