I always thought Dell made it so you had to purchase parts from them, reworking them or something... Not exactly sure why I thought this, maybe it's a different company...

Building your own computer isn't all that difficult. I don't even think you could plug anything in wrong so it's basically a 3D jigsaw

Quote from Slidaaaa :Read my other posts duh, and NO, wins the fastest person that kept the drift longer,

What an attitude, keep the toys in the pram please .

I have read your other posts, maybe you should learn to actually explain yourself clearly so others can understand. You've still failed to explain yourself in correct English that can be easily read and understood.

Quote :little brains there huh

Your supposed to be a year older than me, speaking the same language as me... Yet struggle to string a clear sentence together. I think you should maybe re-think your statement. Nearly every single one of your posts have uncalled insults... Or are you trying to convey the attitude of the NFS community

What exactly is `race drifting`?

The word race suggests a competiton where the fastest person wins... so the fastest person would be the one who doesn't drift...

The thing is dont teams at this moment in time want to use as little TC as possible to reduce the `bogging` down effect? I guess it will be more interesting that when a driver does over step the limit then they'll have to work the pedal rather than TC kicking in to save them.

I remember those days of Montoya and no TC, good stuff. http://youtube.com/watch?v=y9MYwyQYs5E

Quote from ajp71 :No one seems to have presented a balanced viewpoint, or any real opposing viewpoint at all. The PS3 may be good in some peoples opinion but simply saying it's the best console you can ever buy ever even if it's £400 is blatant fanboyism/trying to justify your purchase and isn't at all constructive in deciding whether you want to splash out a lot of money for something that doesn't really do much different from something half the price (360) or even that much more than something an eighth of the price (previous gen consoles).

Well on the price front I don't agree when you put it into context.

To bring an xBox 360 upto a PS3 standard you need to upgrade the HDD, buy the £60 rip off WiFi add-on, buy a HD DVD drive £134.99, £40 12 month subscription to xBox live and if they do it for the 360 Bluetooth. All of that there is over £514+, couldn't find a 60GB HDD or a Bluetooth thing for the 360.

Mr Gates just has a smart way of making people pay more without noticing.

My brother has a 360 and has spent about £380 on it so far and no doubt he'll end up forking out £134.99 on a HD DVD drive for it.

Then you also have to note that you can't buy a blu-ray DVD player cheaper than the PS3.

Having played both, to me they are not a huge amount different. Most games are multi-platform so even then there's very little to influence you one way or the other. For me if I was going to buy a console the free online play and since I need WiFi I'd buy the PS3. Not to mention I'm a Metal Gear Solid fan . Another factor is I've owned a PS1 and PS2 which I've been more than happy with.

Quote from FOGlegsy :blimey! the 360 kicked its ass, ive just sold my 360, it was fun, good games also but at the end of the day i prefer PC's , i like to play around with my games

Well Blu-ray is said to be slower. The thing Microsoft have against them is they have no way in pushing HD DVD forward. Sony have a major influence on the market being in the DVD department as well so can really push home the blu-ray format.

I'm glad Sony went out and did something different. Now there is a real war not only between consoles but two formats. Had they just gone along with the xBox 360 and went for HD DVD technology what would the difference be?

The real question to be asked is how will people take it when they find themselves having to fork out £134.99 on a HD DVD drive for the 360? My brother thought the 360 came with a HD drive until I informed him otherwise, so I doubt he is alone. Will you need the HD DVD drive for the 360 in the future to play newer games? Something I've not found an answer for.

Quote from Nathan_French_14 :im sure i read somewhere that it is possible to send the cash directly to the devs, then they give you a licence, but maybe i am wrong.....VERY VERY wrong.....

It's possible but not recommended. Sending cash in the post is a big no no, I once had someone send me coins in the post for an eBay purchase. She was very trusting of the workers at the Royal Mail.

Why not use a postal order? Just go to your post office, get a postal order and send it along with a note to the developers. Although clarify this with the devs through an email or something but I'm sure they'd accept it.

Quote from v4forlife :but then we might as well just get a higher powered car. and I dont want a high powered car. its not our fault that we are so slim and take advantage of the lack fo width in cases like that.

That's something I hate about a lot of people on bikes is they seem to turn a single lane road into a dual carriage way.

Now I've grown used to forcing them to pass me on the otherside of the road by driving with the driver side wheels on the white line. If they want to get knocked off their bike they can do it without making me brake hard to stop them from taking the front of my car as they panic when a car comes over a blind crest going the other direction.

I notice a general trend where people who ride bikes are always complaining about some `idiots` in cars but it works both ways. I've come across plenty of `idiots` riding bikes as well as driving cars.

