Quote from Resu :So it's with a bit of disappointment that i see today some dumb*ss's thread asking about some cracks or whatever and Scawen's response half an hour later. But still since 9th January 2012, 10:43 he couldn't take 5 minutes to tell us about the progress report .

I support LFS and the devs, but it's hard to argue against this point.

Quote from Crashgate3 :After watching that I stumbled on this ragdoll hilariousness with Drunk Mode:

Hehe. Why I love a good sandbox.

My main hope for GTAV is that they keep trying to make the game more realistic.

Realism in terms of physics; soft body cars, realistic car damage and handling. Character's momentum, ragdoll & animations. Getting shot in the foot makes you limp... And realistic objects that have realistig weight and penetration attributes. i.e trash cans, bottles and the like.

Also reaslism in terms of how the AI reacts to events. I hope they continue to improve things like traffic flow, what people do when attacked, when people see other people attacked etc. How the police work. Even traffic infringements. Pulled over for speeding? Bring it on, I say!

They're not going to be able to do all these things on the current gen of consoles obviously, but I hope that's what they're working towards.
I'd be devastated if Rockstar ever went the 'arcadey and over the top path'. We have Saints Row for that.

Quote from Kid222 :Rockstar took some time to publish those two.

A strange choice of screenshots, for sure. But geez there are some whiny little people yapping away in here.

The bottom line for me is that I've never played a GTA game I didn't love ('cept the first 2), and I have no doubt this will improve on GTAIV.

Can't wait.

I'm sure this would be towards the top of Scawen's 'to do' list.

I made a quick vid detailing the soft body physics in this game.
I think the physics are impressive, and can't wait to see this sort of thing implemented in other games.

LFS (of course) & the GTA series leap to mind.

Really interesting and very well executed.

It's not perfect, but neither is a real life broadcast - so I'd actually prefer a few imperfections, and for it not always immediately cut over to every off or accident.
I liked that you included in-car crosses.
There are some obvious things to fix that have already been mentioned, like lingering on the crashed TBO. Sort those things, and it's a winner.

Would love it for replays too.

Congrats.

Yep, sounds like racing simulators aren't your thing.
But, why the need to create a forum account to let everyone know? Nobody asked.

Quote from morpha :people have the right to be racists.

In my country (and many others), people don't have this right, which is a good thing.

It's great to hear from a Dev. Thanks Victor!
Great news too, about the likelihood of LFS moving to DX9.

There are lots of little graphical touches like you've described that would be nice to have.
Many people quickly write them off as 'eye candy' which I think is wrong, because they add to 'immersion', which in the end, is a simulators main goal.

Having said this, I think LFS has other priorities at the moment, and it's quite clear that the Devs have been working on other things - namely tyre physics and content.

Wait until it wins Bathurst. There'll be another Bogan Uprising, like the last time a Nissan won:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBusULuWCoY

In all, I think more manufacturers is a good thing for the sport. Also , it might finally sink in to some of the aforementioned bogans that the cars are all exactly the same, and being a 45 year old Ford/Holden fanboy is actually very strange.

PS - Chrysler also rumoured to be entering a 300c (...shaped car that's exactly the same as the others)

Quote from brandons48 :Not racing as such, but still pretty cool.

Don't hurt me. :I

Late response, I know.

I'm a motor sport 'traditionalist', but I really enjoyed that!
To me, this is exactly what drifting should be; skilled stunt driving as entertainment.

It's unfortunate that drifting also tries to be a competitive form of motor sport, which is where it all unravels.

Great vid!

Quote from Rappa Z :I genuinely think that Scawen's work will pay off in the very long run and that we may be on the verge of receiving a truly stunning simulator.

I share these thoughts.

Just wish that the devs would share their ideas and experiences a bit more - Eric in particular - so that we could go along for the ride with them, so to speak.

They shouldn't worry about the small minority of vocal haters venting their spleens. This is the internet, after all. Most of the community understand this, and factor it.

It's great news, and very interesting to learn that all 3 devs are still working on LFS as their full time job.

However this fact makes it more perplexing that relatively minor graphical improvements (like higher res interiors) haven't been released after all this time. There must be a reason for this.
Perhaps there are bigger changes being worked on, like a complete overhaul of the graphics engine, that will be released along with the new interiors?

Thanks again for the positive responses.

Quote from Amynue :Hope to see more of that kind from you.

I'll work on a Part II when I have some time.

Thanks everyone, for the positive comments.

Quote from Jens O :I love seeing the driving physics so clearly in those slomo vids

I agree, and LFS stands miles above any other racing sim in this respect.

Quote from JBiturbo :Music is very weird but i kinda like it, what is it?

The song is Aeons by The Presets

A small movie to try and show some of the things LFS can do, that no other sims can.

Quote from geeman1 :...there are people who want to race against the AI. But then again there is always a larger percentage of players who play against human players.

(Sorry to quote an old post, but...)
I've always wondered what the ratio of offline to online players is. Does anyone know?

The poll needs a 'T'would be nice, but not before other things are done' option
It also needs a 'Pointless poll about an idea that's as old as LFS itself' warning.

So, I voted no as my contribution to distorting the results.

Quote from AstroBoy :Its ok people they are launching a inquiry as to what caused the fire inferno apparently the fire marshals didnt get there fast enough

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJN42DDGxWc

Here's a different view that provides some insight in to the performance of the marshals. Everyone seemed to move reasonably quickly - but without being there, I'm not going to make judgement either way.

There's not necessarily anything wrong with having an inquiry though. As long as the goal is to make improvements for next time, rather than just being a finger pointing exercise.

Quote from bandaid :Stalled car gets clobbered at ... nto flames. Everyone OK.

Good to see all the teams pit crews running out with extinguishers to help the marshalls.

Yep that was a terrifying accident. Watching it live, my initial thoughts were that they were both either dead or very badly burned. Fortunately, I was wrong.

Nice sig btw . For the record everyone, I didn't say that this year...

I agree that the story is a bit of a beat-up.

What I am enjoying though, is the amount of press it's getting.
It's yet another blow to the bullshit perception that Apple products are 'perfect' and somehow imune to such controversies.

Come to think of it, 'Think different' is perfect slogan. People think Apple products are different, but at the end of the day they're just tech gadgets like any other.

Quote from cargame.nl :I think it would be best if racers who do not race online frequently are not allowed to post in a lot of forum sections. (Only in off topic maybe).

Saves a lot of negative energy.

I don't understand.

I don't race online frequently any more, but overall I have a very positive view of LFS.
I have been closely following development of the sim for years, and am a huge fan.
There are numerous other people here who I can say the same thing for Tristancliffe would be the first to come to mind.

Why do you think we should not be allowed to post in the forums?
