Quote from Michael Denham :Congrats I used to be so happy when I got a win, now I'm more happy when I've had a really good battle with somebody, regardless of what place I finish in. I guess it makes me worry less about being quick that way :P

Exactly the way I feel too.
I might win with a 5s lead on a 10 lapper or finish 4th (or whatever) BUT fighting all the way with someone and I"ll choose the later every time. It's a no brainer.

But yeah, enjoy your first victories!
They're the best.

Quote from james_bskt :I cant find this option... in the menu, under which tab please? thanks

You can only extract a .raf file from a singleplayer replay (or maybe even only hotlap files, I can't remember it now).

Once you play that replay you can push ESC and then there will be the "Output lap data" option (or something like that, I'm sure there's a "output" there! :tilt which you can push, choose a name and then the game will output the .raf data from the next lap.

If you can't find the "output" option on any given replay it's because it's a multiplayer replay and then you can't extract .raf files from it.
Once the "next lap" is done, the .raf will be saved with the name you chose before and stored at the "raf" folder on LFS.

Then you can load it on the Telemetry (Analyze for Speed is one of them) programs.
My G25 is oxidating! o_O

Hello, one of the great points in my mind about buying the G25 was it's durability (I had a MOMO before) so, if you will, picture my amazement when I was storing it yesterday (I store it on a closet as soon as I stop using it, the shifter and the wheel, the pedals stay under the desk over a piece of wood and covered in plastic - I'm a careful guy) and pulled that little bit of "leather" over the shifter shaft and then saw...

Rust over the steel.

Man...
Isn't it supposed to be stainless steel all over the product?

Anyway, I've had my G25 for just a short time, less than 2 months, and used it sparingly.
The storage closet and the enviroment on which it's used are not (even though I'm from Brazil) high humidity ones.
But the shaft is rusting all the same and now I would like to have some suggestions as to what I can do about it?

It doesn't bother me at all on the cosmetic aspect, you can't even see it if you don't pull back the leather on the shifter shaft.
But I'm worried that all this rust will continue to "go down" and jinx all the workings on the shifter unite.

So, I've got a shifter shaft which looks like to be rapidly rusting (there's a "ring" on top of the leather part that covers the shaft which seems to be made of metal and is rusted/rusting too) and I don't know what to do. Because I don't know what to use on the rust from fear of what the product might do to the rest of the shifter unit.

Help.

PS: To all G25 owners, it would be wise if you took notice of your shaft (gear shaft, damn) from time to time, I hope not but maybe it's rusting out too.

Quote from ajp71 :You've wiped all your PBs?

Yes, I wipe them out almost every day (that I play the game, of course).
Again, read the first post... :/
You can check the number of laps of someone on any given combo even if they erase their PBs.

Via LFSWorld, hover the mouse over the.. (eh, read the first post).
Or in-game using /w laps "loginname" while on the same car/track combo.

Nope.
Pretty sure about it too.
Would have to be invisible (as I was on the PC room at the time of that race, second to the time showed at LFSW).
And I don't have multiple personalities, at least I'm not aware of it.
(Then again, they get to be aware of it? :tilt

I'm telling you "people", I never raced there.
Ever.

And LFS World seems to agree with me on that.
There are no recorded laps on this track. Check my account.

Geez, now I'm going to be regarded as the crazy kid on the community, ain't I? a

Quote from Becky Rose :
The problem is extremely rare

History of my life.

It's just that I'm sure (100% positive) that I never raced on that track, AS North Rev. And I don't remember racing anything else apart from WE Rev on your servers, yesterday. Maybe I could have being sent to yet another track (not WE Rev, not AS North Rev either) and raced there and by some reason the LFSW recorded me as racing at AS North Rev.

The problem is that I'm sure that I haven't raced all alone, online, on the CTRA Servers either.
Specially yesterday (my memory isn't that bad, hehe). And what about that XFR car?
Same bug?

This is pretty weird.
I'm just concerned if this isn't the "sign" of a bigger problem or something like that.
Freaked me out a little, as I told you guys before, but if it's just a "pretty rare bug", then it was bound to happen to me eventually.
I'm pretty good, it seems. So good that I win races without ever racing on the tracks

I "think" there is a glitch on LFS World here. Freaked me out a little, hehe.
I raced yesterday one time (actually that's the number of race"s" I finished) on CTRA Single Seater 1 server, FOX @ We Rev.

Today I raced a little bit on SO Town with the FOX on the same server. Then I stopped racing there when the track changed and considering that I'm in the mood to watch a movie but, before i went to watch it I logged on LFS World to see how many times I had won there, if 3 or 4. I wasn't remembering it. (My memory is that bad)

After I got to know what i wanted to know, by curiosity I clicked on the "1" (September 1) there on the calendar.

