Bah!

Bah, i'm really fed up with this.
I bought a momo some 5 months ago and been using it very carefully (i take real good care of my gear) since then.

~ 2 months ago (so, only barely 3 months after starting using my brand new wheel) my pedals showed the usual momo issue and i've dealt with it using dxtweak, lost some of the pedal travel but it at least worked now.

Got a spare from logitech anyway when i contacted then about my pedal issues.

It got here ~ 1 month ago (I'm from Brazil, it gets here from the USA, on a mule it seems ). I let it on it's box, didn't even open it.

Now three days ago i started having problems with my wheel (which should last a pretty good ammount of time since it's "optical", doesn't it?) > http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=19544

Tried solving it but to no avail.

I'm starting at the LOTA F08 series, really love that car.
The first race is 20 hours from now.

So i figured, heck, i"ll use my spare wheel and everything will be fine.

But, to my surprise my goddamn brand new wheel which came directly from logitech just shat itself on the very first seconds.

I don't know, maybe the FFB is broken or something, but the wheel barely turns (as if there was something inside it holding it or something) and the FFB effects ain't working.

So... now i've got no wheel to race with.
And not only LOTA is coming (where i was with some good times) but my national league (pretty fun and tight races with friends - and i justed got into a team too) is starting in two weeks too and i was looking forward to that.

Not to mention a Brazil vs Portugal competition that we're having and ends on this 25th with a combo that i really like and am this close (less than .04) of breaking the WR.

Now after the holidays comes the time to race some organized races and i thought i was golden, with my wheel working ok and a spare ready to rock...

But as of now i ain't got nothing to race with.
Damn.

That's pretty cool, huh?
Just wanted to rant a little. I'm sorry.
It's hard to be addicted to this.

:/

ps: and you might say, well, "just bloody buy another wheel then mate", but trust me, it is *REALLY* rare to come across a Momo or a DFP here on my country and i really mean *RARE*, so even having the money here we don't have where to get it. literally there's none for sale.Ii gotta wait on logitech now and there goes those championships.

ps2: on the bright side i've got a lot to catch up. a pile of good books, yay i guess hehe

Quote from Jakg :centering spring, you want it enabled, but set to 0%, and you want 101% force in the driver - everything else is just opinion

Oh yeah?
Enable it and let it at 0%?

Why is that different of not enabling it then?

Quote from Tweaker :Sell it on Ebay, you'll get some hits there.

Sold some sim hardware on there, and posting on RSC, BHM, and LFS forum would help interest (need pics of course)

Been thinking about selling my Red MOMO, but I am keeping it incase a friend wants to use it.

If you ever get interested on selling it, send me a PM

Quote from Tweaker :Hmmm which one did you try?

The MOMO Centering Utility always worked fine for me in Windows XP and my MOMO wheels.

MOMORacingFixCenter works.
But it made my wheel crazy when enabled so.. i couldn't use it.

The other centering software from wingman team doesn't work but i'm almost sure that it's because it only works with 4.40 and lower drivers.

th84, that's EXACTLY my problem.
But, sometimes it happens cause of a bump, sometimes it's just out of the blue, really.

I raced today about 4 hours and had the problem one time, after almost 3 hours and then not again.

About not using the profiler, i could do that, i'm not that worried about the binds, it's the "other stuff" that i'm worried about. Does anybody know something about what i'm talking about? I'm talking about the other settings.

I want to know what happens if i dont open up the profiler, if those settings stored there are used cause that was the last thing my wheel knew or what.

And... is the profiler harmful, can it be? (as mrodgers showed us) Or is it rare to behave like that/cause that kind of problem?
Let's discuss some ENDURANCE setup hints!

Hello, folks.
Here comes the newb again

I'm racing on a 32 laps WE Int REV with the FO8 in less than 48 hours...
Here's the catch:
The problem is, my set really doesn't last that much.
And yeah yeah, i know i should take it easier (And i do, honest!) but this set which is pretty good for qualy isn't nearly as good for a "race".

So... i would like to know what settings could/should i change?
Can you guys tell me some "general" hints about that kind of setup too?
The kind which needs to last more than 10min.

As for the driving part:

* Really avoid locking up the wheels,
* Do not make any dorift0 manoeuvres to impress the ladies and all that jazz.
* Even make some agressive turns a little slower to avoid heating up so much the poor tyres.

All right. I hear you, i do.

But now, how about the setup?
What should a poor lad change in order to still be not so slow and have some rubber on the end of the race?

I know it's track dependent but can a FO8 with R2s last some 50min of "agressive" driving (say some second or so from any given WR)?
I know a FOX with R1s can last about that much on most tracks, on that pace.
But i don't know that about the FO8. Can it?

Apart from changing to a harder compound (R3s in this case) and tweaking the camber... what else could i do?

Let's get specific here please.
Even with the camber. I should get it negative (no, it isn't positive by now ) and try to let it as close to 0, or what?

If i do all that i can (which you guys will me instruct here about what that is) and still the car won't last and i change to harder compounds, then how should i set it up? Cause, it gets a lot different, right?

Tell me which values should i change and "how much" (say, cut/add that setting to half or 10 or 30% of your qualy set value and see what you can do with it, that kind of "how much"), i"ll fiddle with those, no problems. I just need to know where to start changing things.

And yeah i know you guys would want this specific set so you could give me some specific (since i got you guys the specific ammount of time i want it to last) suggestions but there's no need for that.

As i said, i would like this thread to be filled with "hints" about making a set LASTING LONGER and not necessarily just BE FASTER at any cost.

That's it.
I hope i made myself clear, i'm kind sleepy and my english sucks.

Here, a carebear to cheer you up, man.

