My you really are angry the_angry_angel. I have to say I do like your style, best post I've read in ages. You sound just like our IT manager
Anyway on topic, I've been thinking about getting my own server for a while, so I can have a play around with Insim etc.
My question is how complicated is it for a complete beginner (not going to call myself a noob) to a) run a server? and b) programme the server to do what I want it to do?
I have done some coding many moons ago in my student days, pascal and C++, jees even some hexidecimal stuff if I remember rightly.
Thanks for any input, tbh I don't care what the reply is I'm of to get a server from Storm right now, if its good enough for Kev not to moan about then is must be ****ing great
As far as I am aware all materials have thermal conductivity properties that can be determined and calculated.
Please don't make me get my books out I've got the day off work and I'm buggered if I'm doing any bleedin engineering on my day off. Well unless you want to pay me my going rate lol. I'm sure there will be some engineering graduates that would like to answer you in no more than 3000 words??
Anyway i'm going back to the post that talks about how many 5 year old kids you could take out at once
I've had not a lot infact nothing to do with racing, but I used to work in a Production Plant (many moons ago) that manufactured large cables. We used to use thermal imaging cameras (Infra red) for measuring the temperature of the extruded polyethylene, high and low density. I would imagine sticking a few of these little devils on the wheel arch, or even on the wheel itself would do the trick, well thats what I would do if I was given the task of monitoring tyre temperatures anyway
Edit, should read the whole thread before posting, also if you know the heat transfer characteristics of the rubber, you could calculate the inner temperatures from the surface temperature at any given moment.
Rumour control has it that Gentlefoot has signed a pre-contract agreement with THeJOKeRz and is changing his name to G3ntl3f00t, surely this cannot be true, the poor chap has lost his mind, he's started a new challenge the GFDC, please tell us this isn't true mate
I take it the license system has been reset, again? went to have a race and I'm no longer licensed. meh I've only done over 2500 laps on CD1, never mind I'll go on the practise server yet again.
How do you know how tight Fusion Ducks arse is....you dodgy character (yes I know he's joined Mercury now).
Anway I thought as you were such a wonderful chap you were inviting everyone to this meet and paying all expenses as well? What d'ya mean we have to pay ourselves?
I've had second thoughts on this Bob, I realise that I am an old git and remember almost having to call an ambulance after my last 30 min Karting session (OK slight exaggeration :tilt. If you wouldn't mind mate could you please change my vote to the shortest practise and race session.
My LFS team needs me and I would not like to have to make them all buy black ties for my funeral and leave them short of racers

I wonder why they don't yet have a forum on their site?
Paying a subscription in my opinion will get them nowhere when their competition lets you race for, well lets face it, basically nothing after you've bought the Sim.
Good luck to them and no doubt I will give it a try, but it will need to be the complete dogs bollocks for me to pay a subscription for it
I've voted for the longest stint. I just know I'm not going to be able to move my arms after this, so someone will have to lift my pint to my mouth for me if you don't mind
Holy smoke Gentlefoot, I would love it if you joined us, we have some really good laughs on vent, most of us spend far too much time on LFS, infact I would put the red carpet out for you and hire you ten hookers for the evening as a welcome gift
No, Sam Sam orange peel, both default and Race s suck, the people that tell you that sets only give you a couple of tenths advantage are talking rubbish.
My advice is to get a fast set for the respective track you are on from someone using the same controller as you then adjust it to suit.
This will take seconds of your lap times not tenths. Well this is just my opinion anyway Good luck
