i wanna hear how
Quote from mrodgers :Indecently while roaming around looking for cars, I ended up in the big city, Pittsburgh to be exact, with my little 100HP Honda. I thought I was going to die! Everyone else around me is flying around at 80 mph and I've got to try to accelerate and merge into traffic while I can barely do 60, let alone try to accelerate up to that point in less than a minute. I still don't know how you folks over there can run with your little cars.

I comfortably cruse at 90MPH in my 60BHP Escort, probably slightly less as it has a tendency to misfire. If you can't from a car with just shy of double that figure, you're doing something wrong. Agreed it takes me a while to get to 90, but I can hit 65-70 in 3rd gear inside of 20 seconds.

Also, get the Bora. If the suspension is anything like the Passat/A4 expect issues as the bushes seem to fail for fun (I've replaced a lot in the last 3 months), but the engine will run forever and should you request more power, they handle it will with minor mods.
Quote from Klutch :HAHAHAH OH GOD.

You go off raging about my car (Which by the way, i haven't mentioned for quite a while, other people mentioned it..) and then go on to say you wrote off 3 cars in 4 months?!?!?

Whoa, thats a fair effort, please never drive on the roads of australia, i fear for my LIFE.

thats not rage

THIS IS RAGEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

all 3 where accidents ( of which where actually not my fault, 2 on the same strech of road )

i'd drive through austrailia no bother.

atleast their you dont get drifters rallying into the side of your car 30 mph then tryign to do a runner and failing epic style.

When are you children going to take it to PM. It's turned into a bunch of whiny schoolgirls in here....

And Logitek, nah, I didn't exactly like the Jetta better than the Mazda. I'd buy the Mazda in a heartbeat. I'm just not liking the rust issue on what is essentially still like new cars.

Weird issue with the VW was, when I went to climb in it, I thought a girl must have driven it last. The seat was pulled way up and I could barely fit down between the steering wheel and seat back. I pushed the seat back away from the wheel and climbed in. At that point, I realized I was fine with my reach to the steering wheel, but my feet were miles away from the pedal. I had to push the seat way up to fully press the clutch pedal, but then couldn't get out of the car when we got back from the drive. I can't believe how far the pedals are away from what would be a normal seating position away from the wheel for me. It was really weird.

Some paint issues on the VW beings it's black and full of spiderwebbing, but I guess nothing a buffer couldn't handle. I assume it had been wrecked and fixed up recently. I didn't even notice at first, but one headlight lens was horribly clouded and scratched up and the other looked brand new. Not really a big deal, but is nice to know.

I've been reading tonight around the various VW forums. I just may go back early in the week and pick it up. I just have to research to see if it's worth advertising my old worn out Honda or if I should just trade for what they would give me.

Hmm, poor XCNuse will be disappointed. I've been talking to him in PM a little bit about the Mazda. I was ready to pull the trigger until I looked at pictured of about 6-7 other Mazdas for sale on autotrader.com and every one of them I could see rust bubbles starting in the back fenders. I'm not dealing with that, it's the main reason of getting rid of the 188k mile Honda. It starts up just fine which I'm happy with (I don't drive in the city normally, it's all country roads to work) but it's already had recent extensive body work due to rust and is all rusting out again. Anywhere from 150k-200k is pretty much the end of life for a car here in PA normally due to rust. Once it starts, you'll have to do more and more work to it every year. Needs 4 new tires, alignment, possibly ball joint, bushings, something replaced as the shimmy is absolutely horrible. Just too much work and money to put into a 188,000 mile car.
never buy a vw,it rots like hell. for example my workmate had a 99 vw,and the drivers seat almost fell thru the floor(that was 3 years ago),it was that bad.rust everywhere, and we dont even live in a "salty" environment
are you trying to tell me it was racing on a track, and all the people watching the race looked at it at once
Who knows! All I know is i'm never buying a BMW because they ALL DO IT!

all cars do it.

Some more so then others obv But Bmw's are grand.... Civics for some reason are the safest cars ive seen because, Every Worlds wildest police chases or simular, theirs always atleast one of any age that gets wrapped around a pole at 50 and the driver limps his way away. That is the win.

if your talking about rust... look at fords.
I think you guys are very bad at detecting sarcasm. If not, carry on.

I'm now doing my driver licence so i can't drive it but my one good relative offers me a good first car for the begining. It's Fiat Punto 1.2 '93, small with low consumption so i accepted her offer and the car is waiting for me out there I was there a few days ago to make some photos "before buy", although it has got some scratches and a little slam in front its in great condition with valid control for the price of 13 000,- Czk (= $670 USD, = 515€) with 85 000 kms driven (around 52 000 miles)

Don´t. Buy. It.
Quote from BastianB :Don´t. Buy. It.

exactly, that punto only looks like 10% of the price the guy is looking for. offer him €50.
Eh, the punto looks fine. Perhaps a bit cheaper wouldn't hurt, but for that price you can only expect a car that breaks down
i trust them, it's my aunts car And for this price is car in this state cheap one...
looks banged up,but for first car its perfect. i had a tipo 1.4 back in hungary. fiat has lots of problems, but if u dont beat on it too much,u will be fine with it
Meh, the typical BMW talk... Does this makes you a douche too? Because that's what my first ever car will be. (not this one, but a black touring, yes) I have to find a proper one for a good price, which is not easy.
Quote from Töki (HUN) :Meh, the typical BMW talk... Does this makes you a douche too?

i dont think douche is quite the right word

It's sad that some peoples can't accept the fact that BMW is the best

Heh.. I might be selling mine soon (albeit Lachs Silver)

Looking to pick up an E60 550 M (2007 / 2008 model) and don't know if I can justify 3 cars

Ian