I have no problems with bikes, if I had one I'd most likely carve my way through traffic but I'd be considerate of the person in there car. When riders on bikes are often approaching cars at +20-30mph it isn't exactly giving a driver a lot of time to see you coming, especially when a lot of bike riders don't even bother to slow down and try to pass straight away barely even bothering to leave the lane. Leaving no safety gap if the person in the car has to suddenly avoid something on the road you've had it.

On the topic, these suggestions come from a bunch of people who try to justify there job by coming up with "great ideas."

For example, my Clio is only a 1.2 (okay it's a car) and it can take me a lot of time to pass a car especially if they speed up. Now that is far more dangerous than having the power to pass them ASAP. If you limited a bike or car to the speed limit passing someone toddling around at 50mph would become very dangerous.

I can't read my km/h units on my speedo without having to squint. They are A) Too small and B) red which isn't a great contrast to a dark grey/black dashboard.

I can't see a measurement of speed helping the British motor industry... Nothing can be manufactured at a reasonable cost in this country.

Well your not entirely correct. It's a feature rather than a bug. He also never called you a `noob`...

Anyway some racing series will not allow you to re-join a race after making changes to your car in the garage. Nor would the time taken to make these changes warrent going back out.

Cars don't magically teleport into their garages, if your `wrecked` your wrecked. Chances are a pit crew wouldn't get you back running unless it was an endurance race.

The current system works fine, no one can take advantage of it. If you have damage drive the car to your pitbox and get it repaired. Teleporting into the garage and excpecting to take off on the lap you were on isn't exactly very realistic... nor fair.

Why does this always come up?

People seem to look past companies like SimBin and EA. These companies all charge top price marks, around £30-35 for a game that IMO isn't even up to the standard of LFS S1. Then they will release a second version which is the same game with a bit more bling...

£36 is dirt cheap for the amount of years of work and effort it will have taken to reach that stage. Quality usually costs more. Just think most people are happy to give SimBin and EA £35 every 6 months for the same thing.

Quote from The Moose :[old man style rant] What the bloody hell is wrong with the youth of today? Why cant anyone concentrate for more than 5 mins at a time?
Why bother playing a SIMULATION if you cant be bothered to race for more than 5 mins?
Have you ever seen a 5 min race in real life?
Pah...If you cant race at least 30 laps on a decent length track don't try and pretend your a sim racer[/old man style rant]

I do prefer longer races, but the majority of the public dont. Hence why servers set for about 6/9min races are usually the most popular.

Quote :
" How many times do you race a small 5/8mins race and a few people join and just vote to restart."

Hmm, admittedly I've only been racing LFS for 6-7 weeks, but i race nearly every day and i've never seen that happen.

It's happened to me plenty of times, namely when it's a small group of us. Say like 5 racers. Then these people who have just joined like to continue pressing restart while they can clearly see a nice battle happening. I will often type a quick message saying "Race in progress..." but often they still keep voting. Then when the race does restart they are usually the ones who mess up the start and either A) vote to restart or B) Disconnect.

The time it would take to make the Nurburgring would be wasted time. The novelty would wear off within the first couple of weeks and the track would only ever see use in league racing. I'd love to race the longer Aston configs in the LXs online but fact is they just don't work online. People get fed up waiting for the race to finish, people get fed up waiting for a 8min race to finish.

How many times do you race a small 5/8mins race and a few people join and just vote to restart. I hate when people do that, and could you imagine how frustrating it would be to have spent 10mins getting near the end of the lap when someone decides they want to restart.

I'm not against a longer fantasy track being made, either from scratch or based on a current circuit but unless it has shorter configs made up from it, it will be a waste of time.

Quote from TypeRCivic :I agree with this.....you pay $49 US Dollars and if you want to give a friend an unlock an such people freak out and want you baned. I paid the money and they're telling me what I can and can't do with it. I'll go pay the $50 for the newest GTR-2 and install it on my PC and 50 of my friends PC's and have fun. With LFS it's different and me no likey, but I love the game and play all the time Hopefully s3 will be alot better in many aspects.

And what you are saying is illegal. Guess you've never read the terms and conditions that come with any piece of software? Read that and tell me you have more `rights`. When you buy GTR2 you don't buy the software, you buy a license to use the software and the publisher holds the rights to do basically anything they want.

Anyway, LFS is not expensive in its native country (far from it). Although I believe it's all relative at the end of the day especially with the US since it would appear your cost of living is cheaper than ours.

Quote from v4forlife :
When the 360 came out, you couldnt get one for atleast 4 months after it came out.

Your comparing a launch at Xmas time to one launched 3 months after xmas where trade isn't near as busy in retail.

I'd put money on the PS3 being sold out if it was an Xmas release as parents are willing to spend a lot more money on their children. People were paying about £700 for Xbox 360s on the run up to Xmas.

