Now now, you know the thread rules: any arguments lacking examples from at least two races back and only focus on the current race will be disregarded.
Got to see it the other night. Nice imagery, the "story" and symbolism in it is pretty straightforward but rather abstracted, the score was good (although it got overly dramatic/epic at bits building up on crescendos too often), the audio of dialogues (mostly the internal ones) kinda annoyed me with all the whispering half-sentences and so on.
As an experience it didn't provoke any sort of emotion in me despite being rather relaxed for the viewing and not knowing anything about the film. I think it could've of benefited from more tangible storytelling as the actors looked lost or dazed for the most part - especially Sean Penn had his classic shell-shocked expression permanently on. Perhaps it was because the characters were indeed exposed at key moments of their life to shock and had epiphanies of sorts but that didn't get transferred to me as I had no time to build a connection to the characters before being bombarded by their internal struggle with abstracted concepts.
Japanese phonetic spelling. Same reason the japanese original title for Battle Royale is "Batoru rowaiaru" and Audition's is "Ôdishon" to name a couple that pop to mind.
Ah, the world-famous British Festival. Did they get to appreciate varying levels of downpour as the poster says or was that just hype to get people from the League of Drizzle Enthusiasts to attend?
Yes. It's not the same situation.
Also, keep in mind the known problems with LFS's current tyre model - which actually tend to be highlighted in such situations.
Looks good for pre-alpha stuff - graphics-wise the colours are out of whack (especially the sky), but I guess that'll get fine-tuned at some point. Would be interesting to see how it handles - I gave Piboso's kart sim a spin recently, on merit of his gpbikes project being as good as it is, but couldn't get the steering/FFB dialed in properly.
That works when you want to create something new. If you want to simulate then, by definition, you imitate real world features. I don't care about real cars, real tracks, etc - but putting forward the safety hazards as an example like you did left it open to debate as to what features (graphical or otherwise) that are already incorporated into LFS would be necessary.
Personally "sirens", strobes and cherry tops are not what I'd care to see. If some league wants to implement a safety car feature it's up to them to do it - just use a skin that stands out and you're set.
I was going to say that's hopefully a mid-bounce action shot but apparently it was a pre-ban one. The image size was very bandwidth and layout friendly though.
Traffic police stopped Werner Heisenberg for speeding.
"Sir, do you know how fast you were going?" asked the cop.
"No, but I know exactly where I am," replied Heisenberg.
You'd be referring to momentum. However you're not taking into consideration the engine's inertia which keeps the tyres spinning during most of the motion (the clutch is engaged a little bit before the car comes to a stop). To be honest, the specific video seems perfectly normal to me, I've done much the same in a normal car with road tyres, it doesn't take much steering lock or actual speed as long as you get the rear tyres to lose traction.
In that sense, a racing simulator does not require driver models much less driver models wearing helmets and suits, properly modeled race-car cockpits with roll-cages and fire extinguishers, tracks with tyrewalls, sand/gravel traps, etc. All it needs it's a rudimentary fictional vehicle that obeys simulated laws of physics as accurately as possible and two parallel lines that define a circuit with complete disregard for simulating the experience of racing, not caring if race tracks actually look like actual race tracks or race cars actually look like actual race cars or that racing situations resemble actual racing situations.
Seeing the video of the BUT vs HAM crash it's clear HAM wasn't halfway alongside him (as he said it only felt like he was): he actually barely had his nose next to BUT's rear wheel. At the distance they were at in all probability BUT indeed only saw his own rear wing.