I don't even know what the heck.

ps: psssst, i know a 32 lap race isn't an endurance race, by a long shot, i just chose that title cause it looked so... sexy

Quote from Linsen :The way it works is quite simple, actually: Devs read the suggestions, think about it and add the requested feature if they feel it's a good idea. When they will add it is a different matter, though.

Yeah, cool.
I just wanted to know if a well accepted idea would get into a "list" or something or if just a thread like this would suffice?

Yeah, i'm using the 4.60 driver (always been).
Well, if i disable (do not fire it up) the profiler... will my wheel configurations stand?

I mean, ive set some things on, some off, altered some values, all in the profiler.

If i don't fire it up... what will happen?

And... was your problem exactly like mine?
If it was, well, i've got some hope yet, since you managed to solve your problem...

ps: since if i don't use the profiler i will lose some keybinds... what could i use to assign the F10-F11 keys to the wheels' buttons? but that's not such a problem... wheel centering is hehe

Just to give it a better statement:
It's an "intermittent" (sp?) issue.

It's not like i can't get to center it.
It does get centered "alright".

The problem is that then suddenly it gets off center.
And then (sometimes after recalibrating, sometimes even just going to the garage and then back to the track) it gets centered again.

So... i can't set a value on the DXTweak, for instance, for it to interpret that keepin' the wheel at a given angle should be more to the left/right... you know?

I need something to keep it centered all the time, i mean, something which doens't let it lose it's centering.

I'm using the 4.60 driver.
Momo Racing Black - Centering Problem [HELP]

Hello!
I've got a Momo for what 4-5 months now?
Had some troubles with the throttle pedal but "solved" it using DXTweak2 (Windows XP here).

Now... the momo is well know for it's pedal issues, right?
Ok.

But... isn't the wheel pretty "solid"?
I mean, it's got an optical system for centering and all that, right?
So there's pretty much no "mechanical wear" on that system, right?

But now my wheel decided to decalibrate itself in the middle of the game...
I go to the garage and it's all fine, take the car for a spin and a few minutes after that the wheel goes a lil off center to the left...

Now, i've tried using the Clear Calibration software and reinstalled my drivers too.

There's even a "MomoTweak" app on the Wingman team website but it doesn't work with WinXP (it seems).

I've tried recalibrating the wheel on LFS too, of course.
In fact i always recalibrate my axis everytime i open up the game.

Tried leaving the "Calibration Lock" on too (used to have it always off).

Still, nothing worked.

Now.. i don't know what else to do, any suggestions before i throw it out in the garbage bin?

Thanks.

Ain't that a really nasty and smelly keyboard? (@ at the pic)

Ah, and just for the record, ALT-TABBIN' LFS isn't recommended, at all.
If i were you, i would look for another solution.
CTRL + F8 - returning splits too

The CTRL + F8 command which returns the WR for that combo is pretty cool.
But... could it show the splits of said WR too?

I think it would be nice to have.

You'd hit CTRL + F8 and receive a WR by :Someone: (13.67) (46.20) 1.15.290 for instance.

If it's not too much work to add it and others agree, can we have it?
I think it would be cool to have the splits too instead of "only" the WR time.

Quote from thisnameistaken :they seem more about precision than finesse if you know what I mean.

It's "funny" you put it that way, i "agree".
I really like the open wheelers.
The FOX and FO8 (the later i like a lot more).

Here in Brazil people are really into the TBOs and those "road" cars.
Which is fine.

But they seem to think that driving with a open wheeler is "easy".
Well, that's not the case AT ALL.

If you're looking to drive FAST (over .3, .2 from the WR, on racing set and in a race) a open wheeler you gotta be goddamn PRECISE.

A lot of people don't see that, i find that really weird.

edit: and Bob, do you think the FO8 is "friendly"? holy crap man..
i'm really bad at this game then hehehe
that car is a beast, really fun to push it to the limit
but, to each it's own =)

Is there a way to auto capture HOTLAPS instead of PBs?
Our league uses a hotlap upload system.
If there's a way to auto capture those, it would make things a lot better for us.

Welcome to S2.

Well, i'd recommend a Logitech wheel.
Be it a Momo, a DFP or a G25 i think you"ll be pretty pleased.

I've got a momo and for "mods" i use "momoleds", "pitspotter" and that's it.
Really useful stuff. Kegetys is king.

All i know is that i'm glad you're considering new tracks, amp my man.
You've got 3 servers, right?

If at least 1 of those would rotate between some (selected) tracks each, say, one week, that would be pretty cool.

FYI...there is an array of present time clocks and an event countdown clock at the bottom of the forums.

alright, then i"ll register at 6 AM today!! lol =)
yeah i noticed the clocks now, i'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer, you know?
[Noob] Quick question about tyres' temperature
Meanie

Hello, i would like to even out my temps on the tyres.
That's the best thing, right?

How do i do that?

As you can see my middle and "inside" parts of the tyres heats up almost equally, but not the outer side part of it.

Should be really simple to even out the temps, right?
What should i do?

Thanks

Quote from RoCkBiGdAvE :I usualy do none BUT i think i should start.

Just before xmas I started to get weird pains / feelings in me neck/shoulder area on the right hand side. I stoped using my wheel since then untill a few weeks back and during the time I didnt play I was fine. Now, their back.

DFP = health risk i tell thee!!

Yeah, people are just joking and all (which is fine ) but it really is important.
Even if you don't feel disconfort and/or aches, if you play anything for more than say 1 hour at times you really should start stretching and all, you know?

Prevention.

There is a chance of causing lesion due to repetitive effort. Even athletes have to be careful about it.

Well, i hope someone with knowledge on the matter show up.
With some exercises for us hehehe.

Cheers

ps: the joking is fine, by the way, but please think of the future hehe, this is a "serious matter". Even if you're young and indestructible.