As someone said on the radio today from GAME, if done correctly the PS3 could be a huge hit. It's cheaper than a blu-ray DVD player at this moment in time so has huge potential to be marketed as a cheaper home entertainment system that can do more than a blu-ray DVD player. All Sony need to do is push the Blu-ray media forward.

Can't believe some people were getting free 42" HD TVs with their PS3s

I've always been under the impression that Kimi is quite shy and likes to keep things to himself.

Martin Brundle (ITV commentator) was saying that when your with Kimi outside the paddock you can't get him to shut up.

He does get the gaps. Since he has leading he would have had the gap to 2nd and 3rd all the way through the race. Even then if your far enough ahead of 2nd place man the 3rd place man isn't going to be much of a worry unless he was on a different strategy.

I can't see how his race performance was affected at all. The only time I'd see the radio being important is in a close thought battle where he needed to make a gap. The Ferrari had the speed to probably lap up to the McLarens easily, so that wasn't a problem.

Kimi is a great driver and I'd like to see him win a title but I'd like to see the McLarens making him work for that top end salary . Can't see Renault getting far with Fisi as the lead driver.

Quote from Bontemps :bollocks! In racing there are incidents and when its a game there are more. Sometimes it spices up the race. People like you will be happy when people say 'after you' when going into a bend. I can see people being afraid to overtake incase they get banned. Get a life fool!

Your talking bollocks

Anyone who has raced me will know that I race hard, but I will not race unfairly. I'll squeeze people to the edge of the track and people will do it to me, that is racing hard. To my knowledge I have never been banned (well except the usual messing around on our own server ). I've met plenty of people online who also race hard, it's what makes the racing interesting. Sure when your pushing hard and fighting someone very closely you get the occasional slip up. But no one bans for those slip-ups. In my time on LFS I've probably banned maybe 2 or 3 people for wrecking.

People have no need to be worried about banned, only ones who have a reason to get banned. Do you go into a shop worrying about getting done for shop lifting?

I personally have no sympathy for Preston, to me it's more a "I'm sorry I was caught... now can you wipe the record clean and let me back in as I didn't realise how effective the banning system is."

Anyone know the answer to my first question? do logitech only ask for the plugs back? and if so how difficult it would be to get, and fit, a new usb plug and the connector's that plug into the wheel.

Well with my Momo they asked me to cut the cables off the pedals and steering wheel after I had recieved the replacement set. Even if I wanted to send them back I couldn't, the address was so long and I just couldn't understand a word the guy was saying. He would randomly say words and spell words, was just impossible and he had problems understanding me.

I've never cut them off. I just repaired my old set and gave them to my Dad Razz

Quote from Hyperactive :Kimi's performance wasn't really anything spectacular. I mean, he got the pole and won the race with a clear margin but made few errors that could have cost him a place or two if the other drivers had been a bit closer. I missed the first 50 minutes of the race so I have no idea how the maclaren drivers were battling it out but I get the impression the Mclaren wanted Alonso to win and Hamilton to lose. Hamilton was quick, will be interesting to see which one is eventually faster, kinda like with Ferrari. Let's hope the Malaysian GP is a bit more interesting as well .

I doubt they really cared who won at McLaren. Both drivers were on very similar pace and when it came down to it the extra lap or two that Alonso did was enough to put him ahead. Just like the extra lap Lewis did at the first stop may have put him ahead of Alonso if he had not already got ahead. If Lewis had finished 2nd the media would have gone crazy over here, something they'd like and there sponsors.

Those BMWs were mighty off the line (even Kubica on the harder tyres). Fisi seemed to need his usual encouragement/wake up calls down the radio, Renault really need to replace him ASAP with a driver capable of pushing the team forward. After two strong seasons I can't see Renault just dropping off like that.

What a great T1 for Lewis, don't think he probably excepted to pass Alonso but he had to back out of it because of the BMW. Still great race craft on his part to see the opening.

I'm glad both drivers in McLaren seem to be able to drive at a similar pace, going to keep both of them on there toes and be a strong contender in the constructors. I'm not too sure how Massa will cope under pressure, a lot of the time during his Sauber years he would just lose it.

Coulthard was doing okay, shame he messed it up big time. That corner seems to catch many drivers out over the years. At least he put his hands up and took the blame for it.

Honda, what an embarrassment. First of all you build such a rubbish car and then when Rubens is clearly quicker than Button they don't give any instruction to let him past and eventually Rubens just has to sling it up the inside after 15laps. Yet when it was the other way round last season Rubens was getting told to let Button past, guess it's to do with Nick Fry and his love for Button

All in all a pretty good season opener, Rosberg drove an awesome race as well. I just hope McLaren can find that little bit extra, but then as Martin was saying maybe Ferrari are running to the limit on cooling etc. Might prove costly if they have engine problems at Sepang.
