Such a brilliant scheme only to be thwarted by petty regulations. *sigh*

Quote from duke_toaster :I think aliens landed here in a white FIAT Uno and they helped JFK, Prince Philip and Elvis shoot Diana

Nonsense, Elvis and JFK were busy at the time. It was more likely nazi time travelers.

According to what it says here, amongst other things, he also claims to have been healed of cancer by a teenage psychic healer at a distance.

Quote from Mazz4200 :Just read today that all violent computer games are to be banned in UK prisons to all inmates except those on suicide watch Yeh, this'll certainly cheer them up

Violent games! Such crap, the only reason those inmates are on suicide watch is because of the XRT being removed from the LFS demo.

As far as looks go, I could probably forgive some of the stylistic cliches they've gone for but they should of stuck to those cliches for the headlight/combo things they got sticking out there instead of trying to be innovative with them. Unless they are miniature missile pods, in which case they're far too anime-styled for my taste as well.

Quote from wheel4hummer :I still think it is a waste of a thread, though. Isn't there already a backfire mod? Or does it not work with newer patches?

CSR does backfires, but I think it only uses one sample for them.

Quote from Crashgate3 :I think as long as they have good dialogue trees it should work pretty well in first person, if they can get some system similar to half life with the facial animation and they way the characters make eye contact with you as they speak. The NPC interactions in 1 and 2 were done in first person.

Indeed - as they tried to do in Oblivion. However, where it falls short is that there actually isn't much in-depth NPC interaction. And that's where I'm getting to. In the first fallout games there were quite a few things to do and situations to work on due to the interaction with NPCs. I don't care how it's rendered and such - just the mechanics behind it and how it will (or won't as is most commonly the case) affect the gameworld.

Yeah, I saw some video that illustrated those methods - but there's more to the fallout games than just the combat. And that hasn't been touched really. No in-depth mention or footage of interaction with NPCs and what not.

Same here - there hasn't been much word on the RPG aspects really.

I think you need to work a bit more on your rendering of perspective. There are several nice tutorials on such on the web - google them. Also, since car designs are essentially technical drawings for the most part, even concept art, going for clean lines would help alot.

Quote from wsinda :With the harness I decribed, your body gets another sensory input, but one that may get translated by your brain (after some training), so it knows about the G-forces and can react to them. And that may help in your driving.

Well yeah, you'd have to interpret the signal all over again - I imagine that happens with motion platforms as well to a certain degree, only it's more familiar - so it wouldn't be exactly a simulator then.

Quote from wsinda :Compare it with TrackIR. That does really not give you a 360 degree view -- you still have only 1 monitor to look at, and you need to train your eyeballs to keep looking at it.

OT
Most examples of such headtracking software I have seen were pretty extreme - I wonder if someone could constrain the angle to something that's closer to a real-life, intuitive amount - like, just enough to look at the apex without necessarily having to glance sideways at the screen.

If it's strapped to you all you would likely feel is something poking you. I think it would have to be stabilized on something (chair? bucket seat?) to exert a force that actually pushes you. And still that might be limited to lateral forces.

Quote from thisnameistaken :They should have to perform special moves with joysticks to change gear, a la Street Fighter 2. Dragon Punch for 2nd, Spinning Piledriver for 3rd, Fireball for 4th and so on. And different ones for downshifts.

I propose the institution of the TSIG0 roll. Inspired from THAC0 - the "To Shift Into Gear 0" roll would basically be determined based on driver AGI and the gear's distance from neutral.

Check the alpha channel you have defined for the .tga image you used. It has to correspond with the areas you want transparent. It's in the "channels" panel (usually grouped with layers and paths).

True that, they make a mint out of making sure that title is mostly reserved for their viewers. Although there's probably a sort of bovine intelligence working it out somewhere behind the scenes.

On a more scientific note:

As is common public knowledge LSD contains all the necessary ingredients for you to fly. The speed at which you fly under such circumstances is not limited by any means and, what is best, the immortality gained by its consumption and the elevation to status of supreme being means that the planet you have created cannot possibly kill you with puny billiard-ball attacks.

Quote from danowat :Is this the same for all 100% cocoa chocolate?

I'm not really sure - I've had some 100% cocoa, I forget which brand it was, that was less "rough" tasting than others. But then again I really don't like milky sweet chocolates so maybe our tastes would differ on that.

I also find it can only be enjoyed in very small morsels because of the strong taste - you have to let it sort of sneak up on the rest of your mouth instead of carpet bombing it with a big chunk.

Even better solution: charge extra for the Corners Of Death and make spectators sign a liability release form. The merchandising possibilities are endless.

I think that aural feedback through decent surround sound combined with the current ffb via the steering column would probably be a better way to handle this more accurately for everyone.

Quote from scania :selves one make race is a good place to test a new technology on track, why don't they put a KERS tune down model on it?

Because currently the rules of A1GP dictate the usage of a powerboost function and no mention of a KERS system. It has nothing to do with being greener.
