This is just a little taster of something I'm playing around with. Time permitting, the final movie will have a variety of combos and some racing action. The resolution is halved for the preview to make for a smaller download. Comments welcome!
Jump in some tin tops and learn about racecraft rather than lapcraft.
I kid of course, but you really should drive a bigger variety of cars than the 2 fastest open wheelers. You're missing out on so much if that's all you drive. Especially if you're an Aussie and really don't have much of a choice for online racing during our waking hours.
This happened to me too, FPS would not go above 60 even though I had not set a limit. It's no longer a problem, but I have no idea what I did to fix it. I made several changes to my video card setup for another game (Nvidia 8800GT), I also upgraded the drivers to 171.23 (I think. I'm on a different machine at the moment)
31 year old here and increasingly time poor (especially when I become a dad at the end of November), thus I would consider myself a 'casual lfser'. I still play it completely as a simulator but can't invest enough time in it to mix it with the uberfast.
When I load up the game, I'm really looking for some nice, solid, 'polite' racing where there aren't T1 pileups every race and people don't cut you off and block you if they make a mistake or if they're slower, then disconnect when you pass them.
If any such server comes online, somebody frigging PM me and I'm there!
Maybe you're right, but the whole idea of this thing is unification of demo and licenced users, so Scawen will need to make a decision one way or another.
I'd be interested to know Scawen's opinion on how the kick/ban system should work for demo users.
It's harsh in some ways, but my thoughts are that demo users can vote against other demo users, but not S2 users. That privilege comes with the licence. (I'm mainly concerned about the dodgy voting habits of some demo users though...)
I won't mention the irony of someone called FOX using IE.
I see your point although I personally prefer quality within reason. 200MB isn't all that much in these days of high bandwidth. However, I might upload more compressed versions in future.
OK, it's just as much movie as it is a tech demo as I wanted to see what my new rig can do... Anyway here it is: Mucus
Expect to see high quality (although compressed) slo mo video, tyre deformation and some jumps. Enjoy!

I made the purchase and ended up getting the 320Gb drive. You're right, it's not that much more. It should be delivered by Wednesday.
If I can be arsed, I'll do a bit of a blog on putting everything together and post some pictures.
If LFS was a driving simulator I would agree with you.
However it's a racing simulator and there is no need for an automatic transmission because nobody would race a car with one in real life.
The thing is that Raptors are more expensive and to be honest, I don't really mind if Windows or LFS takes an extra couple of seconds to load.
I'm really more worried about skimping on the PSU than anything else. I'm still considering a different case and a standalone PSU. I just don't know what alternatives I should be looking at.
