Quote from Bladerunner :What about looking at the replays, and seeing that the clutch bar NEVER moves (or shows!) I just tried out auto clutch...first time I've used it since I got my G25... and lo...yonder bar moves with auto clutch!!! It also moves with button clutch and with pedal clutch....so...my theory is that if no bar movement is seen, must be a macro! (especially when somebody gains THAT much time with gearchanging!)

Macro = program sends button or axis command to LFS
Result = bar will move regardless.
You lost.
Sorry.

Not sure how Vegas would go about implementing it but "color curves" is the answer - apply an S-Curve and if the program allows compress your levels a bit or move them to adjust a higher range. Toning down the saturation can help a bit, although LFS's texture colours are usually good in that aspect.

Do you run any sort of protection software that goes paranoid about new files being made?

If I were you I'd just get ProcMon and set it to monitor "f1.xyz" (it asks you what to filter for when it starts up, see the attached screenshot - it also has an option to monitor as soon as you boot under Options) and see what programs want to access those files.

Quote from Jakg :i'm willing to bet if you spent 6 months racing or 6 months racing you'd be better at racing if you did the latter

Or perhaps you could just do 6 months racing and then 6 months racing. Not to mention that racing for 6 months would definitely be on par with racing for 6 months.

What OS are you two running? Did you check the permissions for the contents of the <lfs_dir>/data/skins_x folder?

@MindCrime: Since it's one of your races is your car skinned in the replay? Is it possible that the rest of the grid has removed their skins from LFSW? Have you perhaps set it to download "high" resolution (1024x1024) skins and don't have any LFS credits in your account and have to revert to 512x512?

Quote from worldeye007 :I mention that if I unlock it as DEMO (when i don't have s2 unlocks) it stays unlocked all the time...

This line confuses me a bit - "demo mode" is essentially as locked as LFS gets.

If you mean that it reverts back to demo then backup the f1.xyz, f2.xyz and f3.xyz files found in your <lfsdir>/data/misc directory so you can copy them back without needing to unlock. Another trick would be to set them to read-only access, so whatever it is that is deleting them can't delete them. The final solution to finding what deletes them is getting ProcMon from www.sysinternals.com and setting it to watch those files.

Does anyone else play LFS on your PC at any time? If so, ask them if they press the license button in the bottom right of the main screen.

I wonder if a "bouche fermée" period after qualifying would help prevent past issues.

Quote from _JuanPablo_ :Hi, how to create script to execute one file .BAT ?

I creat .lfs script:

run kill.bat

And ingame execute /hrun kill.lfs but is not working.

In kill.lfs:
exec kill.bat

If you want it to wait until execution of kill.bat has ended then:
wait kill.bat

Quote from thisnameistaken :we live in considerably more enlightened times now

I see you are quite a bit more optimistic than I am.

Percentage-wise I think ignorance levels have not changed, stupidity certainly not; you still see masses of people doing the same things over and over through-out documented history. It's just that, in our modern society, you get more people, since what people proved to be better at than any other animal was copulation (shepherds of the world might contradict this), and you can hide in a horde of like-minded zombies of your preference ready to howl "brains" to anyone you think doesn't have one - which really don't amuse any of the other zombies and they just howl "brains" back at you because you obviously don't have one either.

Quote from Klutch :Not to mention the whole "God hates fags" thing.

What's amusing in a grammar school sort of way is that British restaurants could get away with having that on signs in the no smoking sections.

Quote from chanoman315 :So Aliens exist? Xaotik?

Sure, I see no reason why not. It would surely please quite a few people and disgruntle quite a few others, perhaps a few sects will commit mass suicide, some religions will have to be re-written to accommodate and much mirth will ensue. Fun times for all. But ancient monuments proposed as evidence of the paranormal don't sway me much.

Yes - we have such gigantic structures in Greece which I have visited and was quite impressed. But not for one moment did I put it down to "aliens" or the supernatural. We basically choose to blindfold ourselves and think "aliens helped them" because we assume that since they, old humans of the past, leaved in such a backwards place as the past weren't smart enough to figure out things.

Yet - there they stand - monuments thousands of years old. Some ancient cities here have plumbing and irrigation systems that still work. I've been in buildings 20 y/o that you can't flush a toilet in fear of what might happen to the plumbing next week, let alone contemplate what they'll be like in 5000 years time.

If there was a dire need for someone to do so I am sure they would ask an engineer to think of a way. Just because we can't figure out how they did it - and because we assume, often erroneously, they had inferior engineering skills to modern people - doesn't mean that aliens were involved in making the base of a temple.

Where you see little green men, I see impressive fits of humans. Where you see mystery and magic, I see sadness because my contemporary civilization only hauls ass to post youtube videos.

Quote from chanoman315 :Watch this, and if an actual human can do this in reality... he's the master, but no one can...

Get enough people working on it and it can be done; obviously. I mean, there they are, done - built. There are impressive structures all around the world - some of them gigantic monolithic constructions made in times undocumented by people whacking at rocks with other rocks, like the stuff in Malta, but there's nothing magical about them when you apply some reason to it - given manpower, time and dedication it can be done. Impressive yes, impossible no.

I mean really, what did the average Mayan have going for him that was so pressing he couldn't haul a big rock up a slope for his beloved god, who made sure he didn't die in an imaginative and painful way unless the high priest said so?

Quote from Dajmin :The cool thing about science and religion is that they're all theoretical.

So your idea of the scientific approach is this:

Quote from Dajmin :It's all about the give and take. Science says e=mc[2]. Religion says God limits the speed of light to c. Where's the problem?

Science says e=mc^2 will do for now - not too sure, and neither should you be.

Some religions say god made light.

Opinions might vary but I blame TV for that one.

Also, don't forget the bonus of being able to throw shit at someone and not get a lecture on hygiene - but of course that takes us back to organized religion again.

Didn't find any mention of it in a search I did on the forums (using obvious keywords).

Has anyone given this a go? Looks like a promising indie sim. What caught my attention was the addition of tyre flex in a recent version and some screenshots of the in-game telemetry which looked pretty detailed - I'll probably d/l the demo and give it a spin sometime in the week.

Quote from CharlieW5025 :this would indicate that the in car speedometer is a source of wheel speed

No. It comes from the driveshaft rotational speed. And yes, it can fluctuate wildly if you lock up the driving wheels; but it's by all means not an accurate reading.

Quote from DeadWolfBones :I'd been tossing around a similar idea with a few of my LFS friends. Would be glad to see the idea fly, no matter who's doing it.

Something that I had said to DWB when he tossed that idea this way:

Judging from previous efforts at sites that covered leagues and such it seems like pretty tedious work since there appear to be few leagues who actually have someone willing to do some sort of PR. A good example is the fact that mostly (if not only) CoRe submits LFS stuff to insidesimracing.tv and they even have an appealing-to-many big breasted girl doing the show. Come to think of it, that probably accounts for CoRe's submissions.

Also, is the general community, apart from the ones participating in a league being covered, actually interested in league races and such? How many people follow a league they don't participate in?

How about the latest efforts like virtualr.net and simracercentral.com? Would creating a "news team" that submits so such centralized sites that get more attention be more flexible?