Got to see the race of yesterday I just mentioned (WE Rev) but then something caught my eye.
I won a race on AS North Rev just after that.
Cool, good stuff man.
But... then i remember that I never ever raced on that track!

That got me a little freaked out cause on my country league we're going to race with the FOX on that track at the 13th. The thing is, I usually start to practice one week or less before the race. Maybe my memory was REALLY playing a trick on my mind, I thought, but I'm really positive ( nah, I'm 100% sure) that i haven't even set foot on that track with the FOX, ever. I would remember it, even with my reallly bad memory cause if I had raced there i would be tracking my lap times and so on, cause it's a league race combo.

So... what the hell is going on?
I even did a lap time .5 second or so over the WR, with just 5 laps ando no set...
hahaha, am I not precious?

I thought that my account maybe got hijacked or something (for just 15min? :S). But you can even check (i always erase my PBs and did that just as I logged on LFS World today to check the wins) my LFS World and see for yourself that I never raced there, so that can't be the case.

Even though the PB times are erased you can see if I/"someone" raced on the combo by hovering your mouse over where the PB time would be. The laps raced on the combo pop up.

For reference, I've raced (with the FOX) on WE, WE Rev, SO Town, So Town Rev, AS Club, BLGP and so on...
Even on AS North just not on the reverse configuration (10 laps).
Just for you guys be able to see where I indeed raced already.

What happened?
You can even see that Jonesman59 drove a XFR on that race.
And that's on the CTRA Single Seater 1 server.
It says we did 6 laps but only shows the time of some 5 laps (apparently the "last 5" even the first laps being slow ones).
Maybe an admin from CTRA might fetch that replay and see what happened?
Either way, there's something really wrong going on.

ps: Tell me I'm not crazy and you can see that race on my LFS World account too..

Quote from The Moose :don't worry, your not crazy

whew, that's one thing less to worry about

Vouchers - High-Res Skins
Meanie

Hello!

Is it possible to buy a voucher for a high-res skins "upgrade"?
It's just that I would like to gift some friends of mine, which are way too cheap to buy it, with the upgrade.

Looks like there are only Vouchers for 12 GBP at least.
Is there a voucher for this kind of service?

If not, I think it would be a nice thing to have available, one could add some credits to his account (min. 3 GBP I think should be because of some credit/debit charging system, no problem about that) and then give away some high-res skins upgrades to his pals if he feels like it. Even for only 1 GPB vouchers I guess, since then it won't be a matter of a charging system anymore, only a intra-LFS "exchange" between accounts...

Maybe even use it to award something on the community/leagues, on the cheap side, hehehe.
If the guy being rewarded already has it, he could always just "store" the credits on his account, waiting for S3...

Anyway, it could help to give a little tiny bit of a boost to LFS funding and would be downright nice to be able to give those away.

Quote from Taavi(EST) :I think a thumb down button would be more useful, then most people wouldn't have to circumlocute every time someone acts retarded.

Hehehe, great idea!
Just imagine it, everytime a certain user achieved a pre-determined number of "thumbs down" his posting font would be automatically reduced by 1pt, With no way of avoiding it (via edit or whatever). That way, the really bad posters would still be able to post but eventually what they posted would be so damn small on the screen that noone would be able to read it at all.

THAT would be amusing.

Anyone?
Meanie

Hi!
I couldn't find (but i'm kinda slow so don't jump on me...) any kind of contact info on the CTRA website so i'm asking these questions here, hope it's alright.

I'm asking those concerning the Single Seater server(s):

1. How much time currently each race is set to last?
Is this time going to change soon? By a big margin?

2. Is it possible to release a list with all the tracks under rotation (is the order of that rotation random?) on the server? *

3. If the order isn't random... Would it be possible to display a list on the server (maybe a RSS feed) of the current track being raced and (in fact there's something akin to that already, right?) the list of the next tracks to come online with it's current ETA beside it?

"4". Maybe the number 3 question had a quite "too demanding" suggestion but... It's just that i've been talking with some of the drivers on the Single Seater server and the consensus i've seen is that the track changes way too rapidly (i gather that's it's about every hour and a half or something close to that).
That's pretty much the reason why i haven't raced on it yet.
With a list, i could join (or better yet, know when to join) only on the tracks that i know that i can participate without causing any kind of problem for the other racers.

---

Is there a chance, if it gets determined the majority of the users actually do want it (not cause *I* want it, heh), of the time between track change to be increased? Maybe some 4 hours betweens changes or so?

