Well, these are my thoughts on Scawen's post. In no particular order:
Glad - to finally hear something from the dev team. Reassured - that they still see a 'long term future' for LFS. Appreciative - of Scawens technical document about tyres. Disappointed - that there is still no specific news about new content. I can understand that it's hard to be specific with 'news' when experimenting with tyre physics, but it shuld be possible (and desirable) to show off progress on upcoming content and graphical updates.
Merry Christmas to all - really looking forward to the new LFS!
Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but would Scawen's post count indicate that he's been posting in a hidden forum somewhere (OMG Test Patch !?!!?1?11??), or at least doing stuff on the forums that we don't know about?
You may have some valid points in your post, but not this one. How can you say that LFS is 'more like' a project that was abandoned before a single public release?
All the deals Scavier have done have been non-financial, but mutually benificial for both parties.
I doubt there would be any binding contracts with development deadlines. Deadlines just aren't Scavier's style.
The only guarentee we have that there will be progress is Scawen's word.
I watched some of the coverage today. A support race and qualifying.
I must say, the circuit looks beautiful. The countryside is lush and green, and the track looks to be in fantastic condition.
Greg Murphy's 'Lap Of The Gods' was bettered in practice by Craig Lowndes (finally)
Should be a great race as usual.
I'm also looking forward to the Masters historic support race. Charger for the win!
To keep playing, purchasing the game would be required under the OP's suggestion, but nobody is forced to do anything. There's a big difference.
I like the idea of limiting the demo. I'd do it by limiting the number of laps you're allowed to race online to say 100. After that you could continue to play demo combos offline, or choose to buy a license.
That's how I'd do it, but I'm obviously not as generous as the devs are.
LFS's development has bugger all parallels with the failed development of Racing Legends. I mean, to my knowledge, there wasn't even a single public release for Racing Legends.
Your attempted comparison is a load of rubbish.
One look at his post history will show that he's nothing more than a troll who sticks his head in every now and then to 'personally attack' the devs because he doesn't like the game. He's not part of the community, and I stand by my description of him.
Who's mixing who's words? Go back and read the previous posts.
Here, I'll summarise for you:
obzelite suggested that LFS was no longer being worked on: "bwahaha, i love the assumption that work is actually being done."
I responded that I think "it's very obvious that work is actually being done (just, slowly)"
Your post, quoting me and countering: "The only thing obvious is the claim progress is being made. There's no substance to back that up..."
Now you're saying that we weren't talking about work being or not being done, but actually we're arguing about community engagement?
Ke?
Evidence is a basic requirement to back up one's argument. If you were arguing that no work was being done on the game (something that you now deny), then you would need evidence of this alleged inactivity. Anyway, you might want to read more on the concept of evidence to save further embarrassment.
Have you ever had a reputation to keep? Scawen has one. In case you hadn't noticed, he's not a great salesman.
If we're going to those extremes then I'd assume you believe that the moon landings were a hoax, the CIA started the AIDS epidemic, and that Paul McCartney died in 1969. But I digress.
This argument is all about character.
You believe that Scawen has abandoned development, despite him repeatedly (and recently) saying the opposite. For some reason you need to see a video or a picture as 'evidence' of continuing development. It's hypocritical for you throw around accusations based on 'lack of evidence' when you have absolutely no evidence of your own.
I don't believe he is lying. Why?
He's never lied to the community before. I have no reason to belive he's anything but an honest bloke, and it's totally against his interest to lie about such things.
