Talk about service! A fixed version uploaded while I'm typing up a bug report. Works great now. Thanks again!

I'm having a problem with the restriction feature. My rest.txt file looks like this...

FXO/0/20
LX4/5/0

!restrict shows me the correct values. But for me to join in an FXO, I have to have both IR and ballast over 20. Not 0% IR and 20kg ballast, as I expected, but I have to set it to 21% IR and 21kg ballast. The same applies for LX4, I need 6% and 6kg or I get kicked to spectate.

The limits appear to be tied to each other somehow. It looks very promising if you can sort that out though.

edit: beaten by 2 minutes! Getting new version now!

This sounds like exactly what I need. I'll test it out. Thanks a bunch!

Quote from DeadWolfBones :Haha, we have no idea.

CoRe was a FPS clan long before the racing division started, and we divorced ourselves from them almost immediately. It's just kind of a legacy name now.

Since there's no official acronym, that leaves us all room to make up our own. I always thought it was "Clan of Racing Enthusiasts", but it could just as easily be "Cadre of Rotten Engineers".

Congrats, and you don't look a day over 2!

Quote from Glenn67 :There was a good one here in Australia a few years ago.

The two most popular local radio stations switched transmission frequencies for the morning, you can imagine all the people driving to work thinking wtf

Last year two radio stations did that here. The kicker was that one was a Spanish-language station and the other wasn't. Rather interesting.

Back when I used to drive from chase cam (used to, let's not open that can of worms again ), if someone was right on my bumper their name obscured 50% of my view. People with really long names could even be in my blind spot and have the same effect.

So to discourage chase cam drivers, change your name to something with 60+ characters.

Quote from mcintyrej :Seems like we're having server troubles. All the cars froze on track, dissapeared and now Dan can't get into RDC.

Still not positive whether its someone hacking into the server, or if the dedicated box is having trouble.

We'll update you shortly.

Hmm, the server dies on Friday only to be resurrected on Sunday. I've heard that somewhere before...

That is creepy. It would have been even creepier had it attacked the guy that tried to knock it over.

I can't remember how old I am, but I know I'm over 35. Good to see there are other grumpy old men around here.

Apparently there's no demo yet, or at least I didn't see one. I want to get the demo and request neon and body kits on the ARCA Sim-Racing forums.

Sorry for the big bump...

I tried this today and found that it told me I needed the right ballast/IR, but it didn't actually spectate me for not using it. I vaguely recall hearing that the spectate command changed with Patch Y. Could that be the problem?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry for the huge bump, but...

I just found this tool and I wanted to say thanks! I've only messed with a with a few features, but what I've seen (rotator and xml results file) is very nice!

Got any future plans for it?

I believe Mike's point is this. He had to stop and he didn't have the option of turning since there were cars, people, buildings, etc on all sides. Remember, over here, every street corner has 4 Walmarts on it.

Slowing down with engine braking, yes. Stopping with engine braking, no.

I intend no offense to anyone with this. I tend to be a grumpy old man myself, yelling at kids to get off my (or Westhill's) lawn, but this thread strikes me as a little ironic.

This thread - "damn all these new players"
Lots of other recent threads - "why are the #s of racers declining?"

Unfortunately we can't have it both ways. If we're going to have an influx of new racers, we have to expect some noobish behavior. We can only hope that wreckers/idiots get tired of being kicked/banned/reported and the new clean guys find their way to the better servers.

Not only the wrong section, but the wrong forum.

I'd start in the SCCA forum with the same question. Good luck.

I'm a complete hack at setups, but here's what I do...

Try setups from different "authors", either from Inferno or the old standby begging fast guys for their sets. Once you try 5 or 6, see what you like and use that for a base setup in that car for other tracks. Adjust final drive and left/right handedness (camber and tire pressure) and you're good to go!

Once you have a setup you like, you can tinker with things and see what happens.

Quote from xaotik :To be honest, I wouldn't mind if LFS is a result of someone's hobby, full-time job, or even that of a programmer with a bowel disorder doing 24-hour-on-the-toilet-with-a-laptop coding spree. I liked what I saw and I pitched in and I enjoy whatever limited LFS-time I manage to squeeze in a day. So all this arguments based on the commitment levels and what-not are really lost on me.

This is exactly my thought process as well. I liked what I saw in the demo, I thought S2 would be worth $50, I bought it. I wasn't disappointed with my purchase. That was when S2 first came out. It's gotten a lot better since then and I still haven't paid another dime for it.

Sure, I'd like lots of things fixed or improved, more content, etc. But I'm not exactly in a position to demand it now, am I?

Step 1 would be to get as far away from drugs as possible. It's not going to be an easy fix, such as turning on some music. Not to mention that almost all the artists you mentioned are heavily associated with drugs.

Quote from MR_B :Blimey, can't believe I've been playing LFS all this time and haven't come across this!
LFS always has another nifty trick up its sleeve when you least expect it.

Glad I'm not the only one who didn't know about that. BTW, Sam, I made the noob coffee last time, too. It's someone else's turn!

Quote from SamH :Aye sir, you are

Click on the [?] next to a server. This is new to you.. it's not a button that's available to you in demo, it's S1/S2 only.. so there's no need to feel stupid, unless you really wanna

I didn't know that. Thanks for the info I've decided to feel stupid now despite your free pass.

Quote from SamH :As Gentlefoot points out, though, the server browser already delivers most of the information. It tells you the track, the cars available, how many laps and where everybody on that track is - whether they're spectating, in a car and finished, or racing and on what lap. I don't really know what more information you're looking for that you wouldn't just be better off joining the server to see for yourself

It's in the server browser at LFSworld, but not the one when you run LFS.exe. Unless I'm missing something, which is entirely possible.

Quote from SamH :You can see the current state of play at LFSW, and join the server from there if that's actually something you want. That way, you don't even need to start up LFS to decide if there's a server you want to race on. Pretty efficient!

I agree that the info is in LFSworld, but it would nice to have it in both places. I always use the in-game browser, only because I haven't bothered to get join2lfs. I can make myself remember to use LFSworld, but you can't FORCE everyone to connect one way or another. If both places had that information, it wouldn't matter how you joined.
