IMO, the original Forza did a much better job at a racing game than GT ever has. The AI for a start was much more fun to race against.
@ the haters, yes it's a console sim and isn't ultra-realistic like LFS, but that doesn't make it a bad name. I find some fun in collecting / customising cars and the racing can be a bit of a larf in short bursts. I'll make my AI avatar do the enduros though...
Well I downloaded the demo earlier, and it (surprisingly) was playable once I tweaked the video settings a little.
I'm still gonna hold off for a while before I purchase though.
After browsing through the forums, this bit of software kinda reminds me of Vista next to XP.
Sure, the new version is a little prettier, but there are a lot of problems at the moment. The devs are working hard on fixing them, but it will be a year or so before it finds it's feet.
I was a big OFP fan in it's day and was thinking about buying this, it's newer brethren.
I've heard it's a system hog though, and don't want to spend $90AU on an army slide show.
PSU??
I had a similar problem, but with my optic drive. Every time it tried to read a disc, my machine would lose power and reboot. I had to disable the sucker and am now using a USB drive.
I doubt it would be VNC unless someone dialled in and did something bad...
Two things would greatly improve the LFS online experience for pickup races.
Please note that it still awesome and I love it at the moment. Emphasis is on the word 'improve'
* Engine Damage - Stop people doing ridiculous downshifting to get faster lap times. It should kill your engine within a few corners.
* Debilitating car damage - At the moment, it is beneficial for idiots to bounce off the walls around South City, drive straight over the final chicane at some AS and FE combos.
Hitting walls should kill your car straight away (rubbing fenders etc), and going over chicanes at 100mph should kill your suspension.
Repeatedly smashing in to the back of another car because you can't judge your braking distance or you're far too aggressive should damage your car and put you out of the race.
Most people will agree that LFS is at it's best when the racing is close and clean. The more this is promoted, the better it will get.
T1 n00bs will learn pretty quickly if their car is un-drivable after smacking in to someone at the first corner...
I don't think shift+s is the real issue here. We'd see less accidents if everone was more careful. More realistic damage would make people more careful.
I found Shaun's movie has an effervecent complexity mixed with with unmatched oaky terrior, lasting the whoe duration.
It's vibrant citric flavours don't overwhelm the palate though, as a hint of creamy cedar lingers on finish.
4/10
I just wanna back you up there. The vast majority of Americans are good and honest people. People just like anywhere else in the world. Just trying to get on with their lives and make the best for themselves.
When attacking US foreign policy or the press, or having a go at Dubbya, people should make sure they're not attacking American citizens. As th84 points out, most of them are probably of the same opinion as you.
Every country in the world has the capability to make a chlorine bomb.
MacGyver can make them ffs!
Using this to justify the preemptive invasion of Iraq four years after the fact?
Give me a break...
Because the topic by definition became invalid as soon as the event finished. There is no attempt to create interesting discussion (as most of the replies will attest to). He was asking a real-time question. This is more suited to chat than a forum.
Off Topic only means that discussions don't have to be on a specific theme, not that topics don't need to have proper content.
That would be a valid point if I said something like 'Dubai Masters suz0rs'. I was questioning the legitimacy of this as a topic, not the subject matter.
I didn't flame, I made a suggestion and moved on. While I concede that I may have exited my bed from the wrong side yesterday (and perhaps today), I'm becoming frustrated at the number of nonsensical topics (not just in Off Topic) that add nothing to the community. I believe there are are others of the same opinion too.
[/rant], and I won't post anything more in this thread as I feel I've made my point. Have a good day everyone and PEACE.
The problem with the elevation changes is they're way too bumpy, and you get airborne hitting a simple freeway ramp at 90mph.
Overall the game has it's moments but is focussed on it's online modes. I would only consider getting it on 360. It's definitely suited to the couch (and I heard that the PC version need Colosuss to run properly).