I "know" that at least on the old servers one of the main reasons of the popularity and the "fun factor" of the servers were it's plethora of tracks and track changes that made possible racing on a lot of "different" combos and... with people on them!!

But maybe since that now the servers are really popular and great stuff (always were hehe) wouldn't it be interesting to raise the time between those track changes?
I mean, so when one find a track that he likes he could (not my cup of tea but of many) even start to develop a set on the spot, practice on it and start to get competitive and all of that quite some time before the track changes yet again.

The "complaints" i've been hearing are that when the racing starts to get really competitive and fun (well, more fun), people starting to get a good pace etc, it's almost if not already at the time of the track change, which, well, it's unfortunate. All the good racing has to start from scratch.

It's a bloody great concept, which works really well, that of changing tracks. So we don't get the same old same old combo all the time...
But maybe, just maybe, we could make those combos last a little bit longer? It's not that anyone is in a hurry or anything like that, hehe.

That's it, i guess.
Keep in mind that i'm doing all those comments and suggestions on top of the knowledge of the "short time" between track changes that i got via IM with other LFS racers, which could have changed by now and then i've wrote a worthless post.

Well, i feel like typing today. So i hope i don't get too bad of a scolding if indeed i'm wrong on my "information" (which would be great!).

Thanks for your time, and servers.

* I kinda "need" that cause i would like to find/develop a set and then practice a little bit before going into racing online. I don't like to use the racing track during a race as my testing grounds.

ps: sorry about my poor english, if anything can't be understood please point it out to me and i"ll try to explain it better.

Thanks a lot for this!
Now that it has some open wheeler action... i"ll be damned if i wouldn't be a regular!

Just a quick info tho: (sorry about the tl;dr)

1. Is track change random? I mean totally random or are the tracks randomly chosen from a select pool of tracks?
2. How much time one could expect between track changes?
3. Does it have wind on? Is it random too? Does it show how much wind on the screen before the start of a race?
4. How much time will it pass before you guys make the races a lil bit longer? (I've read somewhere that this would be the case).

Again, thanks a whole lot for this!

Hidden Server - Questions
Meanie
S3 licensed
Hello, we've been wondering what are the differences between a hidden and a normal server?

I mean, is it hidden from the Master Server list? Is that it
Does it show at all on LFS World?

If you search for someone through Live Alert or seeing the Online Stats for that login while he's online at a hidden server... what will appear? Will it show that he's online "somewhere"? Could then someone go watch the "progress" on that hidden server?

But... how come my friends can't connect to a hidden server (password protected) entering the host IP?

Not a local game. 201.xx.xxx.xx range
Regular TCP/IP, i guess?

He can't login to it, it says that it's a "hidden server" (his words).
Well, if he can't log on to that... what's the use?

Please walk us trough how to use a hidden server, server and client side.
Thanks a lot.

If someone could clarify the questions above about the nature of a hidden server too, that would be great, thanks again

Quote from Leprekaun :<- Setup Whore!
... there have been some times there where I had a new set and could instantly go 1-2 seconds faster...

Well, that means that you pretty much DIDN'T HAD a "proper set" to begin with. 1-2 seconds is an eternity.

When you have a set, dialed in to your driving style and the track layout, any other given set could "give" you at the most a couple of
tenths. That is, after a lot of practice.

Well, i'm a cockpit view driver, aslways been, so i'm honestly not worried about the possible use of this option on servers.

I "get" it tho.
It would "suck" to be forced to drive on any other view, since i like the cockpit one.

But, and that's a big but, aside the LX servers and some other autocross ones...

Does ANY other server is using this OPTION?
Guess not.
So, it's not the end of the world.

And yeah, other servers could turn on this option in the future but then "we" should just stop driving there. That's the way the world works.
If the server gets empty, the owner will turn it off soon enough.
If not and there is such a demand for servers with it turned off, don't you guys think such servers would be created?

I think it's a fairly simple option and not enough to be "mad" about.

Anyway, as you can see now (some time after the option has been made available) pretty much NO server is using it.
Either because there's no adjustments available on the FCV (which there should be, really) or because there's not enough demand for the option.
So... it's "all good", who wants to drive on the cockpit view can do it and others can do otherwise. Nothing has changed, apart from a new option, really.

Let's all be friends again...

EDIT: and i'm sorry, i thought i was posting on the X10 (was it this one?) thread, the one about the inclusion of the FCV option, and not the spinoff specific thread.
heck yeah, i do fully agree with the idea of some adjustments on the FCV. +1 from me, if that counts for anything, heh
