Speaking of improvements: is there any possibility to have quoted searches for phrases? I often resort to google searches just for that (luckily the forum has been indexed quite well by google).

I think it's a user issue - click on the far right of the "search options" titlebar, on the wee double arrows pointing downwards.

For the people having problem with ATIUMDAG.DLL - do you have Catalyst AI enabled for the profile you're using with LFS?

If so, try disabling it - if that appears to work as a remedy then consider taking time to fill in a bug report at ATI's dev site.

For what it's worth, consider not using CCC and opt for the latest beta of the ATI Tray Tools instead which supports 38xx and 48xx series GPUs.

Quote from EQ Worry :My bad, your good point. I've corrected that, the exported file will be in 2.1.3 pure ASCII, nicknames in LFS characters. To change the strings into Unicode for Web page display there's a PHP script available some where, created by Victor.

How about an option for that since unicode is the way everything is going now - removing it completely in favour of ASCII is a step back in some ways. For one I found it convenient that Airio handles UTF-8-to-LFS perfectly well - we got Greek running in it right away on a private server. So knowing that everything going in and coming out is in UTF8 kinda helps. Just my 2c.

Quote from Shotglass :pregenerated music on a <95 game? blasphemy

The pregenerated music version was pre-95 as well. I think it came out sometime after MI2 or something. So that makes it around '92-'93 just about when Gabriel Knight was coming around and definetely after Rise Of The Dragon and Heart of China. I'm pretty surprised those titles even surfaced up in my brain - I guess that pretty much proves why I can't remember worth shit nowadays.

Quote from Shotglass :if it isnt it damn better well should be... which reminds me i still havent bought an mt32

Precisely the reason I bought Monkey Island a second time when the CD version was out.

Quote from thisnameistaken :Grim Fandango killed Monkey Island for me.

You know, I missed out on that one - when that came out I was either nowhere near computers or only around them for work. I think I should make up.

Quote from Shotglass :mi i usually play through 1 and 2 every year or so

I think that's a standard ritual for everyone that played those when they were first released.

Quote from Shotglass : as for stunts im afraid crashday totally ruined that fond memory

That makes me pretty glad I didn't fall for Crashday - it seems like it would've of attempted to destroy all the precious time I had invested in Deathtrack as well.

Haven't really tried it enough so far, now that the demo is out but it struck me as a bit weird, maybe because of the disorienting sounds and the general chunkiness of the cars.

The engine or gearwhine (couldn't make out what it was supposed to be) has this continuous odd high pitched feedback sound that's like white noise going through a low-pass & chorus filter chain and the tyres seem to have no scrub sound - it's either scream or nothing so as I don't have a rape fetish that kinda put me off.

I'll have to comment on the FFB and the rest whenever I give it a proper playthrough, probably wearing earplugs if I can't find a way to adjust the sounds.

I'd say that iconic liveries also include the later-day BASF liveries - crazy concentric circle mayhem and the striped m-series BMW liveries.

A pretty concise list of the Porsche liveries, together with some blurb, which were posted in this thread can also be found here:

http://speedhunters.com/archiv ... nic-porsche-liveries.aspx

And thinking of the BASF livery's most dizzying rendition on the M1s made me remember Andy Warhols "art car" - which was pretty cool, considering.

Quote from Furiously-Fast :lol, all I can say is cheaters never win. How can we be sure you'll never do it again? Anyone can apologize from the safely from behind their monitor's screen.

Amen! The voice of logic! For that purpose, I propose he presents at least 300ml of blood in tribute and a member of his family as collateral.

Quote from danowat :I did a little research a few weeks back, simply because I hadn't played LFS online much, and because the general feeling in the forum is one of distain for LFS, and I was frankly suprised at what I found.

LFS numbers have remained fairly constant for online play, when I had expected to see a decline.

Another fine example of how scientific research is never co-ordinated properly and how we're wasting resources.

If only I knew fellow researcher danowat was on the exact same path as I, I wouldn't have of wasted precious time compiling statistical data by clicking the "statistics" button in LFSW.

And indeed, after such laborious and intensive research one can only be dishearthened when he comes face-to-face once more with that which forms the basis of yet another one of these threads. That is to say, it is nothing else but the product of the dramatic nature of a spineless individual very fittingly bending his way into controrted images of hysteria and quite obviously unable to face the truth standing.

Fellow forum members, I call upon you to join me in a collective sigh and shaking of the head in the direction of thisnameistaken.

For such playful usage, off the top of my head, I remember hearing good words about this one:
http://www.sealife-cameras.com/cameras/ecoshot.html

However it's probably more than twice the price of the one you posted above.

In fact I've also heard good words about another one, rather more expensive it seemed, of their cameras relative to their ruggedness and CCD capabilities.

Two friends of mine also are pleased with an Olympus-with-housing and a Samsung-waterproof-without-housing that they got - sadly, I don't remember their models, but that wouldn't matter as they're likely outdated by now.

Quote from danowat :anyone had any experiance with underwater cameras photography?, any suggestions?, something cheap

Depends on what you fancy on doing really. If it's just some surface snapshots then you might get away with a cheap camera but might be better of investing in a decent (brandname) waterproof-to-5m compact camera. For anything more than that cheap is not really an option since you'll end up buying it again.

And, although I seem to be the only one going on about this, after extensive screwing around with the latest version of this mod I have to say it's amazingly good.

Can't compare it to v1 since I never got around to trying that one, but this is a really solid production from just about all aspects. A pleasant surprise for my ears was that the sounds of the cars are not a clipping, distorted mess and that the samples actually mix seamlessly, there are no moments of "hey wow, I got two engines" when going from low to high revs.

Also the UI is so clean and nice - a far cry from the cluttered, confusing, over-bevelled mess of the original GTR2 UI.

Quote from Bladerunner :For the people with young (teen) daughters, I recommend sticking them in front of a TV with Twilight ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1099212/ ) showing...you will have guaranteed peace for just over two hours.
Emmy has already seen it about 50 times, and has it classified as her favouritist film of EVVAHHH!!!!

Do you tell her to press "play" after you've exited the room?

Btw, the vote distribution clearly shows this is exactly the movie you describe: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1099212/ratings

Recently watched Le Samurai, it's quite some fun with trenchcoats, fedoras and assassins mixing and matching.

It's a command to get the prerequisite packages to run it under mono. Might help some people to add that to the manual or something. Btw, checked out Airio the other day - very nice work! Must be the friendliest tracker implementation I've seen to date.
