Michael Jackson, the "King of Pop," has died after suffering cardiac arrest at his Los Angeles home, according to multiple reports. The singer had been preparing for a major comeback after years of seclusion.

A fire department official said Jackson was not breathing when paramedics arrived at his rented Bel Air mansion at 12:26 p.m.

Jackson, 50, was treated at UCLA Medical Center. But hospital officials were reportedly unable to revive him, according to ABC News, the Los Angeles Times and TMZ.

His death came as Jackson prepared for a major comeback next month, after years of seclusion. He was scheduled to perform 50 shows in London's O2 Arena, with the financial backing of two billionaires.

In recent years, Jackson had been the subject of endless tabloid headlines and financial difficulties. If his London shows had proved successful, he was expected to embark on a major world-wide tour.

Jackson first gained fame as musical prodigy with the pop group the Jackson 5. He was just a child, but under the watchful eye of his father, Joe Jackson, the group managed a string of hit singles with Motown Records.

The singer then broke out on his own in 1971, and began to craft his reputation as the "King of Pop." His solo efforts have become some of the best-selling albums of all time, including "Off the Wall," "Thriller" and "Bad."

The latter two albums coincided with the rise of MTV, and Jackson became known for a series of ground-breaking music videos -- including the horror-themed "Thriller."

Along with his talents as a singer and songwriter, he was also a spectacular dancer. He showed off his signature move, "The Moonwalk," during a 1983 television appearance celebrating the 25th anniversary of Motown.

But as his fame rose, so did his eccentricity. He became known for his child-like demeanor and his treasure trove of toys and amusement park rides at his Neverland Ranch -- named after the fantastical island of Peter Pan.
Wait, I'm confused.

Someone makes a thread about something that's dear to them, be it a Dog, or a family member, and there's always a group of people that are like "HAHAHA LOL AT YOU".

Yet yet some international "superstar" dies, people automatically mourn them. When they have no contact with them, and especially when this one in particular has had paedophilia claims made against him. When he's personal to no-one and yet because he's a global superstar, everyone's like *tear*...

It's such a ****ed up world we live in.
S14, you must be new to the internet.
Quote from DeadWolfBones :Would be the greatest prank ever if he "rose from the dead" and did a world tour in the zombie makeup from thriller.

I just think that would be Bad, in fact if that was the case he would seriously have to look at the Man In The Mirror in fact many would just say that kind of PR ploy would be Dangerous. What I want to know has anyone told Billie Jean, I'm sure she's going be devestated by the news. While he was always dogged by court cases and often described as a Smooth Criminal, he was found Not Guilty, although it wasn't always Black and White for many people.

Anyaway I'm just going to sit here and cup my testicles sighing a little "woo hoo" in remembrance.
i agree S14, I have to admit I was more sad when Jeff Corwin died, Bernie Mac too. I think MJ's childhood is more reason to be sad then his death, he was mercilessly beaten by his father, child abuse is never justifiable.

So yeah, the world is pretty f**cked up dude, totally agree.

Ok that was epic. LOL

Oh I'll clarify. I know this is the internet. I've been on it for 10 years.. I'm just saying I think it's wrong..

Also agree Pablo with your statement.
lol I couldn't stop laughing the first time I saw this, hopefully it will put at ease anyone that is truly saddened by what's happened.

'Cos some people are absolutely die-hard fans and have mega respect for these superstars, I think its only natrual to mourn when someone you have mega respect for dies.
RIP..

Wonder how long it will take the conspiracy theories to crop up. I'll give it a week....

No great loss, just got to endure weeks of tribute rubbish in the media now
Quote from DarkTimes :BBC are starting to report he has died, but they are understandably cautious.

I don't have any opinions on Jacksons personal life, it was what it was, but can I just say this.

You know he's playbacking there, as he probably did more often? Technically he can sing like that now..

Of course he was on the cover of one of the best selling albums and yes he had moves, but since the 90s he seems to have been fading away pretty fast, and I'm not talking about skin colour.

I can't grasp the Elvis type involvement, nor do I understand the concept of 'popularity'.. So I'm probably not the one to post in a thread about Michael Jackson..

One has to think, how well would tickets to "The Jackson four" sell? Janet has to pull off far more, literally, than the nipslip national drame of yesteryear..
naahh yes R.I.P
i like some music from M.J
Michael Jackons ashes are going to be used for etch-a-sketch so little kids an play with him.
lol google is going to bl0w up soon by the amount of MJ searches I bet. lol I wonder though, Hollywood deaths always come in 3's as the superstition goes, first david carradine, then MJ, I wonder who the is next. let's hope it's Courtney Love. (not to be mean lol)
One less paedophile on the planet. Good riddance.

+1

I know some of his music was good, but when someones mentions his name to me, I automatically think paedophile, not music artist.
Well, I can see where this thread is going, so I'm not going to post in it again. For me Michael Jackson was a musical genius who wrote some of the greatest pop songs of all time. Regardless of his personal life, I had a lot of respect for his abilities and I feel sorry for his now fatherless children. Of course this is the internet so anyone who has an opinion that isn't "OMG LOL PAEDO" is wrong.
Thing is, honestly I think finally he will get the peace now he wanted in life, he was always so secluded, always kept from others. Everyone seemed to always harass him, but at the same time, he had pornos lying around in the open, but kept a single book about young boys in a safe, just that 1 book.

All I can say is that he was a great performing artist, and left his mark on society, so he'll always be with us, no matter how much some wish he'd just go away. I just didn't agree with that whole baby out the window thing, people like that should not be around kids.

that's because he had talent and deserved his fame, and you have no talent or wider appeal. His contribution to the world of music was enormous, and I doubt very much you, or your dog, have contributed anything like what he has to the world

what, even though a jury found him not guilty? He was crucified by the media over that court case, and people who still think he is a kiddy fiddler need to grow up

Amen!
And just stop with those kid molesting jokes, I don't care if it's real. It's just sad to talk about someone like that that died...
I posted this on facebook, not sure if people agree with me but I hate it when this happens:

Quote : Not being horrible or directing this at certain people, but just like last time someone majorly famous died, everyone is now claiming jacko as their favourite singer, OH AND HE ALWAYS HAS BEEN. Gets annoying, its not a competition to who is the saddest over his death, for christ sake.
